"I must have got up about twenty to seven, had a shower, and had breakfast, and er, had a couple of pieces of toast, you know, forced it down, then had a cup of coffee, it was pouring with rain and I thought oh God, you know, good old England."

I get this writer's block; it comes as quite a shock,
And now I'm stuck between a hard place and the biggest rock,
In my own head consume, I sit back in my room,
It's like the tapestries of life get tangled in the loom,
I'm like a butterfly, caught in a hurricane,
My pulse is quickening as my heart plays a new refrain

I'm lovin' Mary Jane, flyin' with Lois Lane,
On board a bullet train
Don't know yet if I'm glad I came
Don't know yet if I'm glad I came
"Obviously this helps me I think."
Don't know yet if I'm glad I came
Don't know yet if I'm glad I came
"I always hoped that it would happen but I never though it really would."

Sometimes at night I think too much,
About life and love and music and stuff
"I mustn't sort of build my hopes too high."

I'm livin' in the past,
My clock is an hour fast,
Should really go and make a coffee but I can't be arsed,
I've lost my mobile phone,
You'll have to call my home,
On second thoughts just leave a message when you hear the tone,
My grimy windows show, the early morning glow,
Another day, another dollar in my one man show

I'm lovin' Mary Jane, flyin' with Lois Lane,
On board a bullet train
Don't know yet if I'm glad I came
Don't know yet if I'm glad I came
"Obviously this helps me I think."
Don't know yet if I'm glad I came
Don't know yet if I'm glad I came
"I always hoped that it would happen but I never though it really would."

I fell out with Mary Jane, I don't speak to Lois Lane and I missed that bullet train
But now I know I'm glad I -
Fell out with Mary Jane, I don't speak to Lois Lane and I missed that bullet train
But now I know I'm glad I -
Fell out with Mary Jane, I don't speak to Lois Lane and I missed that bullet train
But now I know I'm glad I -
Fell out with Mary Jane, I don't speak to Lois Lane and I missed that bullet train
But now I know I'm glad I came
But now I know I'm glad I came

General Comment:Kasserol had it almost right. Mary Jane is obviously marijuana, Lois Lane is slang for cocaine, and the bullet train is slang for speed. The songs about living life in a haze on the drugs, and struggling with the troubles it caused him.

The change in chorus in the end is basically him saying he's got an actual meaning in life now, where as previously he was wandering around unsure of his purpose ("Don't know yet if I'm glad I came").

My Opinion:Bullet train is slang for shooting yourself. My interpretation is that drugs screwed him up and in the end he gave it up. Rehab song sounds right. I could be totally wrong though.

My Interpretation:I definitely think its about drugs. He doesnt hang out with those dirty girls anymore. I think bullet train is possibly heroin

My Interpretation:Is it real that Mary Jane refers to Marijuana, Lois Laine to cocaine and bullet train to extasy ?

Could it be a rehab song, so ?

General Comment:i think i might have a clue as to what this song means?

i was listening to it today, and i was wondering why there was a woman talking, and it all clicked in.

I was thinking maybe, he and a woman were in a relationship, and got her pregnant, "dont know yet if im glad i came" dont know if thats just my dirty mind?

and then through the song she cuts in and says "I always hoped that it would happen but I never though it really would"

he gets scared, leaves town for a while to think, then comes back to her. When he coems back, he realizes he has to change, quits smoking, changes his ways, and is glad she's pregnant.

maybe this song ISNT about him in particular.
maybe my theory isnt even close to being correct ahaha.

“I must have, kind of felt that my head was too high.”
    -------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think so. More like, "I mustn't have built my hopes too high."

    General Comment:That's a shame.

I love this song for everything it's worth.

What it means, to me, is living in illusions and pleasures, but not knowing for sure if you're glad you're alive, or came to be where you're at.

But then you get to see some truth in live, and you stop smoking, or living in fantasies. And since you're living in a real life, and you're making it, you know you can be glad to be alive.

General Comment:why does he say coffee? I mean if he's trying to capture England in that first paragraph.. surely he means TEA!

I love this song and his voice but that bit annoys me ha.
