Lyrics for Mama as interpreted by AbsolutionAgent_gMs

Mama Lyrics
Mama, we all go to hell.
Mama, we all go to hell.
I'm writing this letter and wishing you well.
Mama, we all go to hell.

Oh, well now, Mama, we're all gonna die.
Mama, we're all gonna die.
Stop asking me questions, I hate to see you cry.
Mama, we're all gonna die.

And when we go don't blame us, yeah,
We'll let the fire just bathe us, yeah,
You made us oh so famous
We’ll never let you go.
And when you go don't return to me my love.

Mama, we're all full of lies.
Mama, we're meant for the flies.
And right now they're building a coffin your size.
Mama, we're all full of lies.

Well Mother, what the war did to my legs and to my tongue,
You should have raised a baby girl
I should have been a better son
If you could coddle the infection, they can amputate at once
You should’ve been
I could have been a better son.

And when we go don't blame us, yeah,
We'll let this fire just bathe us, yeah,
You made us oh so famous,
We'll never let you go.

She said "you ain't no son of mine"
For what you done they're gonna find
A place for you and just you mind
Your manners when you go.
And when you go don't return to me my love,
That's right.

Mama, we all go to hell,
Mama, we all go to hell,
It’s really quite pleasant except for the smell,
Mama, we all go to hell.

Mama, Mama, Mama, ohhhh.
Mama, Mama, Mama.

Liza: And if you would call me your sweetheart, I'd maybe then sing you a song.

Gerard: But there's shit that I've done with this fuck of a gun,
You will cry out your eyes all along.

We’re damned after all.
Through fortune and fame we fall.
And if you can stay then I’ll show you the way
To return to the ashes you call.

We all carry on,
When our brothers in arms are gone,
So raise your glass high, for tomorrow we die,
And return from the ashes you call.

I always thought about war in general whenever I heard this song, but recently I watched a movie called "Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny" and I noticed that in it Rasputin repeatedly calls Tsarina Alexandra "Mama." During the part where he tells her that millions will die in rivers of blood (referring to World War I) I just thought to myself "Mama, we all go to hell." And then I listened to the song again and it fit the movie reeaaaaally well. I dunno if MCR actually wrote it with World War I/The Russian Revolution in mind, but that's what I'm going to think of when I hear it from now on.

The intro sounds like a cheap knock off of Green Day's "Misery".

I think this song is kind of a reassurance. At least that is how I see it. Kind of an apology in a way. He knows he is going to hell and he is basically apologizing and reassuring his mother. She knows he is going to hell and is afraid she will never see him again. He's pretty much saying "Don't worry about me. We all end up in hell anyway!"

Thats just how I see it.

I heard that Gerard's mum and Frankie's mum sing backup vocals in this song. What do they sing? I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING! SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME! HUURRRRRRRYYYYYYYYY UUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPpppp!

I'm done.

Wait, are they the one's crying at the end, or the ones singing backup during, "We all carry on, When our brothers in arms are gone, So raise your glass high, for tomorrow we die, And return from the ashes you call."?

Great Song.
I Think The Part About Us All Going To Hell,
Is Just Gerard Way's Saying,We Can't Always Be Good.
We'll All Screw Up One Time Or Another,And He's Just Not
The Type To Get Down And Beg For Forgivness. So He Lives
Life The Way He Wants,Therefore,We All Go To Hell.
It's Not Saying He's Like An Athiest Or Something.

I believe this whole song is about someone who has gone insane and killed someone. His mother is asking for details and he doesn't want to tell them to her because he doesn't want her to be ashamed of him:

"Stop asking me questions, I hate to see you cry."

Also, the reason he's saying we all go to hell is to justify the fact that no matter what he did, he'd go to hell anyway. I love how his mother also has some dialogue:

"you ain't no son of mine"
For what you done they're gonna find
A place for you and just you mind
Your manners when you go.
And when you go don't return to me my love,
That's right."

It's also very disturbing in the end with the "We're damned after all" chant. I think that is the point in time where all hope is gone for this person and they've really gone insane...
