Lyrics for Call Me When You're Sober as interpreted by LaDiablo

Call Me When You're Sober Lyrics
Don’t cry to me
If you loved me
You would be here with me
You want me
Come find me
Make up your mind

Should I let you fall
And lose it all
So maybe you can remember yourself
Can’t keep believing
We’re only deceiving
Ourselves and I’m sick of the lie
And you’re too late

So don’t cry to me
If you loved me
You would be here with me
You want me
Come find me
Make up your mind

Couldn’t take the blame
Sick with shame
Must be exhausting to loose your own game
Selfishly hated
No wonder you’re jaded
You can’t play the victim this time
And you’re too late

So don’t cry to me
If you loved me
You would be here with me
You want me
Come find me
Make up your mind

You never call me when you’re sober
You only want it ‘cause it’s over
It’s over

How could I
Have burned paradise?
How could I?
You were never mine

So don’t cry to me
If you loved me
You would be here with me
Don’t lie to me
Just get your things
I’ve made up your mind

Well, the new CD came out yesterday and I of course had to have it. I hadn't been intending on buying it the day it was released, but I was in Target with my stepdad and remembered about it and made him get it for me. Lol. I like this song, but I don't want to hear it very often. I think it's okay, but it's very straightforward in meaning as many have said before me and I love the old Evanescence stuff that took more brain power to decode. That's the kind of music I write for my band, but as a musician and lyricist I also know that sometimes you just have to let your emotions out and you don't want to mess around with making the song all poetic and cryptic. You just don't have the emotional energy to deal with that. But I still found this song a bit disappointing. It sounds less dark than the old stuff, but to be honest I'm getting sick of the same old shit and am quite happy for something new. Did anyone else hear about how Amy was considering leaving the band because she wanted to go more pop? And in regards to my previous statement somewhere above, what I meant by "Poor little Amy" wasn't in the sense that I think she's a cry baby sobber who can't and won't get through this. I know she's a strong adult woman and that she can definitely make it, but I do feel sorry for her because I have dealt with similar experiences as hers. For one, my ex-boyfriend does drugs and drinks and I have seen him stoned before. It really hurts my heart. Then my best friend went out with this same guy long after we had broken up and it was good for a while, but then they broke up and he would only call her when he was drunk or high and only wanted her because he could no longer have her. It was a terribly sad thing.

This song sounds just like "Bring Me To Life" at certain points. so it's rather hilarious that everyone is like OMFGZ WHARE IS TEH OLD AMY LEE?!?!111

It sounds identical to their previous work.

This is an amazing song, and the meaning is very clear. I'm very pleased with the video that was created from it. Oliver Goodwell looked gorgeous in the video, and Amy Lee looked stunning.

actually Amy Lee said the song was not about Shaun Morgan but about former bandmate and ex boyfriend Ben Moody. She also said she didn't hate him, she just never wanted to talk to him again. That he was almost like a poison. Which makes sense with the you can't play the victim part of the song. I am sure he probably blaimed her for leaving the band.

okay everybody's like freaking out oh no what happened to amy. amy will always be amy there is no new or old amy all that she brings of herself is a phase a part of her on the inside. i absolutely am in love with this song. it has so much feeling as do the other songs on "the open door". i am very impressed amy lee has never let me down in the past and i don't expect her to anytime soon. thats just my opinion. good luck

I love this song but it is far from my favorite Evanescence song. I bought The Open Door recently and I thought that it was a good album (not as good as Fallen mind you). It had some great songs like Lithium, Weight of the World, and Good Enough. I'll admit, it is different and I had to get used to it a little bit. However, it's good that they decided to try something new.

putting aside the obvious meaning....

It's about a guy whose going through alot of shit and his girl doesent know whether to let him hit rock bottem, "Should I let you fall
And lose it all". they say addicts have to hit rock bottem to really recover. But anyways she's struggeling with his selfishness and the fact that she does, deep down, love him. So she decides to just leave it up to him. He can call her once he has his own shit figured out.

I do not like this song at all. When I first heard it before the album came out. I flipped. I was really really worried that the rest of the cd was like it. Thank god it isn't. I love the cd, but refuse to listen to this song. The lyrics are too straightforword, I don't take to the music itself very much, it just doesn't click with me. It's probably my least favorite Evanescence song of all time.

I like this song, i like the video, when i seen the video, i think it's the most beautiful i've ever seen her, the lyrics are pretty much self explained and there's no complicated metaphors or symbols that people sometimes have to interpret and figure it out.

firstly amy did say the song was about shaun...but she backtracked to not look like an egocentric heartless cow and said she realised afterwards it was about a lot of people....secondly...this is just another forgettable self pitying song about someone who dares not pay little amy lee enough attention because they're battling their addictions and own problems. She 's basically stomping her feet and sulking that they dare focus on anything but her..now she's dumped them she's going to pay them back for it by publicising their problems by singing a mediocre and disjointed song and looking smug faced in the video...totally diregarding any effect it might have on them (because it's all about her obviously). The victim line is rather ironic since amy always seems to be playing the victim in a lot of their songs and interviews.

pretty much the guy from seether, don't know his name, was married to her, and had a drinking problem, she told him to clean up and he didn't, so she wrote this song as she filed for divorce, and released the album the day before he went into rehab.

Don't get me wrong before I go off on this song.
I love the band......
Now, having said that, I really hate this song and just the new album in general. Here is why.

This song is about Shaun Morgan of Seether and him going to rehab and leaving her, hence the title, Call me when your Sober. I love Seether and I love them alot more than Evanescence. On top of that, Terry is nowhere near as good as a guitar player as Ben was/is. On TOP of that, that fucker left COLD to join on Amy's band-waggon. That makes me hate this song even more cause he co-wrote it. All that aside, I still love Fallen and Origins. So there, all you little pissy fan-boys/girls, it's not like I hate the band, it's just not the same anymore.

OK... all the people that are saying it is about Jesus...deep thinking, but a little too deep. It is about shaun morgans "problems" with drinking, and how amy lee couldnt take it any more, so when he checks out of rehab and is absolutely sober, wich is her saying ya right, like you will ever be sober...ok...sorry...i just wanted to get that out ^_^

i like the song, but i agree with most of you, i am a little suprised with the direction

Im not very happy with that song...the video isnt that bad and in combination with the music I can hear it...but without it...no...I loved the Fallen Album and Im sure happy that they have evolved a new style and wander now on a new path but its not the same anymore and Ill stay to the old songs :) but the lyrics arent that bad no matter if its about this guy or another guy...

It is obvious that she is sick of some guy's crap and now that she is gone he wants her back. The guy is trying to play the victim THIS TIME but she isn't falling for it and wants him CURBED!!!
