so you can’t hold a star in your hand though
at least you can hold on to another plan

rusted wheel planted still

i can tell it's summer from the
size of the bugs that fly through my window
flying through my window

rusted wheel planted still
rusted wheel can't move on

i can tell it's winter from the
size of the lump in my throat
got a lump in my throat

rusted wheel planted still
rusted wheel can't move on

and it feels just like the ground
but trapped in another way
just still in the ground

and it feels just like the ground
and trapped in another way
just still in the ground

so you can't hold a star in your hand though
at least you can move on to that better plan

rusted wheel planted still
rusted wheel can't move on...

General Comment:This is a well thought out album.

"so you can’t hold a star in your hand though
at least you can hold on to another plan"

I think he is singing about this song and how it isn't a single but it is part of a much bigger picture, the entire album. This song is in a sense the rusted wheel. Rusted wheel belongs to something bigger, the entire album, just like a rusted wheel belongs to a vehicle.

"and it feels just like the ground
    but trapped in another way
    just still in the ground"

This song really fits the album and it feels like it is part of the essence of Carnavas, just like the wheel "feels just like the ground". The rusted wheel is part of the ground now and it goes to show that it feels natural to the ground with the rusted wheel in it.

General Comment:It's about being stuck in a past situation that you can't move on from. Most of us can translate that to a relationship with someone that we just can't seem to let go of.

However, and this is very sycnchronistic, it could also be a past traumatic event which, in some cases also happen with relationships we are too attached to or even obsessed with. I was watching the Mentalist tonight just before I heard this song where Patrick Jane hallucinates and begins seeing his daughter. At one point during the show she tells him that he's stuck in neutral and can't move on from his past (wife and daughter murdered). So it could be anything really that we can't let go of or move on from. Either way great song.

Translation:so the star you can't hold in your hand is the one you want but can't have, and another plan is how (to allude to some Stones' words) you get what you need. seasons move, people pass on- but the heart remains. and that infected wound from a rusty ring just keeps you hanging on for that one star you wish you could wish upon. how many more seasons will i stay hung up on her? -rusted wheel anonymous.

General Comment:In the sort of ''bridge'' to the song, after Brian says ''move on to that better plan'', there is something else added such as ''right now'' or ''right?, yeah'', I'm not too sure but it's definitely there.

General Comment:its like he got stuck, whether it be in a relationship, a dream, who knows, but he cant get out of this. he cant even try to move on to something better, which reminds me of the song surrounded or spiraling cuz they are kinda stuck in their relationship and what not, but that could be seriously wrong...

General Comment:i feel that the song is talkin about something old that was left to weather, something that has thought or a soul that can feel that its been sitting. when something sits for a time it becomes stiff or rusted to a poitn where it cant move... when it talks about the season of chanfe with the lump an the bugs itdoesnt hav to see the change of season its been around so long that it can jus feel the change....and it feels just like the ground and trapped in another way just still in the ground go outside an try to push on the ground out side it doesnt move its solid...the ground has been around a long time its decayed yet can bring new life...and for the star i think it might mean that what ever this is feels that a star is like a new life or begininn but watever this is it cant grab the star its become to weatehered where it will never agin be able to live
and its a wheel...wheels r meant to travel..its become rusted...its now stationaty set in stone for the rest of its weathered life

General Comment:This song made me fall in love with this group, I initially bought it because someone in the band is named Joe Lester and I have a friend with the same name and because of the femake bassist, but this made it about so much more, this song along with most of the others on the album take me to this slowed down place, where you drive fast and it makes everything seem to slow down, its hard to explain but this is one of my favorite songs by them
