I know parts of this are wrong..."There is no state in his body flew down" isn't right, but I did the best I could. Anyone have any corrections?
Such a good song. Not really sure what I think its meaning is...yet.

I believe the line where you had "There is no state when his body fell down" is "There his soul stayed when his body fell down." I'm pretty sure this song is about some guy who just wants to give up on life. The lines
"And my bride I haven't even laid eyes on
But my ghosts they come to me these days
My companions from the day I was born" Basically describe how he's going to end his life before he's even been married and the 'ghosts' are basically relatives or close ones who may have passed on and he's going to visit them/wants to. And the whole airplane chorus is basically him taking the trip up to heaven, thus that's where his soul stays when his body falls down.

i think this song is about a primitive who is illiterate... and when he sees an airplane land on his island he wishes to be like the bird that he assumes it is... then he ties himself to the plane and the next time it takes off, with it so does he.
songwriters don't always write about themselves.

if i am wrong, then at least i know he is comparing something to the concept of a primitive not understanding the complexities of modern technology... a sort of naivety that is purely innocent and deathly.

Promano, I think he means primitive in the sense that live is, and the airplane is the only way to escape that. But, I don't know, I didn't write it.

Okay, so I'm currently doing a research paper on Dylan Thomas and this entire song relates to his life. If you read one of his most famous poems, "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night" it is about Dylan wanting his father to fight his alcohol problem, but his father has lost the will to fight. The airplane represents the pathway to death, hence flying up into the sky and primitive is the state of being of his father. Also, the bride he never laid eyes on represents his wife a night club dancer, whom he proposed to drunk. Just food for thought, but scary how much it lines up. Great song!

incredible song, it's in my top 5 songs. This song could have many meanings but it also gives you an overall feeling of an epic event this man is facing and tries to overcome but he also doubts because it just seems too impossible. i really hope the slip gets more recognition for the right reasons, not just for being on guitar hero or something but for being an incredible band and superb musicians. This cd never gets old to me, i hope there's many more.
