Lyrics for I Don't Love You (Like I Did Yesterday) as interpreted by AbsolutionAgent_gMs

I Don't Love You (Like I Did Yesterday) Lyrics
Well when you go
Don't ever think I'll make you try to stay
And maybe when you get back
I'll be off to find another way

And after all this time that you still ove
You're still a good-for-nothing I don't know
So take your gloves and get out
Better get out
While you can

When you go
Would you even turn to say
I don't love you
Like I did
Yesterday

Sometimes I cry so hard from pleasing
So sick and tired of all the needless beating
But baby when they knock you
Down and out
Is where you oughta stay
And after all the blood that you still owe
Another dollar's just another blow
So fix your eyes and get up
Better get up
While you can

When you go
Would you even turn to say
I don't love you
Like I did
Yesterday

When you go
Would you have the guts to say
I don't love you
Like I loved you
Yesterday

I don't love you
Like I loved you
Yesterday
I don't love you
Like I loved you
Yesterday

Well there is a rumor that Gerard just broke up with his girlfriend of 6 years, not too long ago. I believe it may be referring to her? Although, I'm not sure if he even had a girlfriend...That's just what I heard. Anyway, whatever it means, I looovvvveee this song. It's one of the best songs on the album.

...and Gerard of course, in the video, looks AMAZING!
As always. =)

The Patient feels that his lover is going to leave him. Believing that she is, he asks her that when she leaves would she even say she didn't love him like before. He tells her she'd better get up and leave him while she can...soon he won't be there.

so ive heard the bert theory and the mafia theory, so i read the lyrics i and i got it... it makes total and complete sense to me. Bert is as we all kno a lil n the mesed up side, and gerard is quite clean. i think gerard was ok with berts ways at first but then he goes on tour or w.e and comes bak praying bert is changing, im guessing thay fought prior ro the leave. Anyways bert hasnt change and gerard is slowly realizing bert never will. hes telling him to get out. It cant be liek this me or that. Bert says gerard but then gerard catches him doing drugs or w.e he says fix ur eyes and get out. Before ur to messed up that i have to spend my nite taking care of u. Bert gets angry and gerard is thinking y cant he jsut say it? Jsut say he loves that more than me....hope this helps

lots of great ideas here!
For me, i feel i know exactly what this song is about.
I think it is about a couple, could be either his or her view point. Lets say it's from "his point of view; they are both aware the relationship is ending, yet neither saying "ok, its over", each for their own reason. Him because he truly loves her, her because she for selfish reasons. "so sick and tired of the needless beating" i think refers to their fighting, verbal abuse possibly. But he feels he loves her and can t let go no matter what, even though he can see the end, even though he knows she will just switch off her lovfe in the end, like the never even mattered. so sad.

i can really relate to this song. i think it's about not being accepted by people you love. in my opinion i think the line 'so sick and tired of all the needless beating' is referring to his heart. he doesn't feel like he has a reason to live because of this person.

i love MCR, but i like their old stuff better. anyway, where it says "Sometimes I cry so hard from pleasing" it should be "Sometimes I cry so hard from pleading"

I found something interesting about this song, after listening to it literally hundreds of times over the past what, nearly a year now since it came out? There are a lot of phrases in this song that relate to the lifestyle of addicts, such as "good-for-nothing", "down and out". I also noticed it in "This is How I Disappear" and "The Sharpest Lives"...when Gerard says "there's things that i have done, you never should ever know", "i'm drunk i suppose", "'cause i love all the poison, away with the boys in the band"...etc. i think Gerard may have employed a concept album to narrate his own personal story of how he got clean...which is pretty cool i'd say. =D I could be wrong, but whatever.

o, i almost forgot...when it says "another dollar's just another blow", there's only a couple things this phrase could mean. personally, i think it's referring to drugs and the desperation users find themselves in, just trying to get a fix.

i always thought it was about an abusive relationship, I dont see how it would be about bert mckracken i dont think gerard would say he loves him damn, its about one of the charecters of the black parade its a girl that gets abused but is afraid to step up and tell the guy shes had enough of it and that she doesnt love him like she used to, but thats just what i thought, if u wanna argue then email me at phil119idontgiveafuckwhatyouthink@hotmail.com

I'm totally with honeybeee87. I see this song as a last declaration of love to the person who's going, and is gaing without even haveing the gut to say the real reson for which he/she's going: becausne he/she doesn't love him/her anymore. It actually happened to me and I know these are the exact words I would have liked to say... "the needless beating", I see them as those fight that always come when a story is going on just for habit, and about "And after all the blood that you still owe
Another dollar's just another blow
So fix your eyes and get up" I don't see the association with mafia or drugs, I more get it as a metaphor about "after all you've spilled out of me, this is just an other drop"... I dunno, this is just how i see it... btw, sorry if my english is not perfect, italian here, and this is officially my first comment...cheers!!!

i think this song means...

well that no matter what happens and if time or feelings do them part, feelings will linger, pain will thrive, he'll try to let her go but if she goes... just that she will be honest, and just tell him "i dont love you, like i used to yesterday". and if she leaves, its because her love has faded and not to just leave him high and dry.

(maybe im just comparing it to what happened to me this month and im still not over it)

For me, what the song means is that the guy is letting the girl go. He somewhat feels that the girl doesn't love her as much anymore, so he decides to let the girl go even if it's hurting him. I think that other people thinks that it was the other way around. Like I hear my friends say that the guy is singing to the girl how HE doesnt love her anymore, while I think it is the other way around. The guy is actually singing (in the chorus), that if the girl even has the guts to say that he doesnt love him anymore.

The lines:
"So take your gloves and get out
Better get out
While you can"
-->refers to the fact that the guy is letting the girl, giving her a chance, while he still can bear the pain.

The chorus:
When you go
Would you even turn to say
"I don't love you
Like I did
Yesterday"
--->the lines actually says that the guy is asking the girl if she still has the guts to admit that he doesnt love the guy anymore, or at least even as much as before.

Great song.
