Seeing them in April. I cant wait. this song is so sad. my aunt might have cancer,she has to go get a biopsy tommorow. Im scared. And,my grandmother has had Leaukemia. luckily she made it thru. Great song.

alot of my chemical romance's new album the black parade has "recycled" melodies in it, when i first listened to the songs house of wolves, cancer and i dont love you i was like I've heard these songs before. but infact i hadnt. i still think this album is a bloody beaut though.

The obvious interpretation, TO ME, is the one where the narrator is an adult explaining his feelings and thoughts to his love. He's also dying in cancer (quite overstated by now).

If you start peeling away details and such you'll get a song about how hard it is to come to the realization that relationships sometimes come to an end, one way or another.

In either case I find it to be a moving and straightforward song. My two cents ^^

I agree with edude about the relationships thing. I think this song is very deep and just really really beautiful, and even though there is no way to summarize how absolutely awful cancer actually is Gerard Way(the beautiful genius) does a perfect job. (In my own opinion)

My uncle died of cancer, and id gone up to the same town he was in in his last few weeks, but i wasnt allowed to see him, and ive since been told, that was because he looked basically like this, and he looked in pain, he told my aunty to not let me in, he wanted me to remember him happy and healthy, and this song, i dedicate to him.
He didnt wasnt to die, he wanted to be there for his kids, he didnt want to leave his family.

this is a beautiful song, which will always be meaningful to me.

Ths song means a whole lot to me. Everytime I hear it I want to cry. The whole album is special to me. My mother is suffering from stage four breast cancer so it just relates to the pain of the situation and makes me think what could be going through my mom's head when she knows they can't save her. =\

Also, They performed this song at VooDoo Fest in New Orleans and i remember swaying my Dad's cell phone in the air. Gerard had said, "This song is for people who have gone through so much, especially people in this city."

I got the CD the other day..I haven't seen them in concert..but there are lyrics on the cd cover (duh-er) if they're accurate(I should hope they are) then the song reads as so:

Oh yeah, and my uncle died of cancer as well. I'm sorry for your losses. It's kind of genetic in my family. I've had two family members die from it recently. The song is truly touching. I cry every time I hear it. I'm a newer fan...The older music rawks, but this new stuff..I dunno....it doesn't just rock..it has a deeeep meaning. Like most of their songs of course.
PS: Mikey is adorable!!!!!

Oh god. This song means so so much to me. I lost my grandad to cancer a while ago and I've never really gotten over it. I went to see MCR in concert a couple of weeks ago and when they did this song I broke down completely.
"Cause the hardest part of this is leaving you" just gets me every time. Its such a tragic line. I have to respect MCR a lot for writing this song. It cant be easy for Gerard and Mikey them to play after their experience with Cancer. It's such a moving song and I love it. Can;t get enough.

the first time i heard this song was on seventh avenue drop on fuse where they performed it live... i cried. there was so much emotion on gerard's face and voice. beautiful song.

this mainly explains what it felt like for me. lips chapped and faded. it was hard for my freind when he came to visit me"cause i'm awful just to see" and im still kinda "awful just to see" cause my face is different and disfigured.
i was allways "soggy" from the chemo. and after a while i just got fed up and started "counting down the days to go". i usually thought counted down the days to get out of the hospital bu i think in the song it meant die.

my Dad died from leukemia, so this song means a lot to me too. Every time I play it my mom starts to cry and says I can't play it any more, lol. it's cute, but in a sad kinda way, you know what i'm talking about

It's "the hardest part of this is leaving you" and "soggy from the chemo" according to the lyrics in the album cover.

I heard the album is about his parents' death so maybe one of them died of cancer?

I really like this song, but it's so sad. And whoever it was that said it was a recycled "Ghost of You" is full of shit, because it's not.
