High on a hill was a lonely goatherd
Lay-ee-odl-lay-ee-odl-lay-hee-hoo
Loud was the voice of the lonely goatherd
Lay-ee-odl-lay-ee-odl-oo

Wind it up
Wind it up, uh, uh
Wind it up, uh, uh, uh, uh
Yodellay, yodellay, yodel-low

(Yeah)
This is the key that makes us wind up
When the beat comes on, the girls all line up
And the boys all look, but no, they can't touch
But the girls want to know why boys like us so much

They like the way we dance, they like the way we work
They like that way that L.A.M.B. is going 'cross my shirt
They like the way my pants - it compliments my shape (She's crazy, right?)
They like the way we react every time we dance

Every time the bass bangs, realize it calls your name
Let the beat wind you up, and don't stop till your time is up
Get in line now

Uh, uh, uh, wind it up, uh, uh, uh, uh
Uh, uh, wind it up, uh, uh, uh, (Come on) uh
Uh, uh, wind it up, uh, uh, uh, uh
Yodellay, yodellay, yodel-low

You've got to let the beat get under your skin
You've got to open up, and let it all in
But see, once it gets in, the poppin' begins
And then you find out why all the boys stare

See, they're trying to bite our style
Trying to study our approach
They like the way we do it, so original
I guess that they are slow, so they should leave the room
This beat is for the clubs, and cars that go

Every time the bass bangs, realize it calls your name
Let the beat wind you up, and don't stop till your time is up
Get in line now

Uh, uh, uh, wind it up, uh, uh, uh, uh
(Y'all ready)
Uh, uh, wind it up, uh, uh, uh, uh
Uh, uh, wind it up, uh, uh, uh, uh
Wind it up, yodellay, yodellay, yodel-low

Uh uh huh, it's your moment
Uh huh, come on, girl, you know you own it
Uh huh, you know your key is still tick-tockin'
Hell yeah, and you know they're watchin'

Get it, girl, get it, get it, girl
Get it, girl, get it, get it, girl
To the front, to the side
To the back, but don't let him ride

Keep goin', girl, it's your night
Don't let him steal your light
I know he thinks you're fine and stuff
But does he know how to wind you up?
(Come on)

Uh, uh, uh, wind it up, uh, uh, uh, uh
Uh, uh, wind it up, uh, uh, uh, uh
Uh, uh, wind it up, uh, uh, uh, uh
Uh, uh, wind it up
Yodellay, yodellay, yodel-low, hey

General Comment:yeah it does seem to refer to sex, and maybe even to procreation (your key is still tic tocking...you're still fertile instead of your clock i guess) but then two lines make me hesistate on what everyone is saying " don't let him ride" as if don't let him have sex with you and then the
Keep goin' girl, it's your night
Don't let him steal your light
I know he thinks you're fine and stuff
But does he know how to wind you up?

its as if saying "i know you're having a good time ith him and he seems to really like you but is he worth your time".

could also be that the "key" is only to be given to a certain guy to "wind us up" in the sense that its makes us dance to attract a guy but we want to know why he likes us so much other than the way we move etc. So don't let the guy ride untill we find the right one to wind up the key?
a weird way to look at it but it could make sense sort of lol

General Comment:I finally realized today that the "G" key design is a variation of the Greek Key design you see on jewelry, except the pattern has been reversed so it becomes a "G".

General Comment:This song is about Gwen wanting and/or getting an orgasm. You go gurl.

“You've got to let the beat get under your skin
You've got to open up, and let it all in
But see, once it gets in, the poppin' begins”
    Beat= rhythm
    Open up= spread yo legs
    Poppin= cherry popping

“Let the beat wind you up, and don't stop till your time is up”
Ya that would be unfortunate if he stopped before your time was “up”

    “Yodellay, yodallay, yodal-low”
Maybe this is her take on the modern moan....

    “Uh huh, it's your moment”
Ya typically it is your special moment.

“To the font, to the side,
To the back, but don't let him ride”
The movement of his tongue? Or dick.

“Keep goin' girl, it's your night
Don't let him steal your light”
Ya don’t let him cum first.

General Comment:I don't particularily like the lyrics of the song, I think they are kind of lame actually. But the beat is so catchy, Gwen is gorgeous, and her voice is incredible. So over all I like this song! Hahaha!

General Comment:I think this song is crappy, and I agree with rav4guy.
I watched this show on the making of the video or something and it said they were trying to be like "The Sound of Music"..so I thought it could possibly be alright, but seriously, it's not really anything like the sound of music.
Sorry, I don't agree with most of you guys, but it just bugs me so much!

General Comment:Hahaha, I'm with rav4guy. Though I've never been much of a fan, it always hurts to hear raw displays of poor music culture-meshing like this.

General Comment:i think gwen has her own code of sorts. and these songs that sound like total rubbish are, in all actuality, profound pieces of literature.
any ways - get 20 drunk michigan kids in a room and put this song on full blast and you've got enough entertainment to last for the whole night.

General Comment:Another annoyingly catchy song by Gwen Stefani. Almost as bad as her last "one hit wonder". I have heard this song every morning on tv. Its enough to make you wanna blow your head off. She really lost anything of meaning after No Doubt. Yes! Yell at me for still holding that grudge.
