Now that it's all said and done
I can't believe you were the one
To build me up and tear me down
Like an old abandoned house
What you said when you left
Just left me cold and out of breath
I felt as if I was in way to deep
Guess I let you get the best of me
[Chorus]
Well, I never saw it coming
I should have started running
A long, long time ago!
And I never thought I'd doubt you
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know
I'm slowly getting closure
I guess it's really over
I'm finally gettin' better
Now I'm picking up the pieces
From spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together
Cause the day I thought I'd never get through, I got over you!
You took a hammer to these walls
Dragged the memories down the hall
Packed your bags, and walked away
There was nothing I could say
And when you slammed the front door shut
A lot of others opened up
So did my eyes, so I could see
That you never were the best for me
[Chorus]
Well, I never saw it coming
I should have started running
A long, long time ago!
And I never thought I'd doubt you
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know
Well, I never saw it coming
I should have started running
A long, long time ago!
And I never thought I'd doubt you
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know
I'm slowly getting closure
I guess it's really over
I'm finally gettin' better
Now I'm picking up the pieces
From spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together whoa
Putting my heart back together whoa
Cause I got over you, I got over you, I got over you
The day I thought I'd never get through, I got over you
I can't believe you were the one

I hope you all get though it like I did
Well, I never saw it coming. ( i never saw this turning into an addiction)
I should've started running
A long, long time ago. (I should have never started)
And I never thought I'd doubt you, (i never thought i'd want to quit)
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know. ( I feel so much better without the drugs)
I'm slowly getting closure.
I guess it's really over.
I'm finally getting better. (I'm finally getting over this and feeling better all around)
And now I'm picking up the pieces.
I'm spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together. (I'm trying to put the life i destroyed back together now im better)
Well I'm putting my heart back together,
'Cause I got over you.
Well I got over you.
I got over you. (I got over the addiction )
I've never had an addiction my self but i've known ppl who have gone through it.
Today I had a fight with my friend, and I stumbled across this song. At first, I just listened to it because I was bored and I like Daughtry's voice, but when I listened to the lyrics, I realized how much it fit. I figure it's a sign that our friendship is really over.
Oh well.
"i never thought i'd doubt you, im better off without you"
i think artists like chris daughtry are under rated..... so what if he's an american idolist?! he has talent.... his songs have meaning, they make you think and he deserves more credit for his work.
hopefully i can get over my friend like this song says...
