Lyrics for Teenagers as interpreted by A Red Hotel

Teenagers Lyrics
They gonna clean up the looks,
With all the lies in the books
To make a citizen out of you
Because they sleep with a gun
And keep an eye on you son
so they can watch all the things you do

Because the drugs never work
They gonna give you a smirk
'Cus they've got methods of keeping you clean
Their gonna rip up your heads,
Your aspirations to shreds,
Another cog in the murder machine

They said all
Teenagers scare,
The living shit out of me
They can care less as long as,
Someone will bleed
So dock in your clothes,
Or stike a violent pose,
Maybe they'll leave you alone
But not me

The boys and girls in the clique,
The awful names that they stick,
Your never gonna fit in much kid
But if your troubled and hurt,
What you got under you shirt,
Will make em pay for things that they did!

They said now
Teenagers scare,
The living shit out of me
They can care less as long as,
Someone will bleed
So tuck in your clothes,
I'll strike a violent pose,
Maybe they'll leave you alone
but not me
whoa yeah!

They said now

Teenagers scare,
The living shit out of me
They can care less as long as,
Someone will bleed
So tuck in your clothes,
I'll strike a violent pose,
Maybe they'll leave you alone
but not me

All together now!

Teenagers scare,
The living shit out of me
They can care less as long as,
Someone will bleed
So tuck in your clothes,
I'll strike a violent pose,
Maybe they'll leave you alone
but not me

Teenagers scare,
The living shit out of me,
They can care less as long as,
Someone will bleed
So tuck in your clothes,
I'll strike a violent pose,
Maybe they'll leave you alone
but not me

You did a damn good job.

I like the catchier, more old-school rock feel that they're going for with all of thier new songs.

This song rocks.
I think it could be about Gerard, maybe when he was a kid or probabley more likely the patient who is the "character" of this concept album. It made me think of Gerard because he's said when he was younger he was overweight and the line 'What you got under you shirt' could mean fat(lol) and the line 'Because the drugs never work' because Gerard had a drug addiction, but that's just a guess...could just be about any teenagers that don't fit in, not just a specific one.
Oh and when it says the boys and girls in the click, I think it should be spelled clique(if that matters. I don't know if any one really cares about spelling....)

Ummm... I think it's *cog* in the Murder Machine, not cock.... "Cock in the murder machine" would either not make sense or be very, very rude.

This might be the best song on the CD - i love the style - seems like something Aerosmith or AC/DC might do. Although, Gerard says Queen, Pink Floyd and Sgt Pepper CD were strong influences on this CD. i can't wait to see MCR next week at Axis in Boston!

It's so weird how ever teenager I know is in love with this song. I guess teenagers scare everyone, including themselves.
And this is closer to Aerosmith for me, but I'm still in love with it.

hahahaha, fun song, MCR have a much more light hearted sound on this new album.
Not what i call good music, but hey it's fun isn't it.

This song reminds me of The Offspring's "Why Don't You Get A Job"

:O I just noticed that B12! has a bit of the same rythym in some places.
This song is good, not the best not its good :)
MCR keep getting better..

This song is kinda, self-explantitory.
I guess it ties into the patient story, with the patient thinking about his past, death and afterlife, he could be thinking about his own past, and the events that took place when he was a teenager.
Drugs, not fitting in, that stuff.
Its kinda like "I'm Not Ok" , but a ton better...
I'm Not Ok, is to me MCR's worst song.
This one is good.

Teenagers scare!...the living shit out of me. :P

Gerard said in an interview that he wrote this song after sitting on a subway and seeing all these teenagers around him. He got kind of...paranoid, I guess, that he wouldn't be able to write anything that these kids could appreciate because teenagers nowadays are so unrelatable to the rest of society. He said it was the first time he ever felt old.

I actually think its "the patient" telling kids today to not waste they're life like he did, because in "The End" he says "You might wake up and notice you’re someone your not, If you look in the mirror and don’t like what you see, You can find out first hand what it’s like to be me"
and in this one he's telling teens to just be themselves and I thought the whats under your shirt thing was reffering to your heart.

They can care less as long as,
Someone will bleed
So darken your clothes,
Or stike a violent pose,
Maybe they'll leave you alone

LOL... oh yeah they're kidding their 'fans' (who dye their hair black just wearing black stuff ...)
this is great...
i hadn't expect anything like that on their new album.
it could be less soft but its ok^^

This song is about teenage gun crime. Gerard described it in an interview with NME saying that it's really bad that kids are killing kids

Obviously it's gotta have a feel for the concept of the album too, so it might have something to do with having to bow to peer pressure i.e. The Patient had to follow the crowd when he was a teen so he wouldn't get picked on

This is another song that isn't necessarily to tie into the story, but to touch on an issue. I think this song is edgier and more controversial than Cancer, because it talks about school shootings unapologetically. "If you're troubled and hurt, what you got under your shirt will make them pay for the things that they did!" it's not saying its bad or good, its just giving the way the kids who do it think.

To tie into the story, maybe the patient is recalling his teenage years, and the Black Parade shows him the lives of many other teenagers: scared, alone, picked on just like he was. It could show him empathy for others, show him that yes, his life was rough, but so is everyone else's. I see this as the Black Parade tellin him "So you've suffered...WE HAVE TOO. Suck it up and get over it. There's more to life."
