Lyrics for Mama as interpreted by AbsolutionAgent_gMs

Mama Lyrics
Mama, we all go to hell.
Mama, we all go to hell.
I'm writing this letter and wishing you well.
Mama, we all go to hell.

Oh, well now, Mama, we're all gonna die.
Mama, we're all gonna die.
Stop asking me questions, I hate to see you cry.
Mama, we're all gonna die.

And when we go don't blame us, yeah,
We'll let the fire just bathe us, yeah,
You made us oh so famous
We’ll never let you go.
And when you go don't return to me my love.

Mama, we're all full of lies.
Mama, we're meant for the flies.
And right now they're building a coffin your size.
Mama, we're all full of lies.

Well Mother, what the war did to my legs and to my tongue,
You should have raised a baby girl
I should have been a better son
If you could coddle the infection, they can amputate at once
You should’ve been
I could have been a better son.

And when we go don't blame us, yeah,
We'll let this fire just bathe us, yeah,
You made us oh so famous,
We'll never let you go.

She said "you ain't no son of mine"
For what you done they're gonna find
A place for you and just you mind
Your manners when you go.
And when you go don't return to me my love,
That's right.

Mama, we all go to hell,
Mama, we all go to hell,
It’s really quite pleasant except for the smell,
Mama, we all go to hell.

Mama, Mama, Mama, ohhhh.
Mama, Mama, Mama.

Liza: And if you would call me your sweetheart, I'd maybe then sing you a song.

Gerard: But there's shit that I've done with this fuck of a gun,
You will cry out your eyes all along.

We’re damned after all.
Through fortune and fame we fall.
And if you can stay then I’ll show you the way
To return to the ashes you call.

We all carry on,
When our brothers in arms are gone,
So raise your glass high, for tomorrow we die,
And return from the ashes you call.

Its about WWII. I think that hes telling a story with the song, like how the Nazi soldiers were in human and his mother hated him for doing it but he didnt have a choice. Theres a lot of hints at that in the song. "Dont blame us when we go" means that he wants to wished farewell and to have his mother tell him she loves him but she thinks what hes doing is wrong and he feels angry. Its all part of the story of the patient

i think "you made us oh so famous" is kind of linked to the part in life on the muurder scene, where after the band finds out about the large amount of sales, mikey says that his mum probably bought all of them, except for like one.

it sez "And right now they're building a coffin your size."- i remember watchin this war movie and they had the coffins ready built for the bodys.

Well, I don't know what this song was supposed to mean, what it represented to the band, etc, but every interpretation is valid and this is mine.

To me, it's a narration about finding it difficult to adjust to being back home again after being on duty in a warzone. There's anger and disgust at what a person has had to do, fear of persecution and a feeling that they're not the person they were before they left - hence a feeling of estrangement from their mother and yet, still, a feeling of brotherhood with the men they fought with.

It's an immensely powerful song.

Now I know this song is about the Patient and Mother War from the storyline of the album, but along with Mother War being a metaphor, I believe she symbolizes Hitler's mother, who I've heard been called "Mother War" because of the fact she gave birth to the man who practically started WWII. To me, it sounds like Hitler venting out his anger on his mother, who spoiled, yet neglected him, then kind of disowned him after he wasn't accepted into that arts college. And for the record, I'm a History Nut, NOT a Nazi Nut!

I personally think that this is one of the best tracks on The Black Parade - I love the Italian/European feel to it, especially towards the ending chorus. Sounds like The Patient or whoever the song is about is going off to war/in war, writing home to his mother and saying that she should have had a daughter who wouldn't have gone off into combat, and that he's doomed to die on the battlefield. He's going the hell because he's killed others in the war along with his fellow soldiers.

"We all carry on,
When our brothers in arms are gone,
So raise your glass high, for tomorrow we die,
And return from the ashes you call."

Basically, the troops will carry on even when they lose comrades from the fighting. They're pretty much toasting their deaths that'll happen tomorrow. As for the final line, maybe he'll return from the ashes (cremated?) and haunt or revisit his mother.

This happens to be my favorite part of the entire Black Parade album. The tune is beautiful and the lyrics are very thought provoking. It's a simple meaning: patient went to war, did stuff he knows is wrong, and confesses to mommy. :)

I'm pretty sure this has to do with a soldier who went to war. He is so disturbed by the things that he saw and the things that he did he is left in shock.

This is a great song, but I find it alittle weird that this is my mother's favorite song off the CD.

This reminds me of the First World War. This song conjures up images of a gray, desolate landscape filled with horrible, horrible things. Thats just what I think of when I hear this song.

This is the only time I have ever been actually terrified during a live gig. The start of it is pretty scary... with all those bombs going off... and the whole feel of the song is pretty creepy too, even more so live than on CD...

So when I saw this song live I kind of got really caught up in it and I kinda forgot where I was... And during the bit where Gerard screams 'Mama' over and over there was all this fire... and I swear to God, for a moment I really thought I was dead and in hell or somewhere. Really scary shit. So then we were all screaming... I don't think I've ever been so scared in my life. And it was all because of a stupid song. Lol.

I love this song. ^^ I'm not quite sure what it's about, it seems quite sinister. At first I thought it was about an argument between Gerard Way and his mother but I think I agree with your guys' suggestions about war. It fits. Awesome song. ^^

You people clearly do not understand this album! Its a very powerful concept record. Its about the journey of a cancer patient whose dying. The First song is the Black parade. My chemical romance believes that heaven is where you go back to your favorite memory. In this case, the patients favorite memory is of a parade his dad took him to when he was very young. Its called the black parade because its a parade which is happy, but its juxtaposed with the fear that comes with death. Through out the album you are taken on an odysey. in 'Cancer' the patient speaks of the pain of leaving everyone. In this particular song, the patient is writing a letter to his mother voiceing his fears that he will go to hell. And of course, the last song on the album is Famous Last Words, in which the patient is leaving his final mark on the world.

Hope I Helped! Its really simple if you just listen to the music. not just HEAR it but LISTEN. The theme carries into all of the other songs. See for yourself!

I think its about someone who goes to war and he feels ashamed of himself afterwords for killing so many people, people who had families and lives, etc. So he's saying "mama we all go to hell" (for killing other people) and 'But there's shit that I've done with this fuck of a gun' Thats just how i saw it...

People has said that this song sounds like "Mother" by Pink Floyd but I reckon the concept kinda hints at "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen.

Anyway fucking great song. MCR are heroes.

People have said this song reminds them of the Holocaust i think it does too acept its not told
from a prisoners point of view, i think its told from a German officers point of view, who knows the war is nearly over
and is showing extreme remorse for what hes done... let me explain

At the start there is the sound of bombs dropping signifying the end of war when the camps were liberated

The soldier is sitting writing a letter to his mother and attempting to explain himself and that he will most
probably be killed for what hes done "mama were all going to die"

the part "stop asking me questions id hate to see you cry" is him not wanting his mother to ask about what hes done because he dosent want her to know what atrocities he is responsible for

the next part is him realising the government and leader he so strongly believed in has ended up ruining his country and its people "Mama, we're all full of lies" "And right now they're building a coffin your size" this line also states that the german citizens also suffered in the war concidering hes telling his mother the coffin is being built for her

He then goes on to explain how the war has effected him and his mind "Well Mother, what the war did to my legs and to my tongue"

he then explains he feels regret about not being a good son and wishes he could change things "I could have been a better son"

The mother totally then disowns him after reading his letter "she said you aint no son of mine for what you done"
and tells him she never wants to see him again "And when you go don't return to me my love"

the soldier has faced up to the fact that he will be going to hell and has accepted it "its really quite pleasant acept for the smell" showing that hell couldnt be as bad as what hed done and witnessed

His conscience still torments him "but theres shit that i done with this fuck of a gun"

So he sits and waits for his soon coming fate and prepares for his surrender "so raise your guns high, for tomorrow we die"

thats my view of it let me know what you think
