Eighty-one was the year shit hit the fan in a major way
I sat there for an inspiring artist
Almost twenty years after the fact I'm still on my hustle
Diggin' graves for an inspiring artist
Pushing daises up
And never compromise the arts and make a crowd clap
Shit on since the first show
But we turned feces to fertilizer
So when you diss, it's just food for the flowers to grow
Sold fifteen plus out of backpacks, no trunks
Too young to drive
But live hip hop
And the kids are upstate kids that thought rap was past tense, hence the last name
Got name for playing basements and such and making songs that our friends loved
And when the fish bowl got too small to hold the goldfish
We filled our gills with water and ripped that mother fucker like...

So take a step back
And a breath in
Let it out now
Put your chin up
You can do it, tiger
You a man now
And in your dream it's time to do the best you can now

[Chorus]
So break ourselves down
And build ourselves up in disappointment
How fragile we are
So fragile we are; we just don't show it
Shake up this town
And shoot down the stars for our enjoyment
So sexy we are
So sexy we are; we just don't know it

This is what you wanted, right?
How many nights were spent pouring out your guts, dummy?
How many punishments endured for fucking up in school?
How many teachers proved wrong by writing songs instead?
My point exactly
But you knew you had a spark, did you?
Something producin' to the dreams your pop's dreams lent you
Stay focused when nothing seemed to make sense
Stealing verses with that Cassius Clay confidence
Sometimes you stubborn as shit; that's the McCoy in you
You learn to be a man without losing the boy in you
Just do your thing, man

So take a step back
And a breath in
Let it out now
Put your chin up
You can do it, tiger
You a man now
And in your dream it's time to do the best you can now

So take a step back
And a breath in
Let it out now
Put your chin up
You can do it, tiger
You a man now
And in your dream it's time to do the best you can now

[Chorus]

We break ourselves down
And build ourselves up in disappointment
How fragile we are
So fragile we are; we just don't show it
We shake up this town
And shoot down the stars for our enjoyment
So sexy we are
So sexy we are; we just don't know it

So take a step back
And a breath in
Let it out now
Put your chin up
You can do it, tiger
You a man now
And in your dream it's time to do the best you can now

[Chorus]

General Comment:I think this is a song to inspire his cousin Tyga to keep following his dreams, cause he talks about "you can do it tyga your a man now". He's saying even though it's hard he just has to throw himself out there and try and that he is always there to support his cousin:) at least that's what I grasp from it haha:)

Lyric Correction:The lyric is "you can do it Tyga" not tiger. He is referring to the rapper Tyga who is also his cousin hence the reference to his last name McCoy.

    General Comment:He actually says

"But you knew you had a spark didn't you
Something conducive to the dreams your pop's genes lit you
Stay focused when nothing seems to make sense...
... and still aversive with that Cassius clay confidence"

To Lilryan727: "Put live hiphop in the ears of upstate kids that thought rap was past tense, hence the last name."

Hes saying GCH brought hip hop to people who thought hip hop was dead. Hence why they're called "heroes"(last name)

General Comment:i feel like when he says 'tiger' in the chorus that he might just be referring to or giving a shout out to Tyga who is in fact his cousin and around when this album was released Tyga was up and coming.
    But idk- just random input.

General Comment:Basically, it is saying don't let anyone keep you from accomplishing anything, don't let anyone bring you down, keep your head up, and no matter what, you are sexy! Alsoo yes sometimes we try and give up too easy, and yes we are fragile, but keep your head up, keep practicing what you aim for, and you will go far. Reminds me of school.

    General Comment:Aren't the lyrics:
"...A sad day for aspiring artists.
Almost 20 years after the fact, I'm still on my hustle,
    Diggin graves for aspiring artists"?

This is a really inspiring song, I love the lines:
"But you knew you had a spark, did you?
Something producin' to the dreams your pop's dreams lent you
Stay focused when nothing seemed to make sense
Stealing verses with that cassius clay confidence"

And I do think that this song is for Tyga, Travee's cousin,
For example: "Sometimes you stubborn as shit, that's the McCoy in you"
