Do I attract you?
Do I repulse you with my queasy smile?
Am I too dirty?
Am I too flirty?
Do I like what you like?

I could be wholesome
I could be loathsome
I guess I'm a little bit shy
Why don't you like me?
Why don't you like me without making me try?

I try to be like Grace Kelly
But all her looks were too sad
So I try a little Freddie
I've gone identity mad!

[Chorus]
I could be brown
I could be blue
I could be violet sky
I could be hurtful
I could be purple
I could be anything you like
Gotta be green
Gotta be mean
Gotta be everything more
Why don't you like me?
Why don't you like me?
Why don't you walk out the door!

How can I help it?
How can I help it?
How can I help what you think?
Hello, my baby
Hello, my baby
Putting my life on the brink
Why don't you like me?
Why don't you like me?
Why don't you like yourself?
Should I bend over?
Should I look older just to be put on your shelf?
I try to be like Grace Kelly
But all her looks were too sad
So I try a little Freddie
I've gone identity mad!

[Chorus]

Say what you want to satisfy yourself
But you only want what everybody else says you should want

[Chorus: x2]

General Comment:The song's about Mika's musical career - he kept getting rejected by the record labels. Grace Kelly was an actress and, I suppose, known for her 'sad' facial expressions. Freddie is a reference to Freddie Mercury - Mika's style is often compared to Queen's.

General Comment:I just heard this song on The Sing Off, sang by The Wiffenpoofs. It intrigued me. I had never heard it before, and the way the guy sang it, it made me thing about Adam Lambert. Of course, it's not, but he definitely sang it in that style to make me think of him. I like this song, the lyrics are interesting and catchy.

General Comment:I think it's quite obvious that he's tried "a little Freddie" ;)

My fave song by Mika... just the right touch of Queen influence without losing his own style.

Song Meaning:Mika said (not exactly with his words) that this song is about being what you really are, sticking to your personality and believes and not letting anyone change you into something you are not. That's why Mika rocks!

My Opinion:Now that I think about it, Mika does sound a lot like Freddie Mercury. I love this song, though; it's a very strong and optimistic song for the ones that feel out-of-place sometimes.
