I was blown away, what could I say?
It all seemed to make sense
You've taken away everything
And I can't deal without, I try to see the good in life
But good things in life are hard to find

We'll blow it away, blow it away
Can we make this something good?

Well, I'll try to do it right this time around
Let's start over
I'll try to do it right this time around
It's not over
'Cause a part of me is dead and in the ground
This love is killing me, but you're the only one
It's not over

Taken all I could take, and I can not wait
We're wasting too much time
Being strong, holding on
Can't let it bring us down
My life with you means everything
So I won't give up that easily

I'll blow it away, blow it away
Can we make this something good?
'Cause it's all misunderstood

Well, I'll try to do it right this time around
Let's start over
I'll try to do it right this time around
It's not over
'Cause a part of me is dead and in the ground
This love is killing me, but you're the only one
It's not over

We can't let this get away
Let it out, let it out
Don't get caught up in yourself
Let it out

Let's start over
I'll try to do it right this time around
It's not over
'Cause a part of me is dead and in the ground
This love is killing me, but you're the only one
It's not over

Let's start over
It's not over, yeah, yeah
This love is killing me, but you're the only one
It's not over

    My Interpretation

I think it's simply about trying to come back after making a terrible mistake. The lyrics suggest it was relational, the video legal, but either way it's basically about redemption.

    Song Meaning

It's a proposal plain & simple. I'm not sure whats more disappointing here; the fact that nobody has yet to note this in their comments, or that people are really too ignorant to see the beautiful meaning attached. I love the fact that the lyrics are easy to follow and lack any real subliminal meaning. Unlike most songs, the poetry doesn't have to be interpreted, the interpretation is itself the song.

The first stanza begins with a heartfelt plea to the woman he loves, marked by the holding of her hand and his eyes set firmly on the hanging cross in the car (0:37) which I interpret as faith. "I was blown away" - "it all seemed to make sense" - "you've taken away" - "and I cant do without".

"I was blown away, what could I say? It all seemed to make sense You've taken away everything And I can't do without, I try to see the good in life But good things in life are hard to find"

He wants her to know that he understands what tore them apart, and he realizes that no matter what, he can't go on without her in his life. After all, good things are really hard to find, and he found everything good in this world inside of her.

The chorus ends up being a repetative description of his love, showing her that he has done everything in his power to build his life around her. He wants to start over, understanding that life lacks meaning without his best friend. This love is the only thing he really feels, what brings him to life and she is the only one who can give him the light he needs. so no matter what she says, it's not over.

"Well, I tried to do it right this time around Let's start over I tried to do it right this time around it's not over There's a part of me that's dead and in the ground This love is killing me but you're the only one it's not over"

The second stanza reveals the heartache he lives with - having to watch the clock, so to speak. As he continues to miss the most important moments in life. He conveys the pain that weighs him down in having to put on this fake smile, remain strong and hold on hoping that he could make it back to her. Again, this means everything to him; and no matter what she says, he is dedicated to her and her alone.

"Taken all I could take, and I can not wait We're wasting too much time Being strong, holding on Can't let it bring us down My life with you means everything So I won't give up that easily Blow it away, blow it away Can we make this something good? 'Cause it's all misunderstood"

The final stanza is his heartfelt plea for her to trust him - let go of her ego, let go of her doubt, let go of her fear of the unknown. Let it out, trust in me, because I'm holding on for you.

"We can't let this get away Let it out, let it out Don't get caught up in yourself, let it out"

"Let's start over I tried to do it right this time around, it's not over 'Cause a part of me is dead and in the ground This love is killing me, but you're the only one It's not over, let's start over It's not over, oh yeah, yeah! This love is killing me, but you're the only one, it's not over"

I feel this song takes a particular meaning in my life. I didn't actually do anything wrong, but lies and deceit took my family away from me - destroying everything I had. I face the hardship of rebuilding my life for the one woman I love and cherish, and our kids that I yearn to be next to. Like the message in this song, no matter what she says or does. It's not over.

I can't believe no one has commented on this song!!! Chris has come out of nowhere with this one. I have to admit it that I had forgotten about him even though he was my favorite on Idol, but I digress...

I first heard this when he performed on Ellen, and I immediately checked out myspace to hear it and I haven't stopped listening to it since!

The song is self explanitory. It's about second chances. This type of song is perfect for him. His new album is really good, and I would recommend it to anyone!

I hate AI, but the first time I heard this guy sing I new he would me a huge star. His album is really good. I was afraid he would put out some puff pop album, but it is not that at all. This is a good song and is, as was mentioned, self explanatory. My only complaint is that all of the songs are that way. I usually like music where the meaning is sometimes hidden, but that is just me...

I like it. I never watched the show, but had heard his name throughout the course of it. I'm glad he didn't win, or he'd probably be stuck doing some bubble gum pop thing. I do agree though jaden, I like when you can have your own interpretations on the meanings, and this is pretty straight arrow. =\

This song rules. It's pretty easy to work out. He is in a relationship which isn't going anywhere but he is too scared to just throw it away and start again.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
