I absolutely love this song. It's synthy and has great lyrics..and not to mention fun. Who wouldn't smile at the sound of Brandon Flowers bursting out a 'ho ho ho'?

Love the song, one of my favorites. One question, though. I don't understand those lines at the end when Brandon says "I wanna wish you Merry Christmas" then the woman says "Can't do that."
What's the meaning behind "Can't do that"? Why can't he wish you a Merry Christmas.

Any ideas?

It's pretty simple. When Dalton Gang asked why, when Brandon says he "Want to Wish you a Merry Christmas!" and the woman voice says, "can't do that" is because of the politcal stuff that's going around about whether Merry Christmas or Happy freaking Holidays is appropriate. Some don't like Merry Christmas. I do. So....MERRY BELATED CHRISTMAS! It's a wonderful song. So true. He's so dang cute.

This song kicks ass w/ the synth in the second verse. After, "ho ho ho," as soon as it says, "now the boys are grown up," it is beautiful. I love synth in everything.
I thought he and she were saying, "I wanna wish you a merry christmas" and "Can't do that." and then "Come to bed" It sound a LOT like that, at least the second time. I dunno, i'm weird

YOU HAVE TO. It's a whole different side of the Killers that you don't normally see. Just makes you love them that much more.

Yeah, they do a Christmas song every year around this time. I love this one though...It shows that Flowers still has that little boy mentality. I believe the ending is about how politically incorrect the saying "Merry Christmas" is. It's stupid if you ask me, Christmas is religious. So everyone should be able to say it without being criticized. I also like how he realizes he is wanting peace. He is surprised when he comes to this. heh.

This is one of those Christmas songs that can be listened to year round. In a world of awful, repetitive Christmas songs, this one, as well as "Don't Shoot me Santa" allow me to get through the holiday season.
