Lyrics for Heaven Help Us as interpreted by strider3005

Heaven Help Us Lyrics
Hear the sound
The angels come screaming
Down, your voice
I hear you've been bleeding
Make your choice
They say you've been pleading
Someone save us

Heaven help us now
Come crashing down
We'll hear the sound
As you're falling down meds

I'm at this old hotel
But can't tell if I've been breathing or sleeping
Or screaming or waiting for the man to call
And maybe all of the above
Cause mostly I've been sprawled on these cathedral steps
While spitting out the blood and screaming
Someone save us

Heaven help us now
Come crashing down
We'll hear the sound
As you're falling down

And will you pray for me?
Or make me say don't leave?
And will you lay for me?
Or make a saint of me?

Cause I'll give you all the nails you need
Cover me in gasoline
Wipe away those tears of blood again
And the punchline to the joke is asking
Someone save us

Heaven help us now
Come crashing down
We'll hear the sound
As you fall

And would you pray for me?
(You don't know a thing about my sins)
(How the misery begins)
Or make us say don't leave?
(You don't know)
(So I'm burning, I'm burning)
And will you lay for me?
(You don't know a thing about my sins)
(How the misery begins)
Or make a saint of me?
(You don't know)
(Cause I'm burning, I'm burning)

Cause I'll give you all the nails you need
(I'm burning, I'm burning again)
Cover me in gasoline again

Heaven Help Us is about people who call themselves christians, but really aren't. They think they can get away with as many sins as they want, just because they claim there christian. "Cause I'll give you all the nails you need, cover me in gasoline". He means he tried to help, but the world crucified him for trying. "And the punchline to the joke is asking, someone save us!". And after they turned down the offer of salvation, the world then expects to be saved anyway. "You don't know, 'cause I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning again...". When he says "again...", he means he's (the patient, not Gerard) sinned before, meaning he continually sins again and again. The reason this song didn't make the cut for the album is because it would be a replacement for Famous Last Words. With Famous Last Words, the patient goes to heaven, but with Heaven Help Us, the patient goes to hell.

"Cause I'll give you all the nails you need"
and
"Cause I'll give you all the meds you need"
i think are both wrong =[
what are meds anyway lol??

sounds more like...

"Cause I'll give you all the mess you need"

and the next line says...
"cover me in gasoline (cause i'm burning, i'm burning"

it makes more sense..."Cause I'll give you all the mess you need"....burning to death with no doubt will cause a bit of mess...whether he's talking about suicide or murder...death is always messy whether it be...physically or psychologically...

wicked song
love my chemical romanceeeee

when was this song written?
because something about it reminds me of 06 - 06 - 06
revelations [or something in the bible among those lines] say stuff about the end of the world, the angels coming down, etc.

This song's actually on the japanese version of the album, i think right before Famous Last Words. i almost bought that, but then i found the special ed. and the wttpb single in the same store :]

and i'm pretty certain that "Or make me say don't leave?" is again "Or make a saint of me?"

i love this song its completely beautiful, I think this song could be about the relationship between the fans and the band. Well relationship is the wrong word. But anyway i think for example the first verse could be the band refering back to the fans about issues or something and the the 'someone save us' could be them calling out to the band. I know what i mean and i have loads of points to back ot up but cant put them down

It would make sense for this song to be about Joan of Arc.
But here's my take on it:

"Hear the sound.
The angels come screaming.
Down your voice.
I hear you've been bleeding.
Make your choice.
They say you've been pleading.
Someone save us."

I imagine someone dying slowly in a hospital. "The angels come screaming" when they "hear the sound" of death, or sense the person's impending death. Perhaps the person can't breathe very well on their own anymore, so they have tubes and oxygen helping them breathe, and they bleed eveytime a new tube is put in. Meanwhile, the relatives of the patient have been pleading for God to make his choice not to let the dying person suffer anymore and to save the familly from too much more emotional pain.

"Heaven help us now.
Come crashing down.
We'll hear the sound.
As your falling down."
Everyone involved wants

"Heaven help us now.

Everyone involved wants Heaven to help them get through such a hard time, and they can "hear" Heaven come crashing down to take the dying person.

"I'm at this old hotel.
But can't tell if I've been breathing or sleeping.
Or screaming or waiting for the Man to call.
And maybe all of the above.
'Cause mostly I've been
Sprawled on these cathedral steps
While spiiting out the blood
And screaming 'Someone save us!'"
The dying persomn is being so heavily medicated that they're really out of it and they "can't tell if" they've "been breathing or sleeping or screaming or waiting for the Mabn to call. And maybe all of the above." The "old hotel" isn't a hotel, it's the hospital."The patient is waiting for God ("The Man) to call him home. Perhaps one of the more miserable family members of the patient is the one "sprawled on these cathedral steps screaming 'Someone save us!'" Or it could also be that the patient dreams of laying on the cathedral steps screaming for someone to save us.

"And will you pray for me?
Or make a saint of me?
And will you lay for me?
Or make a saint of me?"
The patient is asking if his family will pray for him and if they'll make im a saint in their books.

"'Cause I'll give you all the nails you need
Cover me in gasoline
Wipe away those tears of blood again
And the punchline to the joke is asking
Someone save us"
"The punchline to the joke is asking 'Someone save us'" because the patient is going to die very son and it doesn't make any sense for anyone to ask for God to save him.

"And would you pray for me?
(You don't know a thing about my sins)
(How the misery begins)
Or make us say don't leave?
(You don't know)
(So I'm burning, I'm burning)
And will you lay for me?
(You don't know a thing about my sins)
(How the misery begins)
Or make a saint of me?
(You don't know)
('Cause I'm burning, I'm burning)"
The patient is once again asking their family to pray for them, and perhaps a priest who doesn't know the patient is givig them their last rites and tht's why he's saying to the priest, "You don't know a thing about my sins, how the misery begins."

"'Cause I'll give you all the nails you need
(I'm burning, I'm burning again)
Cover me in gasoline again"
The patient's condition is deteriorating and is saying nonsensical things?

Now to do what this site is for and analize the lyrics and tell the world what the song is about in your mind. I think that it is about a person who is a complete cynic who from experance thinks that praying for help is a pointless endevor because in gods eyes no one who isn't willing to sacrifice their lives like Jesus desereves to die. He's asking someone to help him show god two things. One it is a rediculous policy because Jesus is a holy saint, not something that everyone can be. Two that the only way do what god wants is rediculous. He's telling his friend to help him be a mayrtar because that's what he thinks god wants the world to be.

HELLO EVERYONE! (don't you notice how no one says a simple, "hi," on these pages?)

I think that it's about some one who's miserable and has a life-sucks-and-then-you-die attitude (ha ha not really) and he's calling for God and his angels and yeah....

I love the start... how his voice gradually gets louder. Yup. That's awesome. ALSO! Also! Also, how he goes, "SOMEONE SAVE US!" Then "Heaven help..."

Yeah it's awesome. I know. No, you don't know. NO, I know. How could you know? I just know. But how did you know that. I dunno. What do you mean you "dunno"? Why are you asking me this? I dunno. SEE, you said "dunno" too! Yeah, but- DON'T YOU BUT ME! SHUT UP, YOU IDIOT! YOU SHUT UP! NO, YOU SHUT UP! OH, SO MATURE! OH, oh who cares.

When I hear this song, I just kind of imagine a demented Gerard. You know what I'm saying? Like, with his face and neck and ears red, and cross-eyed, and with his long black hair again but it's covering most of his face and his tongue sticking out... Yeah that's what I imagine. Then these people take him to a "special" hospital and he's like, "WHat am I doing here?" and he's thinking, "SOMEONE SAVE ME!"
Yeah.

When I first heard this song, I just got this picture in my head of someone deeply depressed, close to suicide. Turning to religion because nothing else is working. Screaming for Heaven to help them- for God to help them, because they're in so much pain and they can't do it alone.

I think "wipe away those tears of blood again" could refer to cutting ( a form of self injury.)
Finally, God (or someone close to them) had come to save them and take their pain away, wiping away the blood they've purposely shed.

Just my opinion. :)
Great song, nontheless.
