Lyrics for Famous Last Words as interpreted by shealerevenge

Famous Last Words Lyrics
Now I know
That I can't make you stay
But where's your heart?
But where's your heart?
But where's your...

And I know
There's nothing I could say
To change that part
To change that part
To change...

So many
Bright lights, they cast a shadow
But can I speak?
Well is it hard understanding
I'm incomplete
A life that's so demanding
I get so weak
A love that's so demanding
I can't speak

I am not afraid to keep on living
I am not afraid to walk this world alone
Honey if you stay, I'll be forgiven
Nothing you can say can stop me going home

Can you see
My eyes are shining bright
Cause I'm out here
On the other side
Of a jet black hotel mirror
And I'm so weak
Is it hard understanding
I'm incomplete
A love that's so demanding
I get weak

I am not afraid to keep on living
I am not afraid to walk this world alone
Honey if you stay, I'll be forgiven
Nothing you can say can stop me going home

I am not afraid to keep on living
I am not afraid to walk this world alone
Honey if you stay, I'll be forgiven
Nothing you can say can stop me going home

These bright lights have always blinded me
These bright lights have always blinded me
I say

I see you lying next to me
With words I thought I'd never speak
Awake and unafraid
Asleep or dead

(How can I see, I see you lying) 'Cause I see you lying next to me
(How can I see, I see you lying) With words I thought I'd never speak
(How can I see, I see you lying) Awake and unafraid
(How can I see, I see you lying) Asleep or dead

'Cause I see you lying next to me
With words I thought I'd never speak
Awake and unafraid
Asleep or dead

'Cause I see you lying next to me
With words I thought I'd never speak
Awake and unafraid
Asleep or dead

I am not afraid to keep on living
I am not afraid to walk this world alone
(Or dead)
Honey if you stay, I'll be forgiven
Nothing you can say can stop me going home
(Or dead)
I am not afraid to keep on living
I am not afraid to walk this world alone
(Or dead)
Honey if you stay, I'll be forgiven
Nothing you can say can stop me going home
(Or dead)
I am not afraid to keep on living
I am not afraid to walk this world alone
(Or dead)
Honey if you stay, I'll be forgiven
Nothing you can say can stop me going home

I think it's a sort of love song. "Because I see you lying next to me
With words I thought I’d never speak
Awake and unfraid
Asleep or dead.." that's very pretty ♥

I this this song is gorgeous. I don't really know what it means in regard to the rest of the cd and "The Patient" and all of that... I don't really know what it means at all even in general.

In some aspects I think it's sort of a love song, and in some aspects I think it's sort of a power anthem. Because he talks about love, and he talks about not being afraid. Maybe it's not being afraid because you have somebody next to you, with you.

I don't really know, this is just my take, after having listened to it like three times in a row.

When MCR first came out (the first song I heard was "I'm Not Okay") I didn't think much of them, but every consecutive song they've released has made me like them more and more. This is my favorite so far.

Something I have noticed that links this song with the song "Sleep" on the same album is that on this track, when they sing "Asleep or deeeaaad" at 3.41, the drum beat is exactly the same as the drum beat that is played on the track 'Sleep' when the drums first come in. Dunno if that is intended, as they are both about sleeping - just an observation. I'll post this comment on the SongMeanings page for 'Sleep' aswell.

i laugh... haha. in the video for "famous last words" (the video came out not too long after "welcome to the black parade") the bandmates of MCR are wearing their costumes they wore in the welcome to the black parade video. they are burning the float that also appeared in the black parade video. i though that was interesting!

For me this is a kind of sad and happy song at the same time. It means the end of a deep sentimental relation. The things didnīt work how the lovers expected. They are living in different worlds, different countries or whatever.

One of the lovers always thought he or she would not be able to get by by her or his own in this different world.

However, with the pass of the time he or she realizes he or she is able to get by by himself or herself.

ĻI am not afraid to keep on living
I am not afraid to walk this world alone.Ļ

At the end one part must continues with his or her path...leaving behind one of the persons he or she loves more in his or her whole life.

The other feels regrets and try to make him or her stay...but the other part answers to him or to her:
ĻNothing you can say can stop me going homeĻ

Good hear the song once.
But not too many times.
Itīs depressing.

its apretty simple song but is the hidden message that he is going to be differnt and huney if u stay you will be forgiven? meaning if you stay in the normal trend thats ok to he will still love her?

I heard the album is about his parents' death so maybe whoever is dying is really close to him so after they die he'll be alone and he's surprised he's not afraid.

i ttly agree w/ raine697... this song brings tears to my eyes *sniff*. does ne1 else hear 'honey if you stay, YOU'LL be forgiven' rather than 'I'LL be forgiven? just wondering. cuz if im not the only one, I'd say the chorus sounds like he's moving on from one love to someone else, and the girl is saying that she'll forgive him if he just stays with her. but then again, im an uneducated fan and dont really no wat im talking about :). i luvs this song no matter wat it means

i love this song. its so sentimental. the chorus where he says that he isn't afraid to die and that he'll walk this world alone, it's like he's giving ME an advice to do so. this song has given me a lot of courage

Yes, this song is good. I honestly though at the start that it said "no no." I was like okay then...

Anyways, I love the line "I am not afraid to keep on living, I am not afraid to walk this world alone." It's really good lyrical form.

Yeah poor guy. Gerard has had some troubles with drugs apparently, right? I'm not sure I could stand being with the same people all the time, I guess you'd have to have a great friendship or a burning desire to play your music. Has anyone noticed this about their video? (I said this I think. Too lazy to go back and see, but I might have just told my friends)
1. They are wearing their costumes from Welcome to the Black Parade video.
2. They are burning the float from the Welcome to the Black Parade video.
3. The drummer looks at his pant leg for about 5 seconds at the end of the video.

Sorry I have too much time on my hands.

wow, I dont mean to be demeaning to those out there. But anyways, I feel like many of the interpretations are on the surface, and most songs on here are only described on the surface, unless it is more well known, then u hafta sift through about a thousand different interpretations and some are good, thought-provoking, and insightful. anyways, I think this song about someone battling their inner demons, yah I'm talking about heavy stuff, dissociation, multiply personality shit, but not so far as that they have reality distorted. anyways, the lines that made me think of this shit are the lines towards the end where it seems one is awake and unafraid, the other asleep or dead. I love how everyone who's gone through shit and gotten over it, doesn't take the knowledge gained and pass it on. but who knows, maybe me myself am stuck too far in the darkness to appreciate the light. regardless id figure that a few dark people would hav something insightful to say, especially when referring to this song. but i guess i am mistaken. perhaps all those people who've gotten out of shit are out living, which is probably what I'd be doing if I did. but for now im stuck in this shit, and I feel I got nowhere to go oh well, maybe too personal.
