We all have a weakness
But some of ours are easy to identify.
Look me in the eye
And ask for forgiveness
We'll make a pact to never speak that word again.
Yes, you are my friend.
We all have something that digs at us
At least we dig each other.
So when weakness turns my ego up
I know you'll count on the me from yesterday.
If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me.
Sing this song
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone.
We all have a sickness
That cleverly attaches and multiplies
No matter how we try.
We all have someone that digs at us
At least we dig each other.
So when sickness turns my ego up
I know you'll act as a clever medicine.
If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me.
Sing this song
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone.
Oh, each other
When everything else is gone
Ohh...
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, ohhhh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, ohhhhh
If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me.
Sing this song
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone.
Oh, each other
When everything else is gone.
Ohhh, each other
When everything else is gone.

The first time I heard this song, I liked it. Usually it takes a couple of listens to hear the inner beauty, but this was expertly crafted to hit the heart quickly and heavily. Bravo Incubus, you have restored my faith in good, simple, heartfelt music.
This song can be both representative of a friendship and a relationship. To always be there for each other through both the good times and the bad, and save each other from negative changes to one or the other's person. It's me and my bf's song, so to speak, because we have been through a lot together and yet we stuck by one another no matter how difficult it got. Wonderful, unique song!
I've always thought of this as a love song. He's telling his significant other that he's not the strongest one out there, telling her to watch over him in case "weakness turns [his] ego up" and "turn[s] into another". He knows she is the only one that can save him from his faults and weaknesses, and if she reminds him that he will always have her, it will buoy him up and help him be who he truly is.
I love the sentiment. The guitar has this wonderful vibe to it, Brandon's voice is so powerful, and the lyrics just... Gah.
