Drew looks at me, I fake a smile so he won't see
That I want and I'm needing everything that we should be
I'll bet she's beautiful, that girl he talks about
And she's got everything that I have to live without

Drew talks to me, I laugh 'cause it is just so funny
That I can't even see anyone when he's with me
He says he's so in love, he's finally got it right,
I wonder if he knows he's all I think about at night

He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star
He's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do

Drew walks by me, can he tell that I can't breathe?
And there he goes, so perfectly,
The kind of flawless I wish I could be
She'd better hold him tight, give him all her love
Look in those beautiful eyes and know she's lucky cause

He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star
He's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do

So I drive home alone, as I turn out the light
I'll put his picture down and maybe
Get some sleep tonight

Because he's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only one who's got enough of me to break my heart
He's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do
He's the time taken up, but there's never enough
And he's all that I need to fall into

Drew looks at me, I fake a smile so he won't see

Song Meaning:In my opinion, This song is about a girl is in love with someone and really wants to be with that person, but that person is already happy with someone else. So every night when she comes home, she feels upset that the guy she likes is with someone, thats not her,but he's already happy with his current girlfriend.

General Comment:This song of unrequited love is based on a true experience during Taylor Swift's schooldays when she had a crush on a boy she was friends with. However there was no chance of him reciprocating her feelings as he already had a girlfriend whom he was madly in love with and he used to tell Swift all about her.
In an interview with the HMV magazine, Taylor revealed that this song was written for a boy named Drew, who only ever saw her as a friend, despite Taylor having feelings for him. She went on to explain what happened when he realized the song was about him. Said Taylor: "About two years after the album came out in the States, he showed up in my driveway. Apparently he and his girlfriend had broken up so that was his first stop when he was back in town. I was like 'you are so late, y'know. If you'd stopped by right after the album came out then that would be one thing, but…' I remember reading on his MySpace page one time 'My name's Drew and I have a famous song written about me. Email me and I'll give you details.' I was like, right, wow, note taken."

This song had two different chart runs on the Hot 100. It was originally a Country hit and charted on the Hot 100 based on its success in the Country format. As a result of the success of it's follow-up, "Our Song," a remix of "Teardrops on My Guitar" was released to Pop and Adult Contemporary radio. They gave it sufficient airplay to give it a second life on the Hot 100.

Taylor Swift was 17 when this was released. She is the first teen Country star to make a major crossover into the Pop charts since LeAnn Rimes.

Tyler Hilton, who played Chris Keller on the TV show One Tree Hill, plays the boy in this video. Hilton is also a singer/songwriter.

This is available in both Country and Pop mixes. (thanks, Bertrand - Paris, France, for above 3)

This was iTunes #1 selling Country single in 2007.

There are a couple of names of guys in her songs. "Drew," is the name of the guy in this song, and "Cory" is the name of the guy in "Stay Beautiful." Yes, these are names of real people, and they have both tried to contact her since these songs have come out. (thanks, Lance - Carroll, IA)

This song won the prestigious Song of the Year award at the 2008 Annual BMI Country Awards. It was honored for receiving more airplay in the past year than any other country song.

On the Billboard 200 chart dated November 7, 2009, Taylor Swift logged its 157th week on the chart. In doing so it overtook the 156 weeks spent by Nickleback's, All the Right Reasons, giving the album the longest stay on the survey by any release in the 21st century.

Memory:This song touches me so much, because I like this boy at school, and we talk a lot. But I can't figure out how to tell him I like him. (Hey, 3rd crush here! I'm new at this!)

General Comment:This song speaks to me. I like this girl who doesn't love me back. Sometimes she pretend she does, but I know deep inside she doesn't.

General Comment:This song is so meaningfull it shows what a freindship can change to for one party and when the other falls in love she or he dies inside and has a heartbreak every time they see each other. it is also a very good song to describe high schoolers feelings towards best freinds.

It is also so freaking awesome!!!

General Comment:this song is awesome, actually is about loving someone, who doesn´t know you love him. (maybe he does maybe he doesn´t)

some months ago I could totally identify with this song, cause I was in love with a friend of mine (to be more specific and even more complicated an exchange student)and we were really close, we liked each other but we didn´t talkabout it, then he started going out with another friend (who is aN easy girl but a great person) nd I was so sad, I felt exactly like this... FINALLY some weeks ago (when they have already broken up a while ago I told him, how I used to feel and that I wnted to move on cause he was leaving and everything, he told me he felt the same about me and he understood why I wanted to move on and that he was so SORRY) It was the best thing I could´ve done, honestly no regrets... (eveyone should tell the true to the one you love) (:
we started being as close as we used to, and ....over a week ago he told me he was feeling exactly the same as when we came clean, he just needed to tell me again, we talked (I recorded our conversation shhh ,lol so sweat) we kissed, we are on something now he has come home a lot since then, we have gone out, we feel so comfortable around each other (yes I´m in love) .. now he is leaving in one month, I don´t understand why he told me, I guess we deserved this little time.

IF YOU ARE A GIRL IN LOVE TELL HIM THE TRUE, BELIVE ME IS THE BEST YOU CAN DO, NO REGRETSSS I PROMISE ! GOOD LUCK
