Well I have been searching
All of my days
Many a road, you know
I’ve been walking on
All of my days
And I’ve been trying to find
What’s been in my mind
As the days keep turning into night

Well I have been quietly standing in the shade
All of my days
Watch the sky breaking on the promise that we made
All of this rain
And I’ve been trying to find
What’s been in my mind
As the days keep turning into night

Well many a night I found myself with no friends standing near
All of my days
I cried aloud
I shook my hands
What am I doing here
All of these days
For I look around me
And my eyes confound me
And it’s just too bright
As the days keep turning into night

Now I see clearly
It’s you I’m looking for
All of my days
So I’ll smile
I know I’ll feel this loneliness no more
All of my days
For I look around me
And it seems you found me
And it’s coming into sight
As the days keep turning into night
As the days keep turning into night
And even breathing feels all right
Yes, even breathing feels all right
Now even breathing feels all right
Yes even breathing
Feels all right

General Comment:I think this song might be about the sweet release of death. The first and second verse are about him reminiscing his life, the what should've and could've.

    "Well I have been searching
    All of my days
    Many a road, you know
    I've been walking on
    all of my days'

and he sums it up by saying
'And I've been trying to find.
    What's been in my mind
As the days keep turning into night'

The next verse might be the time he's on his death bed waiting for death to fetch him

'Well many a night I found myself with no friends standing near
    All of my days
    I cried aloud
    I shook my hands
    What am I doing here
    All of these days'
Nobody is there to accompany him and he shook his own hands just to make him feel better.

Last verse is when he's about to release his hold on life.

    Now I see clearly
    It's you I'm looking for
    All of my days
The 'you' here might refer to God like all of the others are saying, he realizes that at the end of his life its God that he should have looked for after all these times.

    'So I'll smile
I know I'll feel this loneliness no more
    For I look around me
And it seems you found me'

Again the you here refers to God. After realizing this, he feels better and he can feel the comfort that God has given him.

The 'Even breathing feels alright' is the moment before he's about to die. All the wants to do now is just 'breathe' because right now the simple thing like breathing is better than dying.

General Comment:Yes, I think at the time of writing this song, the solution Alexi finds to the emptiness of the days and nights we all go through is God. Only God (if he/she exists) is guaranteed to continue with you ALL of your days.

I don't believe in God, but I see the beauty of the concept. Still, I think this song has enough ambiguity that you can apply it to whichever person is the most important to you in your life, which is nice. :)

General Comment:This song is something quite hopeful for me.

I think it is about someone who is depressed, lonely, what have you. They are lost. Maybe in a relationship or maybe just in life. They keep on trying to go find things that will fill this huge void in their life, but keep coming back confused as just as empty as before. I think the middle is that point in your life when you hit rock bottom. You try to figure out where you went wrong. You just want to smile and laugh again; and for once in a long long while, don't want to have to fake it. The end is clarity. That moment where you find exactly what you are looking for. It could be from a relationship, God, or, the majority of the time it happens this way for me, it's in a song.

General Comment:This song defines my life! Except I didn't find what I'm looking for...

I heard it in the trailer of a movie called "Away We Go". By the way, if you're into soft, indie movies, and you love Alexi Murdoch (he did the whole soundtrack!), listen to this movie. VERY touching and cute!

My Opinion:This song was in the movie "Away We Go" with John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph. It was an awesome movie, and the soundtrack (which was 80% Alexi Murdoch) was amazing! :)

General Comment:This song absolutely blew me away when I picked up the album that he did. I had heard of him randomly and just picked it up on a fluke - for some reason, I just thought it LOOKED like a good album.

I never, ever questioned that knack for good taste. This album is amazing and this is one of my favorite songs of all time. The skill and talent behind this is incredible. There's something about this that has a Christian tint to me, but I might just be projecting. I think it may be him addressing God but it could also be him addressing a lover. It's very ambiguous to me.
