Swim in the river ascending
Free of fear filled with purpose
Nishikigoi fights through oceans adversity
Against the current to obtain the highest goal

Swim through our sins of suffering
Climb to the falls of dragons gate become
Transform from koi into a beast, dragon

A living symbol of courage
No wave will shatter these scales (shatter the scales)
Dreams of free from pours
Pours of the dying
Water falls up ahead
What they left to do

Swim through our sins of suffering
Climb to the falls of dragons gate become
Transform from koi into a beast, dragon

To have a shot
To becoming a
This dragon will rise and be king

I'm a witness to a burning form
Evolution is complete
A breath that turns into clouds producing rain of fire
Watch the world move according to each desire

Swim through our sins of suffering
Swim through our sins of suffering
Climb to the falls of dragons' gate become
Transform from koi into a beast, dragon

General Comment:While I do agree with the fish turning into a dragon legend, I also think this song could talk about a weak person becoming stronger. They had a lot of struggles and challenges, but they managed to find a way to overcome and they have become stronger. They have turned from a koi to a Dragon. Which is cool, because I admire Dragons.

Song Meaning:The meaning i take out of this song other than the litteral one about a koi becoming a dragon is that weak things may become strong through adversity "Nishikigoi fights through oceans of adversity
Against the current to obtain the highest goal" Pluse its just a kick ass song one of my faorites.

General Comment:This song is an allegory to Trivium and how they went through the music biz even though there are people that think they suck (because they are ignorant rancid vagina lovers) they still went through it and they have become more mature and also better musicians (especially their work on shogun)

General Comment:I can't stand how people compair bands to other bands. Trivium is Trivium, and they aren't trying to copy anyone. Sure, their biggest influences are Metallica and Iron Madien, but that doesn't mean they're copying. Also, who cares why they changed their singing. I love Trivium because of the music. Pure and simple. I like the music that just so happens to have screaming in it, and those who don't have it. Have your oppinions, all of you, but don't come to the point where you're saying that a band sucks because you don't like what they do. If a band truly sucks, then they'd have no fans, contracts, or what ever.

On another note, i don't think that this song has any metaphoric value, because not all songs are supposed to have one. I also agree that the song is a story about a fish turning into a dragon, because Matt Heafy is Japaneese, and was probably told that story when he was a child, or what ever.

But i would like to say that if this song is an alegory, than it's also about the maturity of a person. How they must conquore challenges to reach your dreams. The goals might be increadibly difficult to fulfill, but in the end, you'll be at the top.

General Comment:ok, 1st, the song is an old chinese legend as Caedes said. 2, trivium are the young guns and metallica are legendary....what comparison is there? 3, heafy and hetfield's vocals are different, tonewise. and 4, if y'all hate new trivium so much, comment their older work...or go to a band you actually like...it aint that hard
