Lyrics for House Of Wolves as interpreted by AbsolutionAgent_gMs

House Of Wolves Lyrics
Well
I know a thing about contrition
Because I got enough to spare
And I'll be grantin' your permission
'Cause you haven't got a prayer
Well I said hey hey, hallelujah
I wanna come on, sing the praise
Let the spirit come on through ya
We got innocence for days

Well I think I'm gonna burn in hell
Everybody burn the house right down

And say, ha, what I wanna say
Tell me I'm an angel
Take this to my grave
Tell me I'm a bad man
Kick me like a stray
Tell me I'm an angel
Take this to my grave

(Say it lover say it) x4

You play ring around the ambulance
Like you never gave a care
So get the choir boys around you
It's a compliment, I swear
And I said, ashes to ashes, we all fall down
I wanna hear you sing the praise
I said, ashes to ashes, we all fall down
We got innocence for days

Well I think I'm gonna burn in hell
Everybody burn the house right down

And say, ha, what I wanna say
Tell me I'm an angel
Take this to my grave
Tell me I'm a bad man
Kick me like a stray
Tell me I'm an angel
Take this to my grave

You better run like the devil
'Cause they're never gonna leave you alone
You better hide up in the alley
'Cause they're never gonna find you a home
And as the blood runs down the walls
You see me creepin' up these halls
I been a bad motherfucker
Tell your sister I'm another
Go! Go! Go!

And I should say, what I wanna say
Tell me I'm an angel
Take this to my grave
Tell me I'm a bad man
Kick me like a stray
Tell me I'm an angel
Take this to my grave

Tell me I'm a bad, bad, bad, bad man
Tell me I'm a bad, bad, bad, bad man
Tell me I'm a bad, bad, bad, bad man
Tell me I'm a bad, bad, bad, bad man
So get up
So get down

Yes I, yes I, yes I am

I think the songs between WTTBP and disenchanted are flashbacks of different periods of the patients life.

And this flashback seems to be about a time when he was a really arrogant f*cker that didn't care about anyone except himself. He treats people like sh*t and doesn't care if someone gets hurt. He doesn't care if he goes to heaven or to hell, but probably hell. And he have a "Oh, come on father, try to save my now!"-mocking-sarcastic-attitude.

Instead of interpret this one-sentence-at-a-time, this is the over-all-feeling I get when I hear this song.

i love this song, and i actually feel like it describes my life. people try to tell me to be a good Christian and that they love me, but yet they kick me when I'm down and condemn me. i think that's what the song is about.

idk. that's just my opinion and interpretation. this song is truly unique though. i give mcr props for originality.

Well he's actually saying "S-I-N, I S-I-N, I S-I-N..." Where you wrote "Yes I am" and where you wrote "Say it lover say it"
Just a heads up.
I'm still trying to really decipher this song. It's pretty incredible. I'll tell you when i do.

Y'all quit trying too hard, please?

He uses "The Patient" in the album as nothing more than a common thread for a number of different songs. This in particular is mocking the way that mass organized religion has become.

When I hear this song it brings to mind a kind of feeling, it's hard to describe, but I don't know if there's even a word in the English language for it, "rebellious" dosen't cut it.

The feeling is when you are being condemned and people accuse you and try to hurt and mock you...but rather than feel hurt...you just take it with a smile, somehow you feel proud of being an awful person to these people because you know they are not the saints they want you to be.

I dunno, to me this is kinda when the patient is probably visited by a priest or something and it told he's going to Hell for the bad things he has done and he laughs it off(maybe because he knows the priest is just as bad as him?), or maybe as someone suggested, it was a time when he was a total jerk.

The beginning of this song really sounds like the beginning of "Supermodel Robots" by The Network, which is a New Wave band that has about 1000:1 odds that Green Day is involved.

This supports my idea that with this album My Chemical Romance was thinking about Green Day and their success with American Idiot, or at least Reprise Records was. I hardly think it's a coincidence that they used the same producer (Rob Cavallo), the same video director (Samuel Bayer)-with two videos that flow together mind you ("Holiday" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" vs. "Welcome to the Black Parade" and "Famous Last Words") and then procede to make a concept album, which The Black Parade being a concept album is arguable. Also, the beginning of "Mama" sounds very much like that of "Misery" by Green Day, although Cavallo did not produce that track.

For one thing, it's S-I-N, I S-I-N, not say it lover, say it, same with the yes I am at the end. For me, the "n" at the end of S-I-N is heard rather clearly.... Just saying.

I think my interpretation of it has already been said by someone else, so I'll leave that alone.

But this is an amazing song. I can't help but to airguitar to it at points, sadly enough. xD

This might be the patient's recollection about being a badass. The song's too kickass to concentrate on the finer details.

I know this isn't the real song meaning but I always thought of it this way:

There is a boy, his mother, his father and his sister. His father loves his sister and not him. And his mother loves both her children.

There is a fire, his mother dies and he goes to the hospital. His father and sister never visit him again.

The first stanza is about how the priest comes to comfort him, but he only wants his mother. So he starts mocking the priest.

In the second stanza he hears his mother is dead but the entire house didn't burn down. Enraged he wishes the entire house burned down with it.

3rd stanza: He stays in the hospital for reasons other than burns, but for mental help. They think the fire tramatized him but really it's his father issues (Tell me I'm a bad man, bad son?). Or it could be he is burned so badly and wants to talk about his father but physically can't. Either or.

4th stanza: He has a girlfriend but she can't see him like this? Or she moved away? Either way, I think the 'lover' still loves him. He just doesn't know it.

5th stanza: I think the people playing ring around the ambulence is how he thinks he's going to die and they are joyous he's dying. He compares these shadow children to his father. And begins to rant about him. He knows his father never loved him 'play ring around the ambulence like you never gave a care! ' and 'ashes to ashes we all fall down' an example of his father's lack of sympathy and compassion. But he wants his father to love him, to praise him.

6th stanza: An example of how his father's cruelty has effected him. Making him beleive he is responsible for his mother's death and worthless. Hence, how he is going to burn in hell.

7th stanza: Same as third stanza.

8th stanza: The 'you better run like the devil' line I think applies to his girlfriend, or maybe his paranoia that he is responsible for his mothers death and believes she will haunt him? The last few lines talk about how his mother died ('blood runs down the walls'). Again his father's love for his sister and not him is mentioned. And the 'go go go!' being his mother screaming for him not to try and save her.

9th stanza: Same as third and seventh.

10th and 11th stanza: talks abot how his father's critisim has finally driven him overboard and he fully believes it.

-----------------------

Okay, before anyone says anything this is not the right meaning! But this is how I always thought about it. What it made ME feel. And isn't that what poetry and music is about? Interpertation and feeling? Anyway, hope this makes you think. 'Cause I'm really enjoying reading other peoples' interpetations and the actual song meanings! :)

This guy obviously is talking to God before he dies or a priest. And so hes telling this patient that he'll give him a chance because hes got enough to spare "I know a thing about contrition cause i got enough to spare. and I'll be granted your permission cause you havent got a prayer" Then he starts saying something like come on start singing these praises, get God coming through you. We've got innocence for days. Which is a little off making the priest which i think thats what he is, seem a little sarcasstic. Than it says tell me Im an angel take this to my grave. So tell me Im a good person let me go to heaven. Or tell me i'm a bad man and kick me like a stray, in other words send me to hell.

Than at "you play ring a round the ambulance like you never gave a care" in other words you play death all the time and do all this horrible things not knowing that if you keep it up when you die you'll go to hell. So get the choir boys around you its a compliment i sware. So lets get the choir boys in other words to mourn your death. but its a compliment i swear because he supposedly believed in God and is going to heaven. So dont worry about it type of thing. I hope i havent like lost anybody. lol.

You better run like the devil cause their never gonna leave you alone. In other words you better run to your priest or what not because the demons are never going to stop haunting you or people arent going to stop tormenting you about your faith. So run to your priest to get saved. Or you better hide up in the alley cause their never going to find you a home. So get saved or hide in your home or a place because people arent ever going to find you a place to go to, like hell or heaven, your never going to know where you want to go. Make since? Than this is the part where I think the person has gone to hell.

As the blood runs down the walls you see me creepin up these walls. I've been a bad motherfucker tell your sister im another go go go. So This must be a different person. Its like one person went to hell and is being tormented and he sees blood and stuff. than he sees the guy climbing up the walls and getting out of it. Than i've been a bad person so tell your sister that I'm another. and go go go! So Tell your sister im another person and that i've changed and I'm not going to hell or bother her.

And thats my interpretation. I hope you agree with it. lol sorry it was so long.

This song has mixed meanings to me, though nobody seems to understand some of them, i'll tell you anyways.
Animal Rights,
Accidental Death,
Faux Religeon,
The Plauge,
Suicide.

Suicide is my main choice though. This song describes the stages of suicide in detail.

I, in a way, agree with kurs10. The man is about to die, for what ever reason, and though people all tell him that he is going to go to a better place like heaven he says he wants the truth. He wants them to tell him he is an ass hole will go to hell. At first he says that there are people how need and deserve their reassurance because they acultly are going to, go to heaven. He wants the surrounding people to be honest and kick like should be because he is a bad, bad man.

Well,
I think that he's been a bad, bad, bad, bad man so he's saying, "I WANT THE TRUTH! TELL ME IF I'VE BEEN GOOD OR BAD, SANTA CLAUS!"

Yeah.
When I hear this song, I imagine Gerard being kicked and tortured and lying on the ground and he's like... still singing.
Like, "OW! Stop kicking me! PLEASE! MAMA! WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE! SO SO LONG AND GOODMORNING! OW! And say, OW, what I wanna say, OW. Tell me I'm an angel, STOP IT! Take this to my grave! ARGH! That was my BALLS!"
Yeah.

That part, when he goes, "You play ring around the ambulance Like you never gave a care So get the choir boys around you It's a compliment, I swear And I said, ashes to ashes, we all fall down I wanna hear you sing the praise I said, ashes to ashes, we all fall down We got innocence for days," reminds me of that nursery rhyme. The one that goes, "ring around a rosie, a pocket full of posie, tishoo a tishoo we all fall down."
That nursery rhyme is about the Black Plague so I guess this song could be about dying and all that and going to hell. So most of you are probably right. I dunno. Everyone's right.
