Lyrics for Poison Cup as interpreted by eeny

Poison Cup Lyrics
One
One
One
One or two won't do
'Cause I want it all

And a sip
A sip
A sip or a spoonful won't do
No, I want it all

And I hope
I hope
Hope you know what I'm thinking of
I want all of your love
I need all of your love

She said
"If love
If love
Is a posion cup
Then drink it up

'Cause a sip
A sip
Or a spoonful won't do
Won't do nothing for you
Except mess you up,"

And I hope
I hope
Hope you know what this means
I'm gonna give you everything
I'm gonna give you everything

This song is amazing. I want it to be my wedding song. My eyes water every time I hear it. It's basically saying that their love consumes them so much that they want all of each other. I had that kind of love... sigh.

Love isn't perfect. It has ups and downs. But it has to be all or nothing. You have to take the bad, or poison, to get the good.

You have to fall in love completely. A little bit won't do.

It's not selfish to want it when you realize you need it.

"A sip or a spoonful won't do, cuz I want it all"

so this has nothing to do with drugs or alcohol?

dude, love is the ultimate drug. as lennon said "love is all you need". ofcourse he was doing drugs at the time. but still, love can make you change things about yourself you normally wouldn't.

This song means a hell of a lot to me. It was the first M.ward track I heard and it stopped me in my tracks. I went out and bought the CD straight away, listened to the track about 5 times end on end before I got to track two. Pushed through to the core, to my very being. I have fallen in love with someone i can't have at the moment, but i get a sip and spoonful of her love and it messes me up, and she's the same, it messes her up, but i want everything, everything she can give. Thanks M.ward 'cause this song does it for me. Cheers

spanwayhits: You have to fall in love completely. A little bit won't do.

That's pretty much exactly what it is.
Unless you're in love completely, and give it all, it will mess you up.

It means that you can't half ass love. It's all or nothing. You can try to have a piece of someone you need but it'll screw you up, because you can't only have a piece of them. So when you do drink it up, when you let all of you be consumed it's going to be amazing and it's going to be bad. And you have to just dive in. Just take all of it, the good the bad, the amazing and the terrifying, because there's no such thing as half assing real love.

The most romantic part of this song for me is when he sings "A sip or spoonful won't do / Cos I want all". To me it means, he wants her completely. Not just one part of her. He wants to love her for everything she is, for every human, flawed, beautiful part of her. But the song is sung ambiguously, so you could be singing it to anybody. I love that it's not gender defined.

Perfect lyrics, I didnt catch it at first but when i did i could totally relate to it...

I want nothing but all her love and she only gives it out spoonfuls at a time, and thats all it does mess me up

I'm hearing some different lyrics to the stuff above so I was just wondering whether it was copied straight from a sleeve or just what somebody heard?

I think the song starts with 'wine' rather than 'one' but it could go either way. My main problem is with the last line which I think sounds closer to 'I'll forgive you everything'. When I listen to it, I could imagine it either way with the 2nd last line but there's no way he's saying 'gonna' in the last line - it's just one syllable!

Maybe it's just my ears though...

Awesome song with either version though!

I agree with Mac Attack. Although I like the "I'm gonna give you everything" part more than the "I'll forgive you everything" cause at some point, you just can't forgive everything.

This song was used in the last scene of the Series 1 Finale of "Married, Single, Other" on ITV1 in the UK
Very moving scene
