Lyrics for Breathe as interpreted by ardy189

Breathe Lyrics
I climb I slip I fall
Reaching for your hands
But I lay here all alone
Sweating al your blood

If I could find out how
To make you listen now
Because I'm starving for you here
With my undying love

And I, I will

Breathe for love tommorow
cause theres no hope for today
Breathe for love tommorow
cause maybe there's another way

I climb I slip I fall
Reaching for your hands
But I lay here all alone
Sweating al your blood

If I could find out how
To make you listen now
Because Im starving for you here
With my undying love love

And I, I will

Breathe for love tommorow
cause theres no hope for today
Breathe for love tommorow
cause maybe there's another way

I climb I slip I fall
Into your empty hands
But I lay here all alone
Sweating all your blood

Favourite song, Favourite Band,

This is about being in love with someone but them not loving you back, but also about having hope that in the future, it will get better"Breathe for love tommorow" and at the same time realising that this the person you're in love with will never love you "cause theres no hope for today".

I don't usualy cry when I listen to songs, but this one's intro gets me so down. The lyrics are simple but powerful, and it's just completely raw and from the heart. I love that.

this song is amazing.<33.
i think it could be interpreted in many ways.
obviously, it could be interpreted as leaning towards God and asking him for true love, or at least support or a blessing.
but then, i mostly think it's about a girl who misses her love.
somehow, things ended for all the wrong reasons, yet she still loves him; he's trying to move on without her but she doesn't want him to.
"If I could find out how
To make you listen now
Because I'm starving for you here
With my undying love." that explains that part.
and then there's this part that suggests she's made mistakes and she still wants to prove to him that he's the one for her:
"I climb I slip I fall
Reaching for your hands
But I lay here all alone
Sweating al your blood."

regardless, it's a really moving song.

The line that confuses me the most is this one, "But I lay here all alone Sweating all your blood." Anyone that can give me a little insight into that would be awesome.

my favorite lines are "I'm starving for you here With my undying love"

Religion? Relationships?
I heard this song was about one of Hayley's close friends moving away...

I interpret this song as written from Jesus' perspective.

The "Sweating all your blood" line is killer and in MY opinion is a reference to Jesus the night before he was crucified... “And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.”
—Luke 22:44

His blood was shed for humankind which is why I think they wrote "sweating all YOUR blood". Genuis.

The rest is pretty self-explanatory if you listen from that perspective. Basically desperately "reaching" out trying one last time to get people to "listen" so he can fill their "empty hands" and assure them of hope and love in the future.

I think in the chorus "he" is saying "just wait or keep going until tomorrow (future) cause I know that right now you have no hope (slaves to sin and death), but tomorrow (when I'm crucified and pay your debt) I'll make a new way for you.

Hayley and Josh have an amazingly discreet way of writing about God (secret lover)
I'm not saying you can't interpret this in other ways, but this is how I hear it. I think we can all agree that this is great writing and a great song.

About sweating blood...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hematidrosis
Hematidrosis (also called hematohidrosis) is a very rare condition in which a human being sweats blood. It may occur when a person is suffering extreme levels of stress, for example, facing his or her own death.[1] Several historical references have been described; notably by Leonardo da Vinci: describing a soldier who sweated blood before battle, men unexpectedly given a death sentence, as well as descriptions in the Bible, that Jesus experienced hematidrosis when he was praying in the garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22,44).

Haha. Not everything is about a relationship.
Paramore has written songs about God, so why can't this one be about God?
Cause every song you hear, you always think it's about a guy or a girl and the messed up relationship- get over yourself. Songs are meant to be interpretated differently. It holds different meaning for everyone- SO DONT THINK YOUR EXACTLY RIGHT.

I really love the feeling in her beautiful voice.

It kinda seems dramatic like the person shes talking to is dying or something.
I think its about someone she is losing. Still I don''t get it all.
I know that its not relating to religion but can be for those really religious ppl.

I wish I had this song in high quality. any1 have it? =]

just from the sound of pure desperation in her voice you can pretty much understand what the song is about even without analyzing the lyrics.

this song reminds me of having a baby and that moment when its just born and it isnt breathing and you just yell BREATHE!! baby just breath,

even though you know there is no hope. its sung after the baby didnt breath and the mum is remembering when she and the doctors where praying BREATHE!

im starving for you here = longs to have her baby back.

lay here alone sweating all your blood,, giving birth is very bloody and sweaty..

and that is why this song makes me cry. hayley's voice is simular to mine.

This definately the work of Joshua Niel Farro's amazing writing and Hayley Nichole William's stunning vocals. I love the band, the lyrics, the order the lyrics are organized, and the song overall.

I agree that this song is about a pointless love. And the narrator realizes that, and she's telling everyone else that even if it looks crappy right now, breathe for love tomorrow. Eventually the tide will turn.

The line "Sweating all your blood" always throws me. It makes me think that she's in love with someone who took her virginity, or made her get an abortion, or maybe the song is about an abusive parent. I wish that line was better explained or not in the song at all. It doesn't seem to fit.

Bullcrap or not you have to be on some serious drugs to think this song is about god and jesus.... Personally I think it is about Allah and Muhammad...

First of all, whoever called God and Jesus "bullcrap" has to be the most insensitive person I've ever heard. Second of all, people can make this song out to be whatever they want it to be. There isn't always one ultimate answer for everything. I believe it could be about a number of things, ranging from family, to friends, to lovers, or to, yes, that "bullcrap", God and Jesus.

it may be about not being loved by a family member. You will never stop loving them because its family but you feel they dont love you back. Maybe the singer cuts their self to feel something? Just a theory.

It's a very touching one for me...

I can relate to this, especially with the line:

If I could find out how
To make you listen now
Because I'm starving for you here
With my undying love

And I, I will

It's as if she is really loving a person who doesn't love her back but she hopes she will have a chance on his heart...

Such a tremendously beautiful song... probably the best I've heard Hayley's voice.

I love it when her voice catches... reminds me kinda of Irvine by KC... (yet so many things remind me of that song it's ridiculous)

I agree with beocmethecatalyst in the idea that a song doesn't have to be Christian to evoke crying... but I don't know what this song's truly about in Hayley's (or Josh's, as someone said) heart, and I won't pretend to.

So peace.

Jesus christ people...THIS SONG HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RELIGIOUS STUFF!!!

This is simply a depressed girl that got her heart completely trampled on because of some asshole...She reaches out for this guy, and all she ends up grabbing is nothing but air.

It has NOTHING to do with Jesus...or god...or any of that bullcrap...Honestly guys, just because there is something deep and pretty and can make you cry JUST BY LISTENING TO IT, doesn't mean someone was religiously touched.

I'm going to marry Hayley!!!...My girlfriend gave me permission if she could join!! =D

i think this song is about Jesus, from his perspective.
i think its when he is being crucified. "sweating all your blood" he sweat blood before he was crucified and the fact that it isnt his own i think that represents that he had taken our sins.

he tries to make us listen but we dont pay attention. they killed him when he tried to reach them.

he is the only one with undying love, others love can be changed and taken away.

and thn "theres no hope for today... maybe theres another way"
people are sinful but can find hope in christ.

thats what i get out of it

i can totally relate to this song. it kinda 'hit' me when i was in the airport, leaving my hometown, just to get away from everything. my boyfriend, my first love, broke up with me.

this song is about heartbreak and desperation, i should think.

"I climb I slip I fall
Reaching for your hands
But I lay here all alone
Sweating al your blood"

She tries so hard to hold onto him, cling onto everything they`ve had, but well, he doesn`t. She`s alone.

"If I could find out how
To make you listen now
Because I'm starving for you here
With my undying love"

She tries to figure what she can do to make things right, make him listen to all she wants him to know how badly she wants him - her undying love (how ironic. he said the same thing.) and how she craves for him.

I agree with SammaeL, sorry LovelyTay64, but I'm pretty sure you're off. I don't think God has anything to do with this song. When I first heard the song, I thought Hayley was singing about being let down by someone she cares a lot about, and probably loves. She says that she lays in his "empty hands, all alone." I interpreted that as the one she loves he has no love left for her. But, who knows, I might be way way off.
