You say that Gainesville's got no soul.
Well, that sounds like a good excuse for coming home.
And all these Tallahassee skylines, they keep singing out a song.
And know it's your song they've been singing all night long.
And this Galley Alley rooftop just keeps calling out your name to come and stay.

So stay.
So stay.

Stay and watch the stars come out and then the sun as they all fade away.
I'll sing every song I wrote
If it will make you want to stay.
And then I'll say.
That I missed you.
And these words.
They'll convince you

I poured through every song I wrote.
Every line that I've cried every note
That was spilt with this pen.
And every line in every song,
They all seemed to come out wrong.
Until your song.
So let's sing it all night long.
And this Tallahassee skyline hasn't changed.
While the view from every rooftop says to stay.

Stay and watch the stars come out and then the sun as they all fade away.
I'll sing every song I wrote
If it will make you want to stay.
And then I'll say.
That I missed you. And these words.
They'll convince you.

And I could call you baby doll all the time.
And you'd whisper in my ears.
You'd say "I missed you boy."
So sing it over again, and over again, and over again.
And I could call you baby doll all the time.
And you'd whisper in my ears, you'd say "I missed you boy."
So sing it over again, and over again, and over again.
And I could call you baby doll all the time,
you'd whisper in my ears,
You'd say, "I missed you boy,"
sing it over again and over again and over again

Still you'd say that I missed you
and these words they'll convince you
And I'm happy as I kiss you

And I could call you baby doll all the time.
And you'd whisper in my ears, you'd say "I missed you boy."
So sing it over again, and over again, and over again.
And I could call you baby doll all the time.
And you'd whisper in my ears, you'd say "I missed you boy."
So sing it over again, and over again, and over again, yeah

General Comment:I live in Gainesville! For those who don't live in Florida, Gainesville is the home of University of Florida and Tallahassee is the home of Florida State University. We are major rivals (especially in football), so growing up in Tally, I'm sure they had a dislike for our college town ;)

General Comment:To me, this song seems like he had a girlfriend that went away to Gainseville, but is coming back to visit tallahasse, and he is so happy to see her. She is just visiting , but he wants her to stay. he is basically saying that the "Galley Alley rooftop just keeps calling out your name to come and stay" she belongs to this town, that its practically singing out a song for her to stay.

He is trying to convince her to stay, and enjoy the city sights, the sunset the stars! Anything to keep her by his side. He tried so hard to write her a song that will convince her to stay. And if she does stay, they can call eachother cute nicknames "babydoll" and they will live happily ever after..

BUT! this actually doesnt happen. Its only what he desires, and he wrote this song in an attempt to keep her in tallahassee. :)

General Comment:I think what you think is an accent is just the way he is say " and I'll call you baby doll all the time." Because it does sound a little diff then the rest of the song, to me.

I don't think Derek (the person they're referring to) actually has an accent other than a modern-american-accent (if that's what you would call it...). It's just that his voice is deeper, and sounds very much different than what you would usually hear in today's music. Or in all music, really. I personally really like his voice.

However, if he does have a different accent (it obviously does song different, but I don't think you can consider it any one-particular accent like Aussie or Norwegian). If that is a cultural accent though, my bad.

Anyways, I think people understand what this song is about. On the surface, at least.

General Comment:Well, first of all, this band is really into where they're from. AKA, TALLAHASSEE. I've met these guys more than once, and I know Brooke's cousin. They're all amazing.
Galley Alley is a series of rooftops, in downtown Tallahassee, where many band members /skater /punk /cool kids go. [It is now fenced off, and you cannot get up there anymore.] But before, you could go up there after a show at the local Beta Bar, or Floyd's Music Store, and meet many new people. Band members and such.
