Lyrics for Welcome To The Black Parade as interpreted by AbsolutionAgent_gMs

Welcome To The Black Parade Lyrics
When I was a young boy
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band

He said "Son, when you grow up
Would you be the savior of the broken
The beaten and the damned?"

He said "Will you defeat them
Your demons and all the non-believers
The plans that they have made?

"Because one day I'll leave you
A phantom to lead you in the summer
To join the black parade."

When I was a young boy
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band

He said "Son, when you grow up
Would you be the savior of the broken
The beaten and the damned?"

Sometimes I get the feeling she's watching over me
And other times I feel like I should go
And through it all, the rise and fall, the bodies in the streets
And when you're gone we want you all to know

We'll carry on
We'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone believe me
Your memory will carry on
Will carry on
And in my heart I can't contain it
The anthem won't explain it

A woman sends you reeling from decimated dreams
Your misery and hate will kill us all
So paint it black and take it back
Let's shout it loud and clear
Do you fight it to the end
We hear the call
To carry on

We'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone believe me
Your memory will carry on
Will carry on
And though you're broken and defeated
Youe weary widow marches on

On and on we carry through the fears
Disappointed faces of your peers
Take a look at me 'cause I can not care at all

Do or die
You'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Though they try, they'll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part
I won't explain or say I'm sorry
I'm not ashamed, I'm gonna show my scar
Give a cheer for all the broken
Listen here, because it's only

I'm just a man, I'm not a hero
Just a boy who's meant to sing this song
Just a man, I'm not a hero
I don't care

We'll carry on
We'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone believe me
Your memory will carry on
You'll carry on
And though you're broken and defeated
Youe weary widow marches on

Do or die
You'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Though they try, they'll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part

Do or die
You'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Though they try, they'll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part

Argh bloody hell, didn't even press enter =S

Anyway, from what I've heard, there's a story to the album. The Patient has died, more than likely from cancer:
- There's a song on the album called Cancer
- Gerard Way, on the interview video on www.theblackparade.com, said his new look is modelled after how he imagined The Patient, white hair being similar to someone undergoing chemotherapy.

He looks back on his life, contemplating the mistakes and such like in his life.

Gerard said that he believes Death comes in the form of however you want it. As seeing the marching band was a strong memory from The Patient's childhood, The Black Parade is how he sees Death coming to get him.

Okay. Think about it. How much sense does "You're a chair for all the broken" make?? I always heard it as "Give a cheer for all the broken", and to me that makes about a billion times more sense.

Shades of Green Day, no? It's an anthem like Jesus of Suburbia is, a fast-paced rhapsody which draws you in and sets the stage for an epic album. Might a new punk rock masterpiece be on the horizon?

Dear AbsolutionAgent,

You can take your Black Flag and shove it.

Punk Rock is suburban now, but it's still one voice against the crowd.

Oh, GOD FORBID Green Day released a rock opera, all these 2nd-rate bands have to follow in their footsteps...at least the song doesn't suck THAT bad...

I hate rock operas because the music seems like an afterthought to the story...American Idiot is a good example. Sure, there were some gems thrown in there, but there was way too much filler, and it's hard to sit through the whole thing in one cycle.

Thing that annoys me is the only thing 'emo' about My Chemical Romance is the 'Helena' video and look that followed. If you wanna say they have an emo song in 'I'm Not Okay (I Promise)' then fair enough but their not an emo band. Their first album wasn't emo, their second album had 1 song on it, so much so that these boards are covered in posts like;

This song sucks, its not like them at all; or
This band sold out

Etc etc etc.

The truth is they make concept albums and they are very serious and passionate about what they are doing. Gerards new hair is case in point, the back lash from 'emo' people because of this. So fuck. He is, ike the rest of the band changing their image to go with the concept of the album, much as he did the album before. They are evolving.

All these peeps that criticize etc should watch 'Life On The Murder Scene' and they would almost def change their opinions.

THIS BAND IS NOT EMO.

They are post hardcore punk.

What everyone should remember is that if Greenday where coming out now they'd be classed as Pop or emo. And thats aload of balls. Billie Joe wears the stereotypical emo outfit. But they ain't emo and quite right.

Fuckin half wits just need to class everything and everyone.

Fuck that.

Oh and I reiterate the point about 'Life On The Murder Scene' to people saying this isnt MCR, wheres the blood etc.

You actually see Gerard getting pissed at the amount of photoshoots using shit like that and he admits its his fault because he loves horrors comics etc and said at the first couple of photoshoots, blood... I want blood!!! But everyone ran with it.

God help me if they are post hardcore punk.

This band is pop or pop-punk whatever you want to call it , they are not punk or emo.

Queen wannabes .

Then god help you I guess.

The wanted to become a mix of The Misfits, Maiden & The Smiths. Their first album can't be caterogized so, its put in the post hardcore punk.

The whole point of songs like 'Headfirst for Halo's' is so they wouldn't be pigeon holed.

Ugh , they'll never be the misfits .

Well if they are post hardcore punk because their album can't be categorized then it's ok i guess . But they hace said themselves that their a pop. They do pop face it.

Well in my opinnion, there is only two words to describe this song and those words are 'fucking amazing'
it left me speechless
The guitar solos do have a bohemian rhapsody edge to them, i think thats what completes the song. It gives a great sense of a rock balad into the song.
Pop-punk, hardcore punk, who cares?
This band cannot be so easily categorized into one genre.
It was easy in the past to label bands like sex pistols, the misfits, iron maiden and the ramones into genres because the genres were just beginning back then. Nowdays, we have all different kinds of music, alternative, rock, metal, black metal, punk, punk alternative, pop, poprock, you name it.
I don't know what genre to classify mcr, but whatever it is, they better keep at it because it is freaking awesome.
As for the meaning of the song, i think it is introducing the album, the storyline and its characters, the prime one being, 'the patient' in which is suposedly diagnosed with cancer. I think the black parade is a play of words that is a metaphore for death, but again, this is just my opinnion

My Chem is my favorite band,

This song is awesome.

But they'll never be as good as they were in "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love." I agree with Forget The Hero or whatever your name was, sorry. Where's the lyrics about fragments of your skull falling on my tongue like pixie dust?

All this is a story about crap.

But I love Gerard, as a high school drag queen, as a screamo indie lead singer, as a generic scene icon, and now as a crazy nutter who bleached his brain when he bleached his hair, thinking it would make him look like he'd had chemotherapy.

But, I digress. Nothing My Chem could write could be too awful shitty. Just Queen-imitating, "innovative" (pshaw this is such scene junk they came up with this time around) crap.

However, it's still Gerard singing. His voice is like a choir of angels.

Well, maybe not angels. More like a single, screaming demon.

But a hot demon with a sexy voice.

"He said "Son when, you grow up, will you be,"
It's "would you be", not will.

And also. I've heard this song from MCR's MySpace.
The lyrics fit. So whoever is going on how the lyrics are to a different song, are frankly very wrong.

xxxxx.

I also have to disagree with Forget the Hero and Starless Eyes.
This IS MCR. Maybe they wanted to do a one off song that was different to all the others. And to the truth, it worked.
If we love MCR, we accept the songs they write and don't complain how it's 'not MCR'.

They want to try something different, let them.
All their songs are as good as eachother and if you really want blood and gore-type songs, go listen to Slipknot.

I agree with Lady Of Sorrows about it being "Give a cheer for all the broken".
Although it could be "Give a cheer for all those broken".
It'd make sense.

Aaand. Personally, I think they sound nothing like Greenday. And MCR aren't pop, either.

Definately not MCR's best work but good none the less. And I guess theyre not MCR either at least not for this release. So you cant judge before 24th. I've got high hopes though it's definately going to be historic. And that music video they talk about with the pyrotechnics has got to be intense, can't wait. And it doesn't matter if they're emo or not, it wouldn't change the music. And thepatient666 got it right on the money they are continualy changing, always ahead of the curve, with their concept albums that never cease to impress.

this is DEFINATELY not EMO!!!

And BTW to
TextbookInf:
Slipknot does not have any blood gore lyrics, they are pure RAP. FUCK SLIPKNOT!

i mean can't mcr be more like Aiden, that's like one step closer to being a good band, but no they wanna fuck around acting like Queen, i mean we heard it all before!

Next thing you know they're Freedom Call! Symphonic Rock Opera! the hell!

MCR used to be Br00tal, i thought they were gonna become emocore or at least emo with the vampires, blood, knives, nightmares, the make up, the long black hair, the screaming, the horror themes etc...
