She was stormin' through the house that day
And I could tell she was leavin'
And I thought, 'aw, she'll be back.'
Until we turned around and pointed at the wall and said

That picture from out honeymoon
That night in 'Frisco Bay
Just give it away
She said give it away

That big four poster king sized bed
Where so much love was made
Just give it away
She said just give it away

[Chorus]
Just give it away
There ain't nothing in this house worth fightin' over
Oh, we're both tired of fightin' anyway
Just give it away

Oh, I tried to move on
But I found that each woman I held
Just reminded me of that day

When that front door swung wide open
She flung her diamond ring
Said, give it away
Just give it away

And I said, now honey
Don't you even want your half of everything
She said give it away
Just give it away

[Chorus]

So, I'm still right here where she left me
Along with all the other things that she don't care about anymore
Hmm

Like that picture from our honeymoon
That night in 'Frisco Bay
She said give it away
Well, I can't give it away
That big four poster king sized bed
Where all our love was made
She said give it away
Well, I can't give it away

I've got furnished house
A diamond ring
And a lonely, broken heart
Full of love
And I can't even give it away

General Comment:this song was written by Jamey Johnson, and is meant to be sung totally different than the way George Strait sang it. It sounds all happy and carefree when George sings it. But when Jamey Johnson sings it, he sings it the right way, search for it on youtube. Jamey said in an interview that he wrote this song when his wife left him because Jamey was an alcoholic and head deep in a cocaine addiction. Story goes before she left, Jamey asks her "well what the hell do you want me to do with all this shit I bought you?" she replies, "just give it away, i dont want any of it anymore". Now that brings new meaning to the song and he sings it the right way. Jamey is a storyteller and the way country music should be. Not a pretty face like George Strait who buys somebody elses story because he can and makes millions off of it. Fuck George Strait, he aint country. Yeah I said it.

General Comment:Maybe captain means George isn't getting any younger, that's why he can't give it away; he's too old. Either that, or he just couldn't think of anything else to say. I love how some people post the obvious meanings to a song. Does this one really need an explanation? No offense, Sambee.

General Comment:He's obviously still in love with this woman and no matter what, he can't move on (or give it away).

General Comment:Gotta love this song. he sounds fantastic and the guitar solo in the beginning is amazing. Bascially it's about a guy whose wife is so fed up with fighting she tells him to give everything from their marriage away, she doesn't even wanna argue over it. I gotta say if she's crazy enough to throw out a diamond, you are definitely crazy for giving away George... ;)
