K., here's your ride.
Get your petals out and lay them in the aisle.
Pretend you're God and grow
and it's your day to wed.
We've found your man.
He's drinking up; he's all-American.
And he'll drive.
He's volunteered with grace to end your life.
We'll tidy up.
It's sad to hope, leave your shell to us.
When you explode.
You firefly, you tiny boat with oars
Feather oars.
The world tilts back and pours and pours and so.
You satellite.
You tidal wave, you're a big surprise.
And I've one more night to be your mother.

The signal interrupts baby's frequency.
Not strong enough
Remain in my hands and smiling.
We will miss you but in time you'll get set up.
And we will write...

Hey beauty supreme,
Yeah you were right about me.
But can I get myself out from underneath
This guilt that'll crush me?
And in the choir I saw our sad messiah
He was bored and tired of my laments.
Said, "I died for you one time, but never again."
Never again.

Well, I love you so much but do me a favor, baby, don't reply
because I can dish it out but I can't take it.
I love you so much but do me a favor, baby, don't reply
because I can dish it out but I can't take it.

One Two Three Four Five Six Seven Seven Seven
I'll never have to buy adjacent plots of earth.
We'll never have to rot together underneath dirt.
I'll never have to lose my baby in the crowd.
I should be laughing right now.

General Comment:Who the hell edited these lyrics? They were spot on before, now they are wrong in several places and written in terrible english.

Correct lyrics: (from old BN website, and lyric sheet that came with the vinyl)

    'K', here's your ride
Get your petals out and lay them in the aisle
Pretend you are God, and grow
And that it's your day to wed
    We have found your man
    He is drinking up
    He's all-American, and he'll drive
He has volunteered with grace to end your life
    We'll tidy up
It's sad to hold, but leave your shell to us
You explode, you firefly, you tiny boat with oars
    Feather oars
The world tilts back and pours and pours
    And so, you satellite
    You're a tidal wave
    You’re a big surprise
And I've one more night to be your mother"

    The signal interrupted
My baby's frequency not strong enough
Remain in my hands and smile

We will miss you but in time you'll get set up
    And we will write

    Hey, you beauty supreme
Yeah, you were right about me
But can I get myself out from underneath
This guilt that will crush me

He said, "I died for you one time, but never again"

    Never again...

Well I love you so much
But do me a favor baby and don’t reply
Cause I can dish it out
    But I can't take it

General Comment:this is a song that was written about a young girl who was given a limosine ride for a gift, a drunk driver crashed into the limosine and she died. 'one more night, to be your mother' and 'this guilt that will crush me' obviously refer to her mother who felt guilt for her death, its also 'he was tired and bored of monuments' not lemants. the reason he only counts to seven was because that was the age the girl was. anyway, amazing song!!

General Comment:it's about a 7 year old girl (a flower girl at a wedding that day) who is leaving the wedding or going to the wedding in a limo that gets hit by a drunk driver and she is killed. The 7 I think is her age and possibly the 7 deadly sins.

General Comment:It is my understanding that this song was written because of a true-life incicent in which a little girl (a flower girl from a wedding) got into a limo with her mother and they were struck by a drunk driver (or the limo driver was drunk>) The little girl was killed. I heard her decapitated head landed on the mother's lap.
This song is in the point of view of the mother.

General Comment:this song isn't about love or marriage, it's about death. it's also a true story. the band, and jesse, knew a young girl who's father and mother were well off. on the day of a special event (not sure if it was a wedding or not) the father was drunk ("he's drinking up, he's all american, and he'll drive - he's volunteered the grace the end your life.") the mother wasn't with them. the father crashed the car and killed the little girl (her nickname was 'K'), and that's why it says, "i have one more night to be your mother." it is rumored that they found the mother after the crash cradling the little girl's severed head ("Her head in my hands and smiling....") such a beautiful but sad song.

General Comment:youre all slow like down syndrome. this song as jesse says in an interview you can easily find on youtube:

a little girl and her mother were leaving a wedding in his home town of Long Island, NY in limousines and some spoiled rich white kid was fighting with his girlfriend and decided to get drunk and speed onto an exit going the wrong way and he wiped out the first limo carrying the 6 year old little girl. her mother was in the limo behind it, got out and found her daughters head lying on the road while her body was still in the car. she sat and held her daughters decapitated head. This incident occurred about a mile from his home in Long Island, NY. Jesse Lacey also went on to say about this that he didnt believe in capitol punishment but felt that if this young man were to die he wouldnt hesitate to feel justice had been served.

so fudge your love songs brand new aint about it.

My Interpretation:Kay is a name. I believe it's a young girl that was decapitated by a drunk driver while driving with her parents.

General Comment:This song is 100% centered around the death of seven year old Katie Flynn but I think the intent is to rope the listener in to how death affects both the family of the deceased and those (who are or who feel) at fault.

Here's a link to an article describing the incident:
    nytimes.com/2005/07/05/nyregion/…

So now, we know Katie was a flower girl at the wedding she had attended. Odd that they say he's volunteered with grace to end your life. Though they do likely mean to use grace as a word, grace was the other flower child at the weddings name, she survived the crash. The first half of the song (and many of the songs on this album) appear to be told from the mothers perspective. As though observing a court trial, most of these songs take you through the emotional journey that Katies mother is going through, as well the journey that her murderer Martin Heidgen is going through after drunkenly killing her.

Here's some of her moms perspective.

    "K, here's your ride.
Get your petals out and lay them in the aisle
    Pretend you garden grows,
And it's your own day to wed
    We've found your man.
    He's drinking up. He's all-American, and he'll drive.
He's volunteered with grace to end your life"

And then we have Martins, it sounds almost like he's contemplating suicide.

    "Hey, you beauty supreme
Yeah, you were right about me
But can I get myself out from underneath
This guilt that will crush me
In the choir, I saw our sad Messiah
He was bored and tired of my laments
He said, "I died for you one time, but never again""

In the end I think that it's either Katies mom saying that Katie is in a safe place or that it's showing how this death has changed Martins view of life love and death (telling someone not to love him because he doesn't deserve it, stating that he'll never be loved or have children and never have to suffer a loss like Katies mother did).

"Well I love you so much, but do me a favor baby and don't reply
Cause I can dish it out, but I can't take it
I'll never have to buy adjacent plots of earth
We'll never have to rot together underneath dirt
I'll never have to lose my baby in the crowd
I should be laughing right now"

General Comment:I actually learnt what this song meant yesterday.
Its about this little girl who was a flower girl at her aunties wedding.
And after the family was riding in a limo, and they were hit by a drunk driver.
And out of the 3 kids, mom and dad, the little girl got decapitated in the accident.
The mother found her daughters head..and hugged it for an hour while waiting for the ambulance to come..the rest of the family had minor injuries, and she was the only one to pass away.
Sad story ;/// But its true. And these guys wrote this song because they grew up in the same hometown as the family.
