Lyrics for Blacken The Cursed Sun as interpreted by loc4485

Blacken The Cursed Sun Lyrics
Seize a darkened day,
There's only hell to pay,
And no one left to see this prodigal return.
Sweet apathy's my toll.
You mourn the draining soul.
I'll dig a deeper hole.
Sanctity, a breath away.
Just a breath away.
Blacken the cursed sun.
You're not the only one,
To have sunk so far and low.
There is no tomorrow.
A tragedy on display,
A sickness for all to see.
I will kill this part of myself that I hate and that I see in you.
It was always mine, anyway.
There's something you can't take away.
I choose not to feel a thing.
Sanctity, a breath away.
Just a breath away.
Away.
Just a breath away.
Blacken the cursed sun.
You're not the only one,
To have sunk so far and low.
There is no tomorrow.
Blacken the cursed sun.
Blacken what's yet to be done.
Blacken, because now you know, there is no tomorrow.

Is there still hope for us?
Can we still be saved?
Does your God hold a place for us?
There is no tomorrow.
Is there still hope for us?
Can we still be saved?
Does your God hold a place for us?
Is there time to repent?
Will we rise from the dead?
Can these sins even be forgiven?
Is there still hope for us?
Were we ever even alive?
Is any of this even real?
You're just a breath away.
You're just a breath away.
Better to die quick fighting on your feet
Then to live forever begging on your knees
No.
Can we still be saved?
Hell no!
Does your God hold a place for us?
Hell no!
Is there time to repent?
Hell no!
Will we rise from the dead?
Hell no!
Can these sins even be forgiven?
Hell no!
Is there still hope for us?
Hell no!
Were we ever even alive?
Hell no!
Is any of this even real?
Hell no!
Hell no!

Its about sitting on the edge of a cliff, noting the world's about to run off it in it's own idiocy, incompetence, selfishness, and arrogance. Suicidal Depression combined with hatred for the world being lived in at it's best.

In other words, nihilistic rampage.

Actually the lyrics for that part are:

"Better to die quick, fighting on your feet,
Then to live forever, begging on your knees.
Begging on your, begging on your,
Begging on your knees"

I agree religion is childish.

No."

Good thing he says "no," huh?

Lamb of God = 5 Christian guys trying their hardest to seem anti-Christian, while not really being anti-Christian. Piss poor, but still more commendable than the rest of heavy metal.

Chris Ryff, see a doctor. Or just pull the trigger and be gone.

Randy Blythe is some kind of pre-school theologian. Seriously, there is some pretty funny stuff in here. Childish lyrics always ruin a good song….but this is heavy metal we’re talking about, childish lyrics define the genre.

This is so awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! Somebody thought Chris Ryff needs help? lol. No he doesn't. Let him die!!!!! lol. He knows that life is actually a let down. He doesn't need help. He needs to keep all that pain and torment inside until it brings him to actual suicide. And believe me it will.......These songs just reinforce what is already lurking underneath the visible.

i think to simplify it, its about people who commit suicide going to hell indefinitly. Like at the end, for example, they shout "can we still be saves?" Nope. "Does your God hold a place for us?" no, you killed yourself.

i think the cursed sun is suicide. The sun representing the light and hope of releif from a horrible life. Cursed cuz if you you kill yourself, your introuble with God. I think when he says "blacken" he means, forget about the curse that is involved with the sun, cuz its bullshit. Do what you want, because its better to die quick fighting on your feet....

just an idea

IMO I can understand why some people would think this song is about suicide, just by reading the lyrics.

But, in concert @ OzzFest, Randy shouted this song out to all those who don't want to go to work.

Thus IMO, the song is about how a laborous worker works all day in the hot sun, wants the sun to go away, hence night time. Then once the sun is "blackened", doesn't want it to come up again, meaning having to work again.

Then all the religious parts of the song reinforce how the workers life has been wasted... and such forth. It's half way bashing religion, half way idk yet.

My take on it is that it's about choosing suicide as a way out of witnessing the end of the world and eternal damnation.

this song is so fucking hardcore, it has a different atmosphere than the rest of the songs on the album. Its hard to decribe. people been saying the guitars arent even that good, well its not about them. its the song as a whole.

also blacken the cursed sun i guess means that he wants to be in darkness so i guess it makes sense about it being about depression.

definetly suicide, in my eyes i see this song as a cry to try to find if "god does save a place for them" for its said that suicide is the only sin without forgiveness.... or at least thats how i feel but when they come to the conclusion that there is "no hope...." A lie seems to be the only thing they find shelter in. Beliving that none of it is real and there for worth nothin in the end.... but i dont know i may just be off on glue or something... all i know is that this song's double bass owns ur ass!!!

I think that at first is has a depression theme to it, and then it shifts into a religious type deal

"Better to die quick, fighting on your feet, then to live forever, begging on your knees."

It's saying that its better to be your own person, and not be controlled by anyone and die and have that be it (no heaven or hell), then to live forever i heaven or whatever, being a servant to a God. Really cool line.

Is it just me, or is the part at the end of the song the heaviest part ever? SO awesome

This song is truely about suicide, and how according to christianity, suicide is a one way trip to hell.

Also, "Sanctity is just a breath away" reminds me of suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning.

If you corrected them then why do they still say
"Better to die quick,
Fighting on your fate.
Then you'll live forever,
Banging on your name."

Those lines don't even make sense >.>
