Lyrics for Blood/Hidden track as interpreted by MCRluver17

Blood/Hidden track Lyrics
Well they encourage your complete cooperation
Send you roses when they think you need to smile
I can't control myself because I don't know how
And they love me for it honestly I'll be here for a while

So give them blood, blood
Gallons of the stuff
Give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough
Give them blood, blood, blood
Grab a glass because there's going to be a flood.

A celebrated man amongst the gurneys
They can fix me proper with a bit of luck
The doctors and the nurses they adore me so
But it's really quite alarming cause I'm such an awful fuck (why thank you!)
I gave you blood, blood
Gallons of the stuff
I gave you all that you can drink and it has never been enough
I gave you blood, blood, blood
I'm the kind of human wreckage that you love!

Okay guys, think: He's talking directly to us. Saying 'give them blood, all that they can drink, it will never be enough'--he's personalizing the song. Its as if he were giving advice to anyone who wants to start a band. He's saying, "all you have to do is give them blood, and they'll love you."
He says the girls love him, because they can 'fix him proper' with a bit of luck. Girls love the mystery of a bad boy, because they always want to believe they can change them with just a bit of love. He says people love him, because of his charming personality--when in reality, if they knew him, he's an awful fuck. He's saying it's amazing how screwed up the world is and that simply by being a dark, death-obsessed freak he took the music world by storm. It's sort of a send-off, since he's going into comics now. He's just like, "Holy shit, you guys are sick. BYE!"

I mean... it's so obvious, all he ever did was fall apart on stage, show you how far down he could go, how much he could piss and moan... and it's almost as if people were addicted to it. The Cure did the same thing. Lol, then again... I'm not a teenager so this is easy for me to see. ;-)

Sayra, this song has an early 1900-1920's sound to it.
1950's would've been a lot more different.

Has anyone ever thought that perhaps he's just litterally asking people to donate blood for those in hospitals who need it?
That's what I think the song is about.

Become a blood donor, because there will always be people at the hospital, whose lives are in danger and who need.

Actually, I change my mind.

I agree with Bluestopsign 's interpretation.

It makes sense that it would be found in the cancer patient's diary, because of the "antique, early 1900's" style of the music.

And I very much agree with GeRAWRd 's interpretation.

The only part that I think is incorrect is where it says, 'A celebrated man amongst the gurneys,' because I immediately always hear "yearnings" instead. XP

This might have to do with my own interpretation of the song, though; I honestly think of vampires working at a hospital when I hear this. You know, they work there, they get the blood they need from the patients... that way they don't really hurt anyone, but they still get plenty of blood (c'mon, people donate all the time... I wouldn't be surprised...). The reason the doctors and nurses 'adore him so' is because they want his blood. n_n

And the second half might be how he fell in love with someone at the hospital... or even outside of it, and she/he still wanted his blood and didn't really care either way. O_o I don't know... work with me here!!

I think the reason the doctors and nurses adore him is because he's just this medical mess. "I'm the kind of human wreckage that you love"- he's so messed up that it's interesting for the doctors+nurses to find out whats wrong with him. Kinda like a medical experiment. Or something. Yeah.

I heard that this entire album is about his parents' death and this is about a blood transfusion he had to make or something.

whenever i heard this song i always imangines gerard in a hot pink dress from the twenties and long blonde hair lying on a piano

ok that was a WEIRD THHOUGHT

onto the meanin
i think its sorta what most have been saying.
Mcr has been gaining fans left in rightm, mostly those who claim to be in the scene (posers LOL)
and its mostly says to me when i hear it:
I give you people all i have
but it will never be enough
I don't even get why you like me!

you know the awful F*** thing, i think that its refering to how gerard might look at himself. because his drug and alcohol abuse in the past, and his depression i think has a bad outlook on himself and he might not get why people like him or aprove

iono thats my two bits

NOW DONT SHOOT ME >

What stuck out to me was the line "a celebrate man amongst the gurneys". It makes me wonder if that might even be a reference to the play "The Ruling Class", in which the lead character is a man named Jack Gurney, heir to the title Earl of Gurney, who is mentally insane and goes on, in the second act, to believe that he is in fact Jack the Ripper.
Just some food for thought. I doubt MCR would use a reference like that, but it really does make perfect sense in that context.

I very much agree with Brofine on the affiliation to "the ruling class", though unknowing of the story the explanation makes perfect sense, especially as they have a song called Jack the Ripper.....wow.....

hey it sounds like only gerard is singing the song. the band is not even playing the instruments. it's just some old music in the background. A piano. I think.

Okay, I don't know if anyone wrote this yet or not, but I think this song is definately about sacrifice to society. You keep on giving and giving, and all you get back is fake thanks. ("Send you roses when they think you need to smile"?) It's a traditional outcry against authority, saying "I did this all for you and it was never enough".

Love the song, it makes me smile every time I hear it - imagining Gerard's expression? xD

Yeah, I asked my dad about it, and got him to listen to it, there's an old song called Rum, and Blood is based on Rum.
