Lyrics for Cancer as interpreted by deathb4birth

Cancer Lyrics
Turn away
If you could get me a drink, of water
'cause my lips are chapped and faded
call my aunt marie
help her gather all my things
and bury me in all my favorite colors
my sisters and my brothers still
I will not kiss you
'cause the hardest part of this
is leaving you

Now turn away
'cause i'm awful just to see
'cause all my hairs abandoned all my body
oh my agony
know that i will never marry
baby i'm just soggy from the chemo
but counting down the days to go
It just ain't living
And I just hope you know
that if you say
goodbye today
I'd ask you to be true
'cause the hardest part of this is leaving you
'cause the hardest part of this is leaving you

the correct lyrics are as following:

turn away
if you could get me a drink
of water cause my lips are chapped and faded
call my aunt marie
help her gather all my things
and bury me in all my favorite colors
my sisters and my brothers still
i will not kiss you

cause the hardest part in this is leaving you

now turn away
cause i'm awful just to see
cause all my hair's abandoned all my body
oh my agony
know that i will never marry
baby, i'm just soggy from the chemo
but counting down the days to go
it just aint livin
and i just hope you know
that if you say goodbye today
i'd ask you to be true

cause the hardest part of this is leaving you
cause the hardest part of this is leaving you

i got that from the $2 show. if you can't figure out the meaning of this song than i don't know what to tell you. it's so blunt. and i can't listen to it without holding back tears. it's just so brutally honest. wow. kudos to mcr for making yet another song. much f*ing love

I absolutely love this song. For so long I had claimed Prison as my favorite song. Heh. But I think that Cancer has taken that role now. I first heard it at the Hammersmith gig. Lots of people were crying, myself included, and my mum had to step outside, heh. So, it is such an emotional song, and it's a hundred times more emotional when you hear it live, I think. My grandpa recently died from cancer, so this song means so much to me. It hurts every time to listen to it because I'm definitely not over his death. But even though it's painful to think about, this song is so brutally honest that it's just the kind of song I need.

*uh*.the lyrics are good... but it seems like i've heard the melody a thousand times before. that's kind of sad i think.

I swear I cried the first time I heard this, the lyrics are amazing (no surprise there), and the meaning behind them is probably the strongest type of pulling through something that there can be. Something truly spectacular is captured inside eveyone of MCR's songs.

I've heard the live version and it still was kind've heartbreaking...even though I find My Chemical Romance a band that lives off of Gerard Way's note-holding vocals. It still had an impact.

absolututionFAGGOT, shut the hell up. uve no room to talk. we all know you go home and look up pictures of Michael Jackson touching little boys and u wack off. and all those journals about all the cute little boys by ur bed...those have been published. time for you to move on and grow up? leave the disrespecting to me?

besides the fact of him being an idiot, this song is probably the most meaningful songs ive heard prolly in a long time. like i said...im still no real fan of MCR but this album is a good one. this particular song was mentiond to me by a good friend and he said it was called "cancer" and that it was dedicated to me. i had no idea when he said "dedicated to me" but when he said it was called Cancer...i couldnt believe some band would actually be evil enough to write a song like that...but then i heard it and i cried. it was for me...and believe me when i say, it was for me twice.

you don't even know how to type my name right , Fag

most meaningful song you've heard in a long time? , i don't want to know your music tastes but there are better songs than this , ever heard about muse and radiohead? .
Leave this shitty band alone and start listening to some real music. My chemical romance only wants your money.

Number one, hullo, i have no life. The journal is something for me to do when I'm fucking bored out of my mind. If you notice, the updates are great periods of time apart. Number two, what the hell AbsolutionAgent? Saying MCR isn't a good band? Didn't you fucking post lyrics for them? Hypocrite. Look, I'm in no position to start an argument on here; I honestly can't stand it when people do. If you don't like MCR, you should leave && stop spamming the boards. Although FackingHell's posts usually are absolutely hilarious (=
But seriously, a lot of their new shit is probably touching thousands of lives as we speak. And I'm glad for that.

yes THE most meaningful song ive heard in a long time. what u dont understand that? TO BAD! YOU dont need to. and i dont care what the hell u have to say about my music tastes, but i will give u a hint...i thought u said rock is dead?, soooooo that incites that radiohead should like....become a suicide team or sumthin. if my chemical romance wants my money, they can have it because this band has touched me, let alone this song. and u want real music? go out and by Holywood, or Mechanical Animals. The End.
p.s. builets ur da bomb

thank you, butonechildofHim. I'm glad some people actually understand that My Chem plays music to save people, not to get their money.
Others who don't understand that concept usually either hate the band, or are complete assholes.

This is a really sad song. It makes me want to cry whenever i hear it, especially when Gerard sings, "but baby i'm just soggy from the chemo." it's really sad. The Black Parade is all about a guy who has cancer, and begging for another chance to live.

The sadness of this song is beautiful...My Chem took a pain of reality and turned it into beauty.

p.s...
the real words to this song are

"Turn away, If you could get me a drink of water Cause my lips are chapped and faded Call my Aunt Marie. Help me gather all my things, and bury me in all my favorite colors. My sisters and my brothers still. I will not kiss you. Cause the hardest part of this is leaving you. Now turn away. Cause I'm awful just to see. Cause all my hairs abandoned all my body all my agony. Know that I will never marry. and baby, I'm just soggy from the chemo, but counting down the days to go. It just ain't living. And I just hope you know. That if you say goodbye today. I'd ask you to be true. Cause the hardest part of this is leaving you. Cause the hardest part of this is leaving you."

im pretty sure the lyrics go like this

Turn Away,
If you could get me a drink of water
Cause my lips are chapped and faded
Call my aunt Marie
help her gather all my things
and bury me in all my favourite colors
my sisters and my brothers
still, I will not kiss you
Now Turn Away
cause I’m awful just to see
cause all my hairs abandoned all my body
I’m in agony
know that I will never marry
and baby I’m just Sogin from the chemo
and counting down the days to go
its just a Livin
and I just hope you know
that if you say
goodbye tonight
I'd ask you to be true
Cause the hardest part of death is leaving you
A woohaho
Cause the hardest part of death is leaving you

To those of you saying its unoriginal and recycled, f*** off.
To those of you saying 'yes, its a good song, MCR are still great', I salute you.

It doesnt matter if its recycled, it matters more whether or not it sounds good. If you dont like it, fine. Whatever. Not our problem. But as long as people like it, it doesnt matter how recycled it is. Its clear that they put alot of work into it.

I understand where people are coming from when they say that its recycled and blah blah.
Its just because its a simple song. I think its great, I listen to it over and over lol.
It sounds familiar to me too though, It kinda reminds me of a Jet song. "Look what you've done". The melody isn't the same or anything but it just reminds me of it. Its the mood of it or something.

I cry everytime I hear this song. It's very moving and extremely well written and performed. I really loved the $2 bill concert.
I say we should give them a round of applause! =]
