Welcome To The Black Parade Lyrics
When I was a young boy
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band

He said "Son, when you grow up
Would you be the savior of the broken
The beaten and the damned?"

He said "Will you defeat them
Your demons and all the non-believers
The plans that they have made?

"Because one day I'll leave you
A phantom to lead you in the summer
To join the black parade."

When I was a young boy
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band

He said "Son, when you grow up
Would you be the savior of the broken
The beaten and the damned?"

Sometimes I get the feeling she's watching over me
And other times I feel like I should go
And through it all, the rise and fall, the bodies in the streets
And when you're gone we want you all to know

We'll carry on
We'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone believe me
Your memory will carry on
Will carry on
And in my heart I can't contain it
The anthem won't explain it

A woman sends you reeling from decimated dreams
Your misery and hate will kill us all
So paint it black and take it back
Let's shout it loud and clear
Do you fight it to the end
We hear the call
To carry on

We'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone believe me
Your memory will carry on
Will carry on
And though you're broken and defeated
Youe weary widow marches on

On and on we carry through the fears
Disappointed faces of your peers
Take a look at me 'cause I can not care at all

Do or die
You'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Though they try, they'll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part
I won't explain or say I'm sorry
I'm not ashamed, I'm gonna show my scar
Give a cheer for all the broken
Listen here, because it's only

I'm just a man, I'm not a hero
Just a boy who's meant to sing this song
Just a man, I'm not a hero
I don't care

We'll carry on
We'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone believe me
Your memory will carry on
You'll carry on
And though you're broken and defeated
Youe weary widow marches on

Do or die
You'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Though they try, they'll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part

Do or die
You'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Though they try, they'll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part

wow! swearing really made me realize your opinion is the right one, and that i'm wrong.
saying "fucking" "assholes" and "dammit" make you look soooo tough, and not to mention writing in caps, now that's real toughness right their seizure.

OK, I heard this song for the first time a couple of days ago and think I understand what it's about.

If you listen to it from the perspective of some jihadi suicide bomber in the middle east, it all makes sense. My assumption is that they've very cleverly used the anthemic sound of american rock that you tend to mix emotionally with crappy old patriotic war films, with the passion of the suicide bomber - in an attempt to show how they must feel across cultures. You can't really connect with their culture, it all sounds like screaming and doesn't seem to make sense - however, with them going on about being taken to the parade as kids and being told how to stand up against the non believers and their plans and how their memories will carry on, with all the reference to violence and bodies in the street, well it all makes sense.

Maybe I've got it all wrong, but whatevers.

that kinda makes sense, but unfortunately MCR already explained the concept of this album.

Is it just me or does this song remind you guys of queen. Seems Gerard is going for a lighter side lately with his hair and all.

I just wanna make sure some points, with easygoing language and explanations because everyone seems so passionate about this, in a bad way.
Labels, labels, you CAN live without them, trust me, so this band I'd like to say its punk-rock ish but I also liked the post hardcore punk, because they try to sound thougher, achieved or not, and well that would be it for me. To some this might sound pop, specially if you listen to thougher bands, now if you spend all your time listening to paris hilton and whatnot, you'll find this 'hardcore' 'metal' song, wich I admit, to true metal fans is ball-busting. So keep that in mind and if you run into someone saying this is fucking metal, explain with apples, same thing if someone says its emo, screamo, blah blah.

Onto the MCR debate, this IS MCR, and I'm not saying in the obvious way of who's singing? Because that's stupid. I mean, this IS MCR, accept it or not, they have evolved and so should you. What you might agree or not its the quality of this material, single etc. I mean you coul've liked Brougth you my bullets' material so much better but that doesn't mean you have to shout it all over and flame others with different taste. It took me two plays (one on VMA, one when I dw it) to get used to it. I ended up loving it after hearing it for the second time. Its complex, it has catchy riffs, GREAT vocals in a new way and the lyrics are fucking awesome.... But hey , that's just my opinion, you can differ but you can't change my mind.

It HAS a bit more commercial sense into it, every band should do as they please and like Three cheers, they popped out 1 extremely catchy song just to get everyone's aquaintance, I'm not ok was unbelievable good for a catchy punk rock song, but it was WAY to different to the rest of the album, I loved it and it was a hook to listen to the rest and getting to love them. So don't judge a book for its cover and don't judge this CD too soon because of the ONE catchy , yet extremely good, single.

I reiterate my love for this song since its truly good within its genere, DON'T try to compare it with old school punk, old school ... nothing because this is intended to be NEW music, not tribute or smth, and truth is they might've gotten influences from Queen and whatnot but that's called experimentation.

Base your opinion on listening the song, not what it looks to you by the bleached hair or by the hate towards emo, or the love to Gerard Way (it works both ways to be fair)

So peace out and btw I think the she's still watching part might be about a nation wanting him to fight for 'her' and well I guess he won't fall for his father brainwash, if you sense it, there's a very american idiot feeling to this,

take a look at me cuz i could not care at all
do or die
you'll never make me
cos the world, will never take my heart

So I'd like to think he's saying "hey, I'm not an idiot who falls for stupid god-bless-america crap" It might express the exact opposite thing but to me it would be greater if they expressed dislike for today's american behavior rather than cheering it (war against you know who)

So, peace out and thanks if you took the time to read this.

Mcr is not punk ,mcr is not hardcore punk , mcr can't be labelled idk why , but if you say they are punk emo , etc then real emos and punks are gonna pwn the band if you know what i mean.... Just say that they are Pop because they are popular im tellin you this because is way more easy than saying they are emo.

OMG IT SUX the song i mean

Holy disapointment, how come every new album that MCR releases is always softer than the last. Pretty soon you wont be able to tell the difference between them and good charlotte

Jeez they didn't even scream at all in the song
I love MCR as much as the rest of u but i think that pretty soon thatz gunna become past tense. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SCREAMING ITZ TURNING INTO RUSSIAN OPERA!

There's actually lots of screaming, but its muffled and in third plane, there's the main voice wich leads the tune, then a second one wich reaches little higher notes and then a third muffled screamo like, as I said, they need to hit it with the soft side to avoid scarying "omg-MCR-rulzzz" kids but yet giving us radio-listening good material.
Thanks thepatient , If I reached one person.... :D

The intro might be another song but what immediatly comes to mind is BoxcarRacer's I feel so... almost identical

yo dag listen up, the new mcr is gonna be packed with catchy tunes, they're all gonna sound like stuff you and your buddies might sing coming out of a bar drunk as fuck, but that's not how they started out.
I AM BY NO MEANS SAYING THEY SHOULD STAY THE SAME!
they should just evolve in more logical pattern, i mean their new stuf is so far from their classics it seems like it's some kind of joke, nevertheless, like i said the new album sounds very fun, and i'm looking forward to singin "Mama" on New Year's Eve.

B12, toughness wasn't the point. It's just that you didn't seem to notice what I said on a previous page. might want to at least read that part. i'm glad you saw my post this time, and you really might want to consider going in another board, preferably one of a band that you actually DO like. get the point?
