i had to look after myself, literally missed him "like a child misses their blanket" but i just needed to get on with my life and know that i'd be able to see him in a few months. unfortunately this turned into having to get on with the rest of my life, as he passed away in iraq last year.

I love this song though, it really speaks to what im going through at the moment.

specially wen we broke up it wud bring me to tears but i knew i had to get over him even tho i miss him sooooo much.
Maybe he changed as the relationship progressed? Perhaps drugs, Fergie waited for things to get better & they just havnt. So she leaves, as she knows this is the only way she can move in with her life.

She's basically saying as much as walking away is tearing her apart & she feels like breaking down, she has to stay strong as she knows it's the right thing to do.
