Lyrics for Again We Rise as interpreted by burnthepriest17

Again We Rise Lyrics
store-bought additude and spit
a sugar-coated piece of shit
an instant rebel, just add greed
another useless commodity
broken glass and a broken jaw
lies are told in a southern drawl
poor-house poverty's your shtick
the real thing would kill you quick

Rise, again we will rise

blood and fire used to fill the night
burnt and drowned by our very lives
you missed a sinking boat by years
dollar signs, crocodile tears
its over now and long has been
those days are gone wont come again
another name crossed off the list
the real thing would kill you quick

Rise, again we will rise

there's nothing for you to fight against
you're so unreal its evident
you'll never be one of our kind
this aint yours, fuck you dont try

this bridge was burnt before you could cross
you reap the benefits of whats lost
go home son, hang your costume up
a goddamn insult to the rest of us
a thousand-yard stare across the south
a full belly and a lying mouth
momma's boy plays heretic
the real thing would kill you quick

Rise, again we will rise

there's nothing for you to fight against
you're so unreal its evident
you'll never be one of our kind
this aint yours, fuck you dont try

fuck you, dont even try
fuck you, your time is nigh
fuck you, i've had enough
fuck you, your time is up

I think it's basically about someone who spreads their opinion despite their blatant ignorance towards the subject. I'd pull some lyrics to point to Bush, but the dudes in the band have assured us that there is not a single political song on the entire new record.
To me, it points towards contrived anti-society, and how someone who pretends to be a rebel and tries to break the mould eventually becomes as bad as the culture they were originally trying to distance themselves from.
LoG owns.

Love the start to this song its awsome to headbang too.
I still think this song is still somewhat about Bush i mean lines like " this bridge was burnt before you could cross you reap the benefits of whats lost
go home son, hang your costume up a goddamn insult to the rest of us a thousand-yard stare across the south a full belly and a lying mouth momma's boy plays heretic. " kinda point a finger at the worlds biggest fuck up.

this songs about all these "metal" bands that are out now a days that act bad ass and are all into the metal scene but are totally not metal. i mean, just because your music is metal doesn't make YOU metal, metal is an additude, a way of life if you will. this song is saying FUCK you to all these wannabe motherfuckers who are just in a metal band for the image, bad ass song, i love it. thats my 2 cents

I can agree with burn on this one

"go home son, hang your costume up
a goddamn insult to the rest of us"

This verse seems to be talking about bands like slipknot that are pitiful excuses for rock bands that wear the masks
ill admit the masks look cool, but if you get a new mask every album, and the quality of your music goes down as well, you really need to ditch the masks and concentrate more on making your music

but we all could be wrong, and there could be a lot more to this song then we realize, but so far everything makes sense

I think this song is about people cashing in on the white-trash cliche, that's the impression I get right off the bat from the first verse.

I'd agree with ZionsVillageIdiot , but Lamb Of God are actually down with Slipknot and have toured with them, probably with the phrase "To each his fucking own" on their minds.

So?
Iron maiden are touring with Bullet for my valentine, what would you say bout that one?

anyways, I agree with what both burnthepriest17 and xNo.Transitory said..

"Store-bought attitude and spit"- all those wannabes go and buy clothes that will make them look cool.. and then make a band that attempts to be "oh so metal" but it's mostly for the money (Dollar signs)..
I think it's making Randy mad cus as opposed to others, some people take metal seriously and make it the centre of their lives.. lamb of god worked their asses off for years to get to where they are, and some fucking poser bands think they can, in a second, get to the top and make money. wtf?
so he's saying, people like that will never be a part of us.. you can say you're metal but it doesn't mean you are, or ever will be (you can repeat a lie a thousand times but it never becomes anymore true..).

Don't you feel like the first verse kinda refers to Phil Anselmo?

"go home son, hang your costume up
a goddamn insult to the rest of us"

this song is bashing the south and all the people who still think the south won and think theyre the new confedracy and the part about the costume is referring to the Ku Klux Klan

yea i wanna change my interpretation a lil bit it is referin to the southerners who think the confederacy won the civil war and thinks the south will rise again and the costume thing is about the re enactment people who fight the fake battles and how rediculous the whole idea is about them being dumb rednecks

The Klan? What the hell? You're REALLY reaching far with that one.

It's not about Emo, either. What does Emo have to do with Lamb of God's scene? There's nothing fake about Emo as a genre and the people who truly follow it, anyway.

The song is about wannabes and posers, pure and simple. You know, FAKES!

This song is definately about the South.

LoG are from Richmond, VA. VA was the capital of the Confederacy and all the band members are self-proclaiming "Red-necks". If your from the area(like i am) you see alot of lifted pickup trucks w/ rebel(confederate) flags all over them and a 1 tooth hick behind the wheel. The majority of people associate the confederate flag w/ slavery and racism but go check your history book; the civil war was about states rights and thats something many true southerners are proud of. To sum up the song there are alot of people who misconstrue what it means to be a proud southerner. Truck owners think it's trendy and alot of other people think your a bunch of racist/KKK biggots.

Lyrics that support the south:
"an instant rebel"
"lies are told in a southern drawl"
"Rise, again we will rise"
"blood and fire used to fill the night"
"you'll never be one of our kind"
"go home son, hang your costume up
a goddamn insult to the rest of us
a thousand-yard stare across the south"

Even the song title is evident:
"Again We(the south) Rise"

To me. I think this song means for the lack of a better word, posers. Who think their Goth or Satanic and just arent really they pretend to be.

"store-bought additude and spit" -Like just buying the clothes and immediatly thinking their a badass.

"the real thing would kill you quick" -They are being fake and not realizing what its really like.

"there's nothing for you to fight against
you're so unreal its evident
you'll never be one of our kind
this aint yours, fuck you dont try" -Basically telling them they are fake and they dont belong and to stop the act.

"go home son, hang your costume up" -Telling him to take down the act hes not fooling anyone.

"momma's boy plays heretic
The real thing would kill you quick" -Saying some little bitch is trying to look like a badass by trying to make people think hes not a follower of god.

To Forever_Haunted: Iron Maiden not only likes and supports Bullet for My Valentine, they handpicked them to play shows with them. And if Lamb of God got so close as to tour with Slipknot, they'd know like those of us that have never met them that they are a bunch of metalheads.

i agree with the anti-emo theory, but then again, i think its just about fakes who [obviously] pretend to be somebody theyre not and when they go home is when they are who they are. then again, its a song and everybody understands it differenly. all i know for sure is that chris adler is withoout doubt the best drummer for such a modest man. hes the best.

yea i agree its about fake shit

though i could be wrong but my first thought on "poor-house poverty's your schtick .the real thing would kill you quick"
...to me it was about rappers =)

you know how they act like they're from the streets and they hustle and shit (their gimmick, and gangsta act just to get some attention)..but "the real thing would kill them quick"

anyway ...it all depends on the perception so i could be wrong since i got that impression from that particular line (and "again we rise"; as in the metal scene)

bah whatever...cheers >>>LoG !!!!!

The song is directed at Phil Anselmo rejoining the music scene after Dimebag's death. Most of the lyrics are general insults to Phil "sugar coated piece of shit" and Phil in the metal scene "hang up your costume"
But some lyrics are more directly aimed at Phil:
"lies are told in a southern drawl"
In RE to Phil denying any hostility towards dime or responsibility for his death in interviews

The verse
"you missed a sinking boat by years
dollar signs, crocodile tears
its over now and long has been
those days are gone wont come again
another name crossed off the list
the real thing would kill you quick"
Very obvious ref to Pantera and how any of Phil's metal left with the band, and now he's just making music again for the money.

This verse has the biggest tipoff:
"a goddamn insult to the rest of us"
His selfish attitude is an insult to metal singers/bands
"a thousand-yard stare across the south"
Randy is staring at Phil 1000 yards across the south from Richmond to Texas/Louisiana
