This song is a shot at Dan Bejar (Destroyer), and nobody can convince me otherwise. The only two words that come to my head to describe Bejar's lyrics (as Destroyer, anyway; he's good with the New Pornographers) are labyrinthian and pompous.

Of montreal is my favorite band, i saw them in concert and i absolutely love every song and this one is very funky it reminds me of Prince, its my second favorite song on HFAYTD, i love how it ends with "don't look at them" it leaves me wanting moooore

Who is Georgie Fruit?
I've read it's a friend of Kevin's but is it a he or a she or what?

It reminds me of Pink Floyd at the "de Gaulle..." part.
I thought he was saying "soul superior" as opposed to "so" but I'm probably wrong.
So as to the meaning? I was thinking of a pompous celebrity...

Theres something that is really wierd with this, the girl in the song says "du er ikke den som ödelägger fitta" in norweigan, iam from sweden but swedes understand norweigan.

but the thing is that, "du er ikke den som ödelägger" is a translation of "you are not the destroyer" but fitta is a very obscene word for a womans vagina.

hahaaha thats so fucked up.

Wow Bajset, that basically solidifies one of the theories I had on controller and destroyer spheres. In the liner notes he thanks the controller sphere for not becoming the destroyer sphere yet. But in the song he says the controller spheres (plural) have disappeared. I believe that the controller spheres refer to male genitals and the destroyer sphere to female...stick with me here for a moment. Georgie Fruit is appearantly a Black transvestite in KB's imagination. This process of losing one's "controller" spheres for a "Destroyer Sphere" would fit that, and if fitta means vagina then...there you go.

According to wikipedia, Georgie Fruit is the glam-rock alter-ego Kevin Barnes turns into for the last 5 songs of the album. Thus things getting funkier and "sassier" after "The Past Is A Grotesque Animal", I guess. Also, in regards to destroyer spheres, norweigan, and the female anatomy, I think it's maybe not to be taken literally and could just mean "you are not the destroyer, you pussy!".

CCAA has been driving me crazy! because they have it on their stand for the synth...or something. and ya georgie fruit is the alter ego... its very obvious when you see them live..although i didnt get to see it because our show the power blew and they played acoustic. but las vegas show anyone??! haha

Actually the female vocals on those two songs are provided by Nina Barnes (Kevin's wife/girlfriend).

CCAA is bothering me too! A bunch of people from the Elephant 6 message boards started bugging the band about the meaning after their shows, and Kevin has said that he promised the originator that he would never disclose the meaning. And now from what you said, its like they're teasing us with these CCAA signs and hoodies too. Ahh =p

also (double post alert!) i love the way he says "don't look at them!" its sounds so different from anything ihe sings. i like it a lot.

p.s. flamingo dream- oh how i wish i could have been at the vegas show. but the milwaukee show was badass as hell, so i won't complain.

interesting, no? i can definitely tell which songs are georgie fruit, but i'm not sure which are list kristy, or chandelera and champagne.

Bajset, really.. She most definitely does not say "fitta". It's more likely the norwegian word "futtet". So: "Du er ikke den som ødelegger futtet". Where "futtet" could be translated into english as.. the energy / spark. It's most commonly used when someone is very energetic and full of life / joyful - i.e. they have a lot of "futt".

Also, a more direct translation of "du er ikke den som ødelegger" is: "you're not the one who destroys".

And yea, I'm actually norwegian, not swedish ;)
