Lines form on my face and hands lines form from the ups and downs
I'm in the middle without any plans I'm a boy and I'm a man
I'm eighteen and I don't know what I want eighteen I just don't know what I want
Eighteen I gotta get away I gotta get out of this place I'll go runnin' in outer space oh yeah
I got a baby's brain and an old man's heart took eighteen years to get this far
Don't always know what I'm talkin' about feels like I'm livin' in the middle of doubt
'cause I'm eighteen I get confused every day eighteen I just don't know what to say eighteen I gotta get away
Whoa lines form on my face and my hands lines form on the left and right
I'm in the middle the middle of life I'm a boy and I'm a man
I'm eighteen and I like it yes I like it oh I like it love it like it love it
Eighteen eighteen eighteen eighteen and I like it

General Comment:In 1971, Alice Cooper (when Alice Cooper were a band) scored their breakout hit with "I'm Eighteen." Bruce Pollock meets Alice Cooper's drummer, Neal Smith, who talks us through the writing and recording of this 70s anthem, from its primordial Pink Floyd beginnings, to Warner Brothers' rather negative reaction to the track! - songfacts.com/blog/interviews/neal_smith_-_they_re_playing_my_song/

General Comment:Today is my 18th birthday. About 6 months ago my mom made the foolish decision to move with my grandparents to another city and take me away from the place where I grew up. She pulled me away from all of my friends that I knew for years. But the thing that bothered me the most was the fact that she never got along with my grandmother and i knew that they were gonna have problems and i was right because today my mom announced to me that she is moving out. I am faced with staying with my grandparents, moving with my aunt in another state, and moving in with one of my old friends in my old city. My grandfather might have cancer and we won't know anything until DEC 27th. There is so much going on in my life I am going insane!!!!!!!!!!!! GOD THIS SONG IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEED 2 HEAR!!!!!!!!!!

General Comment:This is a good anthem for young adults, who feel growing up had it's hard times only to realize once you reach the next stage of life you're more or less on your own and need to be more independent and start making serious life choices which can be overwhelming. This is a period of time where you face the most adversity, and it can be stressful where you just want to magically disappear and have all of your problems not follow you. The bottom line is line is tough for most people, and it's a grind and a struggle and I think this song represents all of those feelings at a crucial point in life where you're not old but you're certainly not young any more.

General Comment:Alice Cooper wrote this song while the Vietnam war was going on. It tells about how all these farmer kids who were just 18 and how they didn't know what the hell they were doing hold a gun.

General Comment:This song is about the controversy of how 18 year olds were old enough to join the army but not old enough to vote. A big dispute at the time because Vietnam was still in action.
