I said, "Come here, if there is a fire
Cause I want you
To burn first"

She screamed at me, "I want to be desired"
I said, "Easy girl,
I know it hurts"

So, I'll give thanks,
But I am a liar
Cause I got a feeling
I just might get worse

Now there's nothing wrong with you
I'm just tired
And I need you for a brand new curse

You burn first
You burn first
You burn first

"Come here, if there is a fire
Cause I want you
To burn first"

She screamed at me, "I want to be desired"
I said, "Easy girl,
I know it hurts"

So, I'll give thanks,
But I am a liar
Cause I got a feeling
I just might get worse

Now there's nothing wrong with you
I've just grown tired
And I need you for a brand new curse

General Comment:When we met Dallas Green a few months ago, I asked him why this song sounded so different than anything else on the album and he said that the vocals were done by the singer of another band.

I cannot, for the life of me, remember who he said did them. Someone with the album in front of them might be able to look at the Thank you section and find out. I'm sorry if this was plainly obvious, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

General Comment:Hm, I have to say, I kinda of believe that this song reminds me of Alice In Chains, like think about the sound of this song, and then listen to some of Alice In Chains more well known songs, like, Grind, Rooster, and Man In The Box.
It's just a very dark, and hard feeling to the music. Yes, the intro isn't half as long as Alice In Chains songs, nor does the beat really stand up, but the music sound itself. The song that it mostly reminds me of is without a doubt Grind.
    *Shrugs* Just a personal though.

General Comment:the rest of the album was in their safe zone and they branched out and tried something new. I personally love this song and I think a lot of people are overly critical of it just because it's not what they were expecting.

Song Meaning:i def think this about sex.

"cover me if there is a fire" - i think that basically means when you are horny and having sex to well.. get on top. and i agree that talking about "burning" means to have a orgasm.

"and she said, 'i want to be desired'" - i think that means she is talking about how she wants guys to want her for maybe more than just sex. and he is saying, "easy girl, i know it hurts" because he knows it doesn't feel too swell to not be wanted.

"So, I'll give thanks, but I am a liar" - he acts like he appreciates her for the sex, but he knows he doesn't care about her. "'cause I got a feeling ,I just might get worse" - he knows if he keeps going back to her for the same thing, she will get more attached will be really bad in the end when he ends it.

"Now there's nothing wrong with you I'm just tired, And I need you for a brand new curse" - i think here it's saying "nothing wrong with you, i'm just tired of having sex with you". 'a brand new curse' could mean that he wants to move onto someone else.

General Comment:I don't know why everyone disapproves of this song. Though it's not Traditional AoF, it's definitely a kick ass song. It's got so much grit to it, such a dirty feeling to it.

As far as the production argument is concerned...Crisis is definitely more polished, but the musical technicality on the albums before this was of a higher standard. To everyone talking about how AoF opened with this...I've not had the privilege of seeing them live yet, but I'd always imagined them closing with this track. I'd definitely tear shit up if this was the end of the set.

Emotion is a great part of interpreting music. I suppose if you think this song is crap, it's because of some connectivity issues, which one cannot fault you for. But I felt an instant connection with the song, so...

General Comment:For me, this song is the turning point on the album. From here on in, it seems the album takes a more darker, and more personal aproach. The first half seems more ...i duno, upbeat? (not forgeting This Could Be Anywhere..tho!) The second was a bit of a suprise on my first listen. It seems alot more personal, especialy with the bonus tracks (Thrones in Particular) Its good to hear them having equal roles in this album, and Georges vocals have really Developed throughout this record.

General Comment:Terrible song, whos bright idea was it to have some moron vocalist participate on this song? Completely ruined.

To you morons who think this is a step in the right direction for Alexisonfire, you are wrong. Some shitty pop-punk influenced garbage is not the right direction for Alexisonfire, please cut off your ears.

General Comment:"not sure if youve actually listened to the new album or not... or even this song seeing as you said somthing about the screaming in this song which im stil yet to hear

listen to the cd then get bak to us"

Haha, you obviously don't pay attention to music when you listen to it. As for everyone criticizing this song, you might as well stop being so petty.

It is a new direction they're taking, they are starting sets with it which shows they find it a powerful song, and they wouldn't have included it if they didn't think it showed a side of them that was worthy to note.

Furthermore, it's amazing, and definitely NOT a mainstream sound, in no way is it a mainstream sound. In fact all these bands you are comparing too are not mainstream, they are popular (like AOF) but not mainstream.

And I agree with DoItForTheTeam, I think it's about sex. But with that in mind there are some parts in the song that don't clearly make sense, with a stretch they do but still something I'm thinking about.
