Don't give up
It's just the weight of the world
When your heart's heavy
I, I will lift it for you

Don't give up
Because you want to be heard
If silence keeps you
I, I will break it for you
Everybody wants to be understood

Well, I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don't give up
Because you are loved
Don't give up
It's just the hurt that you hide

When you're lost inside
I, I'll be there to find you
Don't give up
Because you want to burn bright
If darkness blinds you
I, I will shine to guide you
Everybody wants to be understood

Well, I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don't give up
Because you are loved
You are loved

Ah!
Don't give up
It's just the weight of the world
Don't give up
Everyone needs to be heard
You are loved

General Comment:I personally think the song as a peace song. It makes me think about how people in the third world have no voice and he is telling them to never give up hope. I love the line: "If darkness blinds you, I, I will shine to guide you". They want to be noticed and people should be helping them so we can guide them to a better life....that's how I perceive it.

General Comment:It is such a joy to hear a classically trained voice sing a contemporary song. Whether this song is about The Divine, Atlas singing to the Pleiades or simply Josh I think the angels sigh regardless. I just heard it twice in three days for the first time and there were no glotises, no vocal fry, no artificial "vocal enhancements" save microphoning and balancing his natural resonance in the studio environment. (Not that there isn't a place for that at times) In short, there were no flavor of the month vocal tricks other singers often mimic off each other. He just purely and beautifully creates a true intimacy rather than a faux familiarity. Oh Josh, say you mean it, say you do!

General Comment:Yeah, I think the meaning is pretty self-explanatory, but as far as "who's singing it" is up for grabs. What I like about Josh Groban is that his songs all have positive meanings and can be interpreted by anyone. This song could be sung from God, or just someome who will be there for you in a situation. I like to interpret it both ways, but especially from God. :] GO GOD! <3

My Interpretation:This song is so beautiful and uplifting but it makes me sad as well as happy.

    Don't give up
It's just the weight of the world
    When your heart's heavy
I, I, will lift it for you
    Don't give up
Because you want to be heard
    If silence keeps you
I, I, will break it for you

It could be god speaking but it could also be a parent, lover, friend. Thats the amazing thing about songs, Everybody interprets them in their own way. The singer is saying that they will always be there no matter what.

I don't know why but i can't help feeling that this is actually Josh speaking to his fans and anyone else who wants to hear it, Maybe it's just me xxxxxxxx

The mass of planet earth is about 6,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 kg. I would give up.

General Comment:I don't understand why people feel the need to see this song as being from/about God specifically. To claim Josh Groban is a Christian artist is to narrow down his fanbase considerably -- he makes uplifting music, yes, but the beauty of it is that it can be interpreted in both spiritual and secular ways. I've never heard God referenced in any of his non-classical songs; even You Raise Me Up is meant to be taken any way it's needed.

I think the weight of the world line means that even though its hard, don't give up, things can get better and i'll be there for you.

General Comment:The first time I heard this song I was in a horrible place and I felt really sad. I know it sounds silly, but when I heard it, I felt like everything just stopped. When I listen, it feels like he's singing to me, and I can pretend someone cares about me.

I mostly just see it as a friend / S.O. helping you out song. As someone saying, hey, I still care about you, and I'll help you out. But that's just my opinion.
