Lyrics for Bushwick Junkie as interpreted by HeathroBonk

Bushwick Junkie Lyrics
I was only making the move
Trying very hard to get back to you
I was only chilling in style
Make a move to kill in an awful while

I was only trying to get by
I was only trying to get high

I was only acting the part
If the rest don't take a part of it
I was only breaking my back a while
To making money to be a cat a while

I was only trying to get high
I was only trying to get high
Before the sunrise, rise, rise, rise, rise, rise, rise, rise

I was only trying to get high
I was only trying to get high
I was only trying to get high
It said
I was only trying to get high
Before the sunrise at the dawn

Bushwick is a poor neighborhood in Brooklyn.
Perhaps the words of a junkie from the area.
It is interesting to note: the song progresses like a drug addiction. Starting out at just "chilling in style" and just "acting the part" and only temporary but then degressing to repeated distorted "I was only trying to get high"

This is one of those songs where I think that if I had written it and shared it with friends, I would seem either deaf or just an embarrassing excuse for a musician. Because Sufjan wrote it though, I can hear through the apparent ugliness of the whole thing and realize that only a talented musician could have written such an unpleasant piece of music. In the most encouraging way towards Sufjan ever, I couldn't have written a song this bad, for I'm not that good of a musician. Woof.
