Lyrics for Teenagers as interpreted by A Red Hotel

Teenagers Lyrics
They gonna clean up the looks,
With all the lies in the books
To make a citizen out of you
Because they sleep with a gun
And keep an eye on you son
so they can watch all the things you do

Because the drugs never work
They gonna give you a smirk
'Cus they've got methods of keeping you clean
Their gonna rip up your heads,
Your aspirations to shreds,
Another cog in the murder machine

They said all
Teenagers scare,
The living shit out of me
They can care less as long as,
Someone will bleed
So dock in your clothes,
Or stike a violent pose,
Maybe they'll leave you alone
But not me

The boys and girls in the clique,
The awful names that they stick,
Your never gonna fit in much kid
But if your troubled and hurt,
What you got under you shirt,
Will make em pay for things that they did!

They said now
Teenagers scare,
The living shit out of me
They can care less as long as,
Someone will bleed
So tuck in your clothes,
I'll strike a violent pose,
Maybe they'll leave you alone
but not me
whoa yeah!

They said now

Teenagers scare,
The living shit out of me
They can care less as long as,
Someone will bleed
So tuck in your clothes,
I'll strike a violent pose,
Maybe they'll leave you alone
but not me

All together now!

Teenagers scare,
The living shit out of me
They can care less as long as,
Someone will bleed
So tuck in your clothes,
I'll strike a violent pose,
Maybe they'll leave you alone
but not me

Teenagers scare,
The living shit out of me,
They can care less as long as,
Someone will bleed
So tuck in your clothes,
I'll strike a violent pose,
Maybe they'll leave you alone
but not me

I also think that "What you got under your shirt." means a gun, not fat. It makes much more sense. The song came out shortly after the Virginia Tech shooting, I believe, so it could be in reference to that.

I'm fairly sure he says "violin pose" doesn't he because when i was at one of MCR's concerts he acted like he was holding a violin when he sang that lyric but, I'm not one hundred percent sure.

i think that the first verse is about adults in this day and age are trying to control the exressional teenagers. so in the chorus "they" is the teenagers and "me" is from an adults point of view. and in the second verse they are talking about how these expressional teenagers dont fit in. and when they say "but if ur troubled and hurt what you got under your shirt, will make them pay for the things that they did". they are referring to a gun tucked in your waistband

someone earlier said. that "what you've got under your shirt" could mean ge was fat... but the full lines are The boys and girls in the clique, the awful names that they stick your never gonna fit in much kid. but if your troubled and hurt what you've got under your shirt is gonna make them pay for the things that they did. ... this obviously means a the kid has brought a hidden weapon to school, ect.

Okay I'm not sure if it has been posted before, but I think that song is more about trying to get people to confrom while there young and impressenable(Might be misspelled). Socity as a whole is scared at the current youth, which is vilonet, rude, and jaded. Most teeagers are this way so socity thinks it's time to put the youth back in it's place. This is being told from one of the teens who said they might leave you guys alone but not me. So he proposes a plan to show them that their wrong. They others don't care and go back to doing what they always do. When this kid trys to convince them to do other wise they just think that he going to try and back them for not caring and casting him off as a loser how is just trying to get in with everyone else and then they to try to change him.

I love mcr, they are just about my favorite band next to Weezer and the Femmes but this song is so bad man.. what was he thinking. He went from powerful meaningful poetry to nursery ryhmes. I bought the album the first day it came out and all i could think was, this is the corniest shit i have ever heard. He felt nothing he wrote about in the whole entire album and teenagers is liked by 13 year old boys, 12 year old girls, and 16 uear old girls. This song has been deleted from my library and should be goone from yours too.

"All together now!" "MOAR LIKE WHEN I WAS" amirite or amirite?

This is the only MCR song that I like. All the others are pop songs. It's about how teenagers like to make fun of other teenagers. They taunt them until they change what they want them to. Some turn to drugs, but it doesn't help. Eventually, the outcasts turn to guns and knives and kill their tormentors. I can agree with the song.

I think he probably wrote this song after getting his crotch grabbed on several occasions by crazy fan girls. (uh and boys -_-)

Haha he's just making fun of his target audience, and we love it :D

Meaning of the song? Gerard was frightened by a bunch of unruly teenagers on a train. Thus

teenagers scare the living shit outta me
they could care less as long as someone will bleed....

Believe me, I love this band. MCR is my favorite band and always will be. But Teenagers is just too cliche. EVERYONE listens to it. It gets to me so bad. I have gotten to where I absolutely hate this song. They'll play this on the radio, and yet they hardly ever play MCR's best. Teenagers is just way too popular amongst the people who could care less about My Chemical Romance, and that's just stupid.

gerard says this song was inspired when he was in subway(or like-transportation) and he realized it was full of teens in their high-school uniform..he said he felt like being aimed and attacked and full of insecurity, as strongly hinted in
"What you got under you shirt" (in reference of weapons) and
"Teenagers scare,
The living shit out of me".. cute guy..lol XD

i think when it says But if your troubled and hurt,
What you got under you shirt,
Will make em pay for things that they did!" it means that someone who was bullied he had a gun under his shirt and that will pay them for the things that they did
