Lyrics for The Pieces Don't fit Anymore as interpreted by lauren_6_6_6

The Pieces Don't fit Anymore Lyrics
I've been twisting and turning,
In a space that's too small.
I've been drawing the line and watching it fall,
You've been closing me in, closing the space in my heart.
Watching us fading and watching it all fall apart.

Chorus
Well I can't explain why it's not enough, Cause I gave it all to you.
And if you leave me now, oh just leave me now.
Its the better thing to do,
Its time to surrender,
Its been to long pretending.
Theres no use in trying,
When the pieces dont fit anymore, Pieces dont fit here anymore.

You pulled me under,
I had to give in.
Such a beautiful myth,
Thats breaking my skin.
Well i'll hide all the bruises,
I'll hide all the damage thats done.
But I show how Im feeling until all the feeling has gone.

(Chorus)

Ooh don't missunderstand,
How I feel.
Cause I've tried, yes I've tried.
But still I don't know why, no I dont know why.
I dont know why......why!

(Chorus)

I really love this song. It sounds so sad and beautiful. It's one of my favourite James Morrison songs... I guess it's just about breaking up. Or at least he feels like they should, even though he doesn't really want to...
It's just a lovely song :).

This is the first (or maybe the second) song from James Morrison I ever first listened to. This song and its lyrics have so many special places in my heart.

Very nice song, It reminds me of the summertimes. I think it's about a guy who's trying to say to the person he's with, that they'd be better off apart, and they're not made for each other, and he's tried and tried to keep the relationship on track, but he sees it's falling apart and wants to end it as 'the pieces don't fit anymore'.

This song reminds me of how I lost my two best friends because I went out with them and now their being so unmature about the whole thing.
I've been drawing the line and watching it fall - im drawing a line to not to back to them but I break it and watch it fall.
Watching us fading and watching it all fall apart - obviously watching our friendship go away.
Just some things relate to it .. but i deffinetly think its about breaking up. And its super cute.

i love this song...because i really can identify with it...it's so sad....but i think those are the songs that touch me the most.

i mean giving up someone that you loved is very hard...and then accepting the fact that things have changed really sucks more than the letting go part. because you have been such an integral part of each other....it's almost as if you are losing a pert of yourself. after you try to work it out and things still don't change you really do think it's time to let it go...

"the pieces don't fit anymore"---people shouldn't be with someone who doesn't complement them...it hurts but letting them go is a way for you to get better...letting go hurts but it is also liberating....

First of all... this is the first song I have heard from James and it is beautiful! His voice is just incredible and I love this song.

THE MEANING: I feel this song describes a man who is being suffocated in a relationship (twisting and turning in a space thats too small). He has given the girl a lot of chances and has said enough is enough one too many times (drawing the line and watching it fall). But he is at a breaking point and realizes that they are two differenet people who want different things (the pieces just don't fit anymore).

He tried really hard in the relationship but he knows its time to end it and she should walk away. Sometimes letting go is harder than hanging on. I think this song is obviously about a break-up. You can give it your all, pretend that its working out but if the pieces don't fit then it just doesn't make sense. He isn't sure why its not working for them but it just isn't right anymore.

yeah...he said that the song was about a girlfriend he had...she was always on him about not having a real job to make real money...ALL OF THE TIME...and he said that he had had enough. i mean his life wasn't all that great eaither....his family didn't have any money...he basically had nothing....and then he meets this girl who isn't imporving his life....i would write a song like this too if i had been in his situation.

I can relate to this, whenever you get to that point with someone and you realize that it's just not right between the two of you. It's so sad.

I agree with Purifiedx, that part sends shivers down my spine.

"Well I can't explain why it's not enough, cause I gave it all to you" is one of my favourite lyrics of all time.

This song has so much passion

I beleive this song is talking about how you try to fix problems between you and someone
and you want to resolve things but they just continue to fight.. therefore nothing is ever fixed up.
and you cant handle it anymore.
and then it feels wrong

Your just continually trying and no matter how hard you try the line will just fall.
as he says "I've been drawing the line and watching it fall, "

its a real heartbreaking song
though i think the lyrics relate to alot of relationships.

This might be my favorite James Morrison song of all time. I nearley cried the first time I heard it, but at the same time, I fell in love with it.
It's just so beautiful, and a lot of people can relate to what he describes so perfectly!

It's a very emotionel song, but still so beautiful.

Aww, I love this song. It really showcases James Morrison's voice.

I'd say it's about knowing that a relationship has to end after you've tried unsuccessfully to fix it.

This beautiful song (really really beautiful!) is about someone who has to break up with someone else because it is the best thing to do. He still loves her, but the relationship is no longer working. It is a song that portrays regret, sorrow, mercy, love and honesty. Everyone can relate to it, as with all James Morrison's AMAZING lyrical soul ballads.
