sorry if my post offends anyone, but i realy dont like the fact they are using cancer as there look. it also just makes it seem like if you have cancer then you WILL die wich isnt true in all cases, i know this from my own experiances with family and friends

i think it's about cancer. That or drugs (look at me, i'm the average mong who wants to comment but is too busy watching X factor to think about the actual meaning, not that this song really has one, so i'll just find some lyrics that i don't understand and assume it's because the writer was high at the time, i am stupidity incarnate)

this song is pretty upfront with its lyrics. very detailed. i love the single piano and light drums.
it makes my heart beat louder whenever i hear this song.

This song like, makes me cry. It's not one to make fun of because this really happens in our world.
I think that maybe the patient was talking to a lover, or someone close to him. He says, call my aunt marie, because he knows that he will die, and is basically surrendering to death.
well thats what I think..

Have you ever listened to Jet's Get Born album? "Cancer" has the same kind of feel to it as one of Jet's songs: "Timothy."

I can see a lot of people had to comment before we finally got the right lyrics in here, but why doesn't deathb4birth cange them? The ones over here are all wrong... When he says "Cause I'm awful just to see", he means like he is awful to look at, so that there is no doubt about that.. There is no way it could've been "I'm awful just to think".

On the other hand, I LOVE the song... So brutal in one way, but so tender in another... Gerard Way IS a genius. There is no recycling here, only his intelligent mind that wants to do something to people in the world, make it a better place.. If I die from cancer, it will be great if I can look down from heaven and see people listening to this song in my funeral!

i have thaught the exact same thing.. if i die from cancer or someone i know, dies from cancer i definitaly are gonna play this song...

this song is.. ermh... so unbelievable it hurts.. god how i cried the first time i heard it.. (TRUE actually)
and yes..

Gerard is a genius no doubt about it!

....one part of this song annoys me so much
'baby im just soggy from the chemo'
ive loved mcr from the very begining and that part just makes me laugh.
saying that the song is amazing and very very upsettng as ive lost a friend to cancer.

I think if you have had someone close to you diagnosed with cancer this song makes more of an impact. because everything is dead on with the condition they are put in.

Well I guess the song talks about the pain that the guy of the song (in this case a cancer patient) must feel about leaving his loved people.

I don't see why some people think it sounds like The Ghost Of You. It doesn't sound anything like it to me....Anyway I think that this is the best song on the album....I read an artical in a magazine and Ray and Frank said they thought it was the best song on the album. ...(It was still my favorite before I read that though)

Kind of hits home since memebers in my family have died of cancer. I think its the patient finally coming to terms he is going to die real soon and what a ordeal cancer has been

i always though "it just ain't living" was " it's just eleven"
menaing the number of days he had left.. which made me even more sad, i couldn't handle knowing i had 11 days left alive..

i know that isn't really the lyrics, but i will always sing it like that :)

Aww this song is really about cancer? When I saw the title I didn't want to really listen to it because the topic is just too deep and sad.. And it happens to people.. But I downloaded it just to see if it sounds good and if theres a different meaning to it other than cancer.. It has a nice tune and its very meaningful... Explaining what a patient with cancer might feel before it's "time". But I agree with rustyhooker: I don't like how they used cancer as their look. It makes me sad:[

I still love listening to it.. Just not as much as I would if it had a different meaning..

This is just a reply to one of the songs you posted on. Cancer by MCR. I know you last posted it in a long time ago in September, but I think the lyrics really goes "'cause I'm awful just to see." Mainly cause before it, he tells them to turn away and not look at him. Not only does it make more sense, but if you listen to the track, it's clear there is no N or K sound. Maybe you heard it wrong.

this song personifies "the patient" so well how he is lonley and never lived it's deffenitly a tear jerker the cancer is a metopher for us to define for ourselves and all that.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against My Chemical Romance.
However...
This song...
Having recently lost my father to cancer, I thought this song might be a good song to listen to, however all it does is hurt. Hurt because of the loss, but also it hurts because it's wrong... The only line I can relate to would be 'my lips are chapped and faded'.
My Dad wanted to die, leaving us wasn't hard. I wished he'd be put out of his misery, because I knew he hated it. He wanted to die because of the agony the cancer was putting him through, the humiliation, he died the only way he never wished to go. Laying in a bed, unable to communicate other than by squeezing my hand, his eyes permenantly open, unblinking, his mouth dry... His skin tight to his bones. His once chubby and well rounded figure was skinny, 10 stone lost within 3 months.
If the cancer hadn't killed him, he'd have had a heart attack instead because of the strain his heart was put through.
The image is heart breaking.
And this song... It just doesn't do anything but hurt, and the hurt isn't the memories I have. It's the fact that the lyrics mean nothing in relation to how horrific Cancer really is.
I refuse to listen to this song, it simply makes me angry to the bone.

I have a special edition of the cd with an added track that talks about the meanings of the songs. In that track gerrard says that this song is actually about one of the band members themselves. He says that one of them have cancer.

I really love this song.....i personally don't know alot of people with cancer but i donate money too the funds and organiztion.....i a even growing out my hair for locks of love.
