Lyrics for A Sentence of Sorts in Kongsvinger as interpreted by delial

A Sentence of Sorts in Kongsvinger Lyrics
I spent the winter on the verge of a total breakdown
While living in Norway
I felt the darkness of the black metal bands
But being such fawn of a man
I didn't burn down any old churches
Just slept way too much, just slept

My mind rejects the frequency
It's static craziness to me
Is it a solar fever?

The TV man is too loud
Our plane is sleeping on a cloud
You turn the dial, I'll try and smile
We've eaten plastic weather
This family sticks together
We will escape from the south to the west side

My mind rejects the frequency
It's just verbosity to me

I spent the winter with my nose buried in a book
While trying to restructure my character
Because it had become vile to its creator
And through many dreadful nights
I lay praying to a saint that nobody has heard of
And waiting for some high times to come again

My mind rejects the frequency
It's static craziness to me
Is it a solar fever?

The TV man is too loud
Our plane is sleeping on a cloud
You turn the dial, I'll try and smile
We've eaten plastic weather
This family sticks together
We will escape from the south to the west side

My mind rejects the frequency
It's just verbosity to me

Dirty old shadow, stay away
Don't play your games with me
I am older now, I see the way you operate
If you don't hurt me then you die

My mind rejects the frequency
It's static craziness to me
Is it a solar fever?

The TV man is too loud
Our plane is sleeping on a cloud
You turn the dial, I'll try and smile
We've eaten plastic weather
This family sticks together
We will escape from the south to the west side

My mind rejects the frequency
It's just verbosity to me

Love this song, correction: Dirty old "shadow," not "child." Atleast that's what I hear.

I always hear just laughed way too much, anyone else get that?
An amazing catchy song. Every time I hear it I get reminded of Yoshi or something. It's amazing :D

I love the "is it a sollllar fevver" part, it's just so - happy? No, that's not the right word. But I love it.

"my mind rejects your frequency, it started craziness to me"

shouldn't that be
"my mind rejects your frequency, it's static craziness to me"???

this is my favorite song off of HFAYTD
its so cute and has the best tune and i love how it sounds like raindrops at the beginning and end. I've been trying to figure out the meaning. like maybe someone keeps trying to get his attention but he's just in another place and its not coming accros "its just verbosity to me" idk if someone gets it do tell.

I get a "stuck in the realm of my imagination" feel from the song.

I adore Kevin Barnes' diction.

This song is so funny, especially that church burning stuff. Barnes is saying what probably every Norwegian is thinking during the winter, 'cause it gets so cold and dark and depressing here..

Yeah, except that it's about his depression problems that he had been having (and I hope you know about that!)

But yeah, this song is my favorite on Hissing Fauna.

Yup, I know, and I don't mean to be disrespectful or anything about that, but still. Depression gets ten times worse during the winter here. Trust me.

This is the only good song i've heard off the new album. They've lost that hoppy 60's happiness which made them so great. Now they just sound like a generic 80's new wave band. Yuck. This song is good though.

I love when a song is about something sad but sounds fun and upbeat.

I also love the ads generated on this page. "Explore Norway's Coastal Towns On The World's Most Beautiful Voyage!"

^^^^^Haha yeah I'd love to vacation in Norway and get super depressed.

I think this song is pretty much about depression in the winter time, a condition known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). When the sun finally does come out it's like entering a manic phase. (hence the solar fever?)

I listen to most of my music through very high-end earphones and do not hear the word "frequency". It makes sense and do not doubt it, but it sounds more like "frailty" or "foresee"... could be some production trickery.

on depression. i like this song alot, it captures the mood of a depressive mind. depressed - not as in feeling down, more like the clinical state of mind where you feel so small and fragile for a longer period of time.

"Just slept way too much, just slept"

Sleeping is maybe the only escapism you get in a depression.

"Dirty old shadow, stay away
Don't play your games with me
I am older now, I see the way you operate
If you don't hurt me then you die "

Love this part. fighting your demons and reassuring yourself that you will win. maybe a sign of having the strenght to take yourself out of that dark place.

i was in norway during the summer and i thought it was cold, dark and gloomy..haha! i had sort of an uneasy feeling too.. maybe it was their love for black metal music or their viking history or the fact that they have trolls evrywhere but i was scared! haha beautiful place though!

oh and i like the song too!

lightyears, i have to wonder, where were you? i mean, the summer's not dark here, not nearly everybody enjoy that black metal shit, and we definitely do not have trolls everywhere, unless you go to tourist places where the tourists are fooling themselves to believe that we actually have a thing for trolls..

oh, bergen, that explains everything. though it's a beautiful city, it's well known for the rain that only occasionally stops, so i guess it could appear pretty dark:)
