Ah I love this song! It's funny and sad at the same time (like some of their other stuff). And it's obvious what it means. The poor guy is traumatized by rejection from a snobby girl.

I agree with coffeekat on this.
The protagonist/narrator has been rejected by a girl and is very disappointed and feels like he wants to hurt her for the pain she has wrought upon him but he can't.

Near the end it sounded a little Sonic Youth-y to me.
Not that that's bad, just an audible observation. :]

Ten bucks says the line "To just walk up to her and hit her" is a reference to Velvet Underground's song "There she goes again" the line's "You see her walkin on down the street

well, fuckyeah... i want to hit him too. well, in my case its a him. he hurt me! i want to hit him... but i can't. i like him. but... hes not perfect, hes still... human.

i enjoy how he admits his perfect girl is probably god. not pointing to religion or anything in the song, just pointing to the fact that hes created this fake ideal in his head... shes not "her" but still, he likes her anyway.

This song is about kevin and nina in their rough times of marriage (they are now just boyfriend and girlfirend) when he was cheating witha women named Eva (mentioned in Bunny Ain't No kind of Rider) and how they had sex a lot but he kept swearing to himself that he would stop (he told us at a show in florida she was kinky, kinda explaining the riding crop thing...) He was trying to tell her goodbye and she got defensive and turned his apology for this decision (rejector part) and this was just another thing that him and nina did not need. (according to him) PS: he signed my shirt
