    My Interpretation:i think it could be about trying to protect someone who wants to hurt their self. maybe he had a suicidal friend and is fearing that they may try to do it, (or it could the person dreaming). and people, remember that this is MY INTERPRETATION!!!!!! dont go off on me for what i think its about

    General Comment:Okay I think this song is about the guy having a dream and it is telling about the situation in his life, I can compare it to a relationship. The garden he is in is supposed to be the lovely paradise like a good relationship and all around it was mayhem and the man he sees is his future self warning him about the relationship, as in walking in the shadows and need a better way is he can't keep backing down or hiding from the feelings she causes and needs to stand up for himself or the relationship will be ruined and he will have his own "apocalypse" and the part about never sleeping is that if he just lets this happen he will be trapped in this hell or "never waking up from the bad dream" which has become reality.

    General Comment:This song reminds me of the story "The Devil and Tom Walker" by Washington Irving. When i heard it for the first time all I could think about was the description of the the man in the woods. hes holding an axe in the rain. The character in the story "The Devil and Tom Walker" is described as having red eyes, dark skinned, he has an axe, and Tom meets him in the woods. Ronnie supposedly said that the song goes out to everyone who has felt like they had been betrayed. In the story the devil betrays Tom Walker. The url is the best description of the character i could find. They seem very similar in the story if you read the whole thing. Those are my thoughts. :)
