i know what the song meanss
this song is about a kid who would always get picked on in school, and finally one day he couldn't take it anymore, so he brought a gun to school and went around killing all the people who made fun of him, thats why the song says "Because they sleep with a gun, and keep an eye on you son so they can watch all the things you do" and thats why it also says "The boys and girls in the clique,
the awful names that they stick, your never gonna fit in much kid, but if your troubled and hurt, what you got under you shirt, will make em pay for things that they did!" meaning that the cool kids made fun of the un cool kid and thats why it says what you got under your shirt! yepp idk if that made any sense
but that is the real meaning im not making it up

I think this song totally owns for one thing. And it can basically be applied however you like. I think that's sorta what My Chem, and any other good artist for that matter, goes for sometimes. Not just a "This is what this is about I hope you enjoy it" song. Something you can take apply how you want. Like how everyone has a different interpetation of what's under the kid's shirt. You know.. It could be a gun.. boobs.. fat.. i mean haha but yea.. i dont know..

teenagers is a great song but 'dock in your clothes'? im pretty sure its darken your clothes... still this song is beaten only by mama and cancer... you have to admit they all hav messages behind them. I luv this band no matter what ppl say about them.
i rotate the music i listen to around my life, but ill never stop listenin 2 this.

gerard wrote this song cuz he loves teens and their love in his music but they can freak him out a little bit with the girl's obssession with his sexiness. Dont think he doesn't know girls. lol. MY DEFINITION I'M SURE IS CORRECT! :D

I think the song has no deep dark hidden meaning. It's about a teenager who is mistreated and how they got back at the adults and clique kids who mistreatrd them

I've got the lyrics right in front of me, and it's definetly "another COG IN THE murder machine."
'Cognitive' would make sense though.
Anyway.
This song doesn't fit in with the album at all, but I still love it. Every band has to have a couple of hardcore highschool/teenager songs, and this was one of them. And I'm sure many fans (including myself) can relate to the lyrics.
Although I'm kind of bummed they picked it as a single. I saw the unreleased version of the vid and every other word was censored, even junk like "murder" "pay" and "shirt". WTF?

What this song is about I think. Is a geek;Lies and Books. And, evryone makes fun of him, so he tries drugs;But the drugs never work. The ways he can fit in are;Darkening his clothes or striking a violent pose just how everyone has turned into lately. Then, he comes back to kill them;What you got under you shirt,Will make 'em pay for things that they did

It seems these sections have motions toward rehab.

The Chorus is showing Gerards feeling to the teenagers in his teenage period of his life, and seems with saying they care less as long as someone will bleed may be towards him, or someone he knows being hurt by teens in violent physical ways.

It seems this part is mentioning towards a counsler talking or the kid talking about how he is going to try to get revenge against the people, such as "What you got under your shirt" is a motion towards a weapon of revenge.

The point is of this song, at the end of the video too, it shows a website for violence it reads-

The first line is actually, "They're gonna clean up your looks" and it's !"darken your clothes" in both choruses, but hey, good job. I know all the correct lyrics cause I have the special version with a big booklet with Gerard's artwork in it and the lyrics and other MCR stuff. Well, my sister got it, but... myeh.

I saw on an interview on YouTube that this song is about teen violence and how cliques effect people today. The tragedy at Virginia Tech I think influenced the release of this song a lot too. I love this song and all the albums. They're amazing, amazing musicians.

i'm thinking school shootings.
it definitely ties into the reoccuring revenge theme.
and fits the lyrics pretty well.
