And if your heart stops beating
I'll be here wondering
Did you get what you deserve?
The ending of your life
And if you get to heaven
I'll be here waiting, babe
Did you get what you deserve?
The end, and if your life won't wait
Then your heart can't take this

Have you heard the news that you're dead?
No one ever had much nice to say
I think they never liked you anyway
Oh take me from the hospital bed
Wouldn't it be grand? It ain't exactly what you planned
And wouldn't it be great If we were dead.
Ohh dead

Tongue-tied and oh so squeamish
You never fell in love
Did you get what you deserve?
The ending of your life
And if you get to heaven
I'll be here waiting, babe
Did you get what you deserve?
The end, and if your life won't wait
Then your heart can't take this

Have you heard the news that you're dead?
No one ever had much nice to say
I think they never liked you anyway
Oh take me from the hospital bed
Wouldn't it be grand to take a pistol by the hand?
And wouldn't it be great if we were dead

And in my honest observation
During this operation
Found a complication in your heart
So long, 'cause now you've got
Maybe just two weeks to live
Is that the most both of you can give?

One, two, one two three four!

LA LA LA LA LA!
LA LA LA LA LA LA!
LA LA LA LA LA LA LA!
Well come on,
LA LA LA LA LA!
LA LA LA LA LA LA!
LA LA LA LA LA LA LA!
Oh motherfucker,

If life ain't just a joke (LA LA LA LA LA!)
Then why are we laughing? (LA LA LA LA LA LA!)
If life ain't just a joke (LA LA LA LA LA LA LA!)
Then why are we laughing?
If life ain't just a joke (LA LA LA LA LA!)
Then why are we laughing? (LA LA LA LA LA LA!)
If like ain't just a joke (LA LA LA LA LA LA LA!)
Then why am I dead?
DEAD!

General Comment:I think that parts of it are about the Patient. Like the chorus and the bridge.
"Have you heard the news that you're dead?" doesn't just mean that he's necessarily died already -- only that he's dead as in there is no escaping his death (like "I'm dead for this.").

The bridge is what makes that - it's the Patient's doctor talking right to him. If "The End." is the Patient telling the story posthumously, then this is where he'll start -- when he only has two weeks to live.

General Comment:"Tongue-tied and oh so squeamish... you never fell in love..." It could be about doubt, self-doubt and cynicality when it comes to love. Maybe someone you're in love with and you're both in love, then you go your separate ways and don't see each other for a long time (due to distance) and when the time comes that you two reunite, before you see them for the first time in a long time you worry about the possibility that their feelings changed over time and they don't want anything to do with you, and you have no idea how they feel and you'd rather die than find out, because you're telling yourself that you don't want to know because you think that they PROBABLY don't love you anymore.

General Comment:I think it's one of those "What goes around, comes around" songs...

I like how it is angry in a really understated way. It's really fun to listen to.

General Comment:I think maybe he's starting to accept that he's dying, and is making himself want to die so he doesn't have to deal with the pain. And also he wants to die simataneously with a loved one.

General Comment:I am a 44 year-old guy with a 14 year-old son. I got him hooked on Green Day several years ago, and he introduced me to MCR about a year ago. Green Day is still my fav, but I really love this band. I recommend to anyone to get "The Black Parade is Dead" DVD; the New Jersey concert is crazy great. Anyway, about this song, this is the most "fun" and catchy song on the album. Hey we're dying! La-La-La! Let's have a party! That's the message I get out of this song. I asked my son to read it at my funeral. He agreed.

My Interpretation:I think it is about dealing with death in a way that puts up a shield as to not show your true emotions about it
