Lyrics for Cloud Nine as interpreted by Liquid-Spear-Waltz

Cloud Nine Lyrics
If you want to live, let live
if you want to go, let go
I'm not afraid to dream- to sleep, sleep forever
I don't need to touch the sky
I just want to feel that high
and you refuse to lift me

guess it wasn't real after all
guess it wasn't real all along

If I fall and all is lost
its where I belong

If you want to live, let live
if you want to go, let go
I'm never gonna be your sweet, sweet surrender

guess it wasn't real after all
guess it wasn't real all along

If I fall and all is lost
no light to lead the way
remember that all alone is where I belong

In a dream
will you give your love to me
beg my broken heart to beat
save my life
change my mind

If I fall and all is lost
no light to lead the way
remember that all alone is where I belong

I think this song might be about the end of a relationship (probably written about Shaun[?].) To me it's sort of like looking bad on a relationship and seeing all the time you wasted on it as wasted, since it was never going anywhere in the first place.

Yeah i have to agree. The new songs seem very attitude-ful. (Invented a word).

the more i listen, the more evanescence sounds like "fighter" by christina aguilera. very attitude-ful, like midnightfairy25 said.

the main problem i have with these new songs is that certain notes are held waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay toooooooooo loooooooong (like that)

This is a good song.
The beginning is the best cuz when they start the song, it has a haunting sound.

Aaah people using my word. I shall die happy.

But in something i probably should have mentioned before and should be talking about more. I think this song is Amy wanting somebody to love her. Their not being what she wants so she needs to let them go but she can't let go of the fact that she could still have them if they were who she wanted them to be.

Lord knows if that made sense or if it is even correct but that's that i think.

I honestly thing this song is about giving up beliefs about God. When she sings "If I all, and all is lost- it's where I belong," I think she is saying that if she makes a mistake, she will have to pay consequences and no 'spiritual' force will be there to save her.

"Guess it wasn't real after all, guess it wasn't real all along" I think this line is pretty self explanatory.

"If you want to live, let live- if you want to go, let go" I think this line relates to the first line I quoted about recieving the consequences of any action- yet without faith.

No, I think whoever said it was about breaking up was spot on, Amy said this about it:

"It's about breaking up. There are a lot of relationship struggles on the record. I always write about what I was feeling, because then it's genuine. I was struggling with a relationship and felt like a waste of space. The first lyric says it all, "If you want to live, let live/ If you want to go, let go/ What are we doing here?/ Because I can live without you."

the new album is rubbish. it's uncomparable with their pervious. most of the songs don't follow a certain way. they become some kind of gothic i name BALL gothic.
please stop saying it's a good album

it was really cool that amy wrote about what she felt and all, but i kind of sucks that she "wasn't really thinking about the fans" when she was writing the album- it makes it less relatable and catchy. i mean, i know the whole screw-mainstream part of it, i'm not disagreeing with the people that approve the weird new sound, i'm just saying...fallen had a certain mystique to it. and now this album seems more random and hard to follow. i still like it, it's just...different.
oh well. evanescence is unique, and they've proved that yet again with this album.

This is about a relationship ending, for sure. There were certain things Amy wanted to feel, to receive, yet she never got those things, so she feels she must move on alone.

This song is my favorite so far. It took a few listens for it to grow on me, but now I love it! It's different, but reminiscent of their Fallen stuff.

I dunno, I just love the tone difference of Amy's voice between "Guess" and "it wasn't real after all".

I love all the attitude in this song. Not only in the lyrics, but in the way she sings it as well. Amy Lee kicks ass.

As many people have already said, this album takes a couple of listens to really like. I think this is one of those albums where you won't hear the real thing on the first listen, so don't dismiss it right away (unless you really aren't into these kinds of things). I've given it a couple of listens, and I must say, catchy or not, Evanescence is Evanescence, and I do like this album very much.
So, it honestly doesn't bother me whether Amy was thinking about her fans or not when she was writing her album :P

I didn't like this song at first... but now, it grew on me (still not my favourite, LITHIUM ROX MY HEART).
I think the song is about love. Not having love... and deserving not to have love, even if it wasn't her fault.

I think people prefer Fallen over the Open Door because of the way the lyrics were written, and who was behind the songwriting on Fallen? Ben Moody.
Is he still in the band? No.
So naturally this CD is gonna sound different. This is all Amy and Terry's writing. Which i'm sorry to say isn't as good as Ben's. But come on now, the guy's working with people like Lindsay Lohan now all so that his music can become mainstream and commercial and that's kinda why he left. The rest of the band didn't wanna go in the same direction as he was.

As for the song........ok so its about a breakup/weakening of one's faith..........i still don't get the title though.

I find deadlypoison's view about losing your beliefs in god interesting. If you think about it, the song describes it very well. But I do think it was publicly said that it's about relationships (wich sux, cuz i dont like things to be so focused on them). i luv the song tho, and the title really does make no sense.

The loss of belief in God is what I thought of the first time I heard this song, or something similar anyway. To me it sounds more like something said by a fallen angel. Curiously enough, Whispers on the album Fallen made me think of the same thing.
