I wake up at the end of a long, dark, lonely year
It's bringing out the worst in me
I hear your voice start breaking in fear
When the lights go down

And I still feel you looking over my shoulder
Your sinking guilt and approaching nightmare
And I know none of us will survive
Because I know everything

Alright

And my dear I need you to move a little faster
This second counts as the rest of your life
Your final word and an itchy finger
And then it's taken away

And we'll be beaten down without mercy or meaning
I turn my face to a careless skyline
I'm searching hard for a sign from heaven
But they've forgotten me here

You can just stop talking, I get it
I hear your silence loud and clear
I know it's barely a thought but it'll see us through
I'm only setting you free so just let it happen
Just let it happen, no need to fear
Yeah you can just stop talking, I get it

Sex, f*ck, and fluorescent lighting
A hollow point on an angry bullet
We're on the teeth of a crocodile
We're in the mouth of the gun

And sometimes at night I feel I'm just a broken vessel
An instrument with a darker purpose
I'm at the throat of the young and the helpless
Because they've got nothing to say

So you can just stop talking, I get it
I hear your silence loud and clear
I know it's barely a thought but it'll see us through
I'm only setting you free so just let it happen
Just let it happen, no need to fear
Yeah you can just stop talking, I get it

General Comment:For some reason, the lines
"And I know none of us will survive
    Because I know everything"
Feel like Mark is talking about Tom, or rather +44 and blink182.
I think he is talking as to how if thise "war, rage" continues, neither one of their new bands is going to survive. Like it's a deathmatch.

    General Comment:Two theories

One its about the break up of a relationship, after the sex becomes dissatisfying and there is nothing left to talk about.

The next theory I would venture, and this is just a personal interpretation. I see the stereotypical college students in the woods about to be killed by a monster. The premise of most horror movies. There is an honest anguish in the voices. They are about to die for the entertainment. I think that somehow the narrator of the song has finally figured it all out. He has no greater purpose.

You can just stop talking I get it is the end of useless dialog because nothing will save them. He tells her or him that giving up is the only thing left to do.

General Comment:Sometimes silence speaks louder than words & thats excatly what this song is about. & no there it isn't actully about blink 182, people need to grow up and realise he didn't write the album about blink.

General Comment:Mark wrote one song about tom it was called "no it isn't" he said that most of the songs wern't about blink.

And i think the line "i hear your silence loud & clear" means you don't have you say anything, i just get it and understand but you being silent.

General Comment:Urm... i guess since you guys really nailed the whole media thing....

Urm anyways i thought this song was about how the person thinks HE is a lycanthrope in his life. Maybe not literally, but he feels like he is this horrible monster inside of himself and that he fears what he could do.

General Comment:Well, when I first heard the song, before it was announced this song was about Blink's breakup, I thought this song was abuot a girl smothered by her parents, or at least going through a rough spot with them, who tries to rebel and ends up as a pornstar in front of a bunch of people not knowing what to do...

The "long, dark, lonely year " refers to her disagreements with her parents, to where she feels like she is alone in the world, which brings out the "worst in her" i.e. her endevours into porn.

And even when she is doing this she still feels her parents "looking over her shoulder"

In the third verse, she is thrust into the porn world, but has a bit of fear and reluctance
"And my dear I need you to move a little faster
This second counts as the rest of your life" refers to a manager in the industry's impatience with her reluctance, and he is basically sayign that once she gets in, she might as well go all out because once you are in it, you cannot leave.

In the next verse "You can just stop talking I get it...etc. etc." the industry guy is further trying to convince her to stop fearing and "just let it happen"

in the next verse, "sex, fuck and flourescent lighting" refers to filming or whatever which leads to her submission to her role in the porn industry
"a hollow point on an anry bullet, we're at the teeth of a crocodile, we're in the mouth of the gun" refers to the crossroads she's at. Although the situation is not literally life and death, it is a metaphor for her killing off the life she could have had had she not goine through with this whole pornstar thing.

" An instrument with a darker purpose"
The first first time I heard this I thought it was refering to something dirty (use your imagination) but after a while I began to think of it meaning her journey has come full circle and she is just anouther tool for the porn industry.

"I’m at the throat of the young and the helpless
Because they’ve got nothing to say" further explains her role as the manager who initially pulled her in, she is "at the throat" of these new girls, metaphorically taking their life like hers was taken.

The final verse is the same one as when she was pulled in, emphasizing the self perpetuating cycle of the industry, which is similar to lycantrrhopy, when someone will change into something they're not and continue to turn others (werewolf biting people who then become werewolves too).

    I hope that made sense

General Comment:I agree with pretty much everyone else here
All the lyrics sound like Mark's view of the blink/tom aftermath.
With the lycanthrope/werewolf theme, it could be relating Tom to a werewolf...
