Lyrics for Redneck as interpreted by _ANARCHiST_

Redneck Lyrics
So goddamn easy to write this
You make it spill on the page
So drunk on yourself, self-righteous
A laughing stock of your own fucking stage

Oh but I ain't one to call names
Or throw stones in a house of glass
You try me

This is a motherfuckin' invitation
The only one you could ever need
This is a motherfuckin' invitation
You try me

Just one time you got a reason
Heard you had nothing to lose
A blind preacher for the pin-eyed congregation
It must be easy to lose

Oh but I ain't one to call names
Or throw stones in a house of glass
You try me

This is a motherfuckin' invitation
The only one you could ever need
This a motherfuckin' invitation
You try me

You can tell the same lie a thousand times
But it never gets any more true
So close your eyes once more and once more believe
That they all still believe in you

Just one time
This is a motherfuckin' imitation
The only one you could ever need
This a motherfuckin' invitation
Just one time

This is a motherfuckin' invitation
Ya' try me

Just one time(ya' try me)
Just one time(ya' try me)

Ya' try me

I'm a huge LOG fan, but somethin strikes me as kind of funny. How someone is so against the war, yet so readily sings about beating someone. The typical tough guy metal-singer attitude just makes me laugh. Come on Randy, can't we all just get along??

It's about Phil Anselmo, no doubt. His arrogant behaviour, saying shit like "To this day nobody has taken my throne of heavy goddamn metal"

http://www.downboard.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=231951&sid=387aeac0e890e86efa72d397719d940b

pisses off randy.

Also maybe randy thinks(a lot of people does) that phil is the responsible for the pantera breakup, and consequently for Dime's death.

And people are always calling phil "redneck", just put the words, "redneck" and "phil anselmo" in google and you'll see.

By the way phil is indeed an asshole. now it's easy to say that pantera would come back, that Dime was his brother...now that it makes no diference.

One of the main reasons why you cry when a loved one dies, it's because you know that you could have showed more your apreciation when the person was alive, but you didn't, and now it's over, you can't do nothing more, and maybe phil has realized this and is full of remorse.

And still an arrogant redneck.

(sorry for the weak english)

It's not that he's Pantera-influenced, he's just changing his vocal style. Listen to some of their stuff from when they were Burn The Priest...he does some of the same stuff there that he's doing here. He's not using his voice processor as much and relying more on his real voice. And yes he does use vocal effects. But it still fucking rocks!

Just for the record, the line is NOT
'This is a motherfuckin' imitation'
It is infact
'This is a motherfuckin' Invitation'

Just like the third line of the chorus

Obviously you havent seen LOG live swift. He sounds exactly the same. Hell, i saw them with In Flames and even the In Flames singer did a copy of randy to see if he could scream like it. If you have the right voice, anyone can scream like this.

hey everybody. to be honest i think you lot are complety wrong about this song being about phil anselmo. i have never posted a message on a site like this before but i thought i would have a heavy contribution towards the meaning of this song and hoppefully you guys will agree. i must admit that i am HUGE Anselmo fan and always will be. i also wuld like to mention that i am a huge dime, vinnie and rex fan just as much as i love phil (remember, remember the 8th of december). but personally i dont think this song is a insult to anyone infact at somepoints i personally think this song is about LOG getting slightly arrogant after the latest album. i think that they have come from nothing to something huge with such an impact that it has taking a big hit to them. this album has had such a huge success rate so far and i am a massive fan of the album as i am sure you guys are aswell. well lets get started the opening lyrics that randy sings are pretty much about how easy it is getting for them because now that they have been doing this so long it all comes naturally now, and the second set of the 1st verse lyrics ( we know how much LOG love their drink) is about them drinking to much and then sometimes bcoming the laughing stock on stage or maybe reversing it to become they are the laughing stock on their own stage. He also mentions that he is NOT one to call names or brake a glass house, you try me, i think this means he has never been one to call other band's names or try to piss any one off, you try me (i still dont do it, i only promote my own band.) then the chrous is saying we are now so good we will give you an intvitation the only one you could ever need. anyway im going to have to finish now see if you agree continue on with the lyrics and see what you make of them. please let me know your responses fate1954@aol.com

ANyone could stomp randy. Have you seen him fight in the Killadelphia DVD? MArkl knocks him out lmao.

Anwyay, Phil is an absolute cunt. I'm glad that son of a bitch wasn't allowed to grace the mighty Dimebag Darrels funeral after all the shit he stirred up about him. Sure, he is a legend in metal, both Phil and Dime are. But he is an absolute cunt for what he did and I hope he never returns to music again.

I'm not listening to Pantera. I'm still mad at them, slipknot and KoRn for ruining Ozzy Osbourne's song Crazy Train. Fuck. it cannot be sung Death metal style.

I agree with almost every word. Unfortunately he has actually returned to music.

The song came up because Mark wrote some experimental song that the band didn't really like, so he got pissed off and wrote this in a really short amount of time to spite them. Musically, thats what happened at least.

the beauty of music is that as much as you all may be (and possibly are) right, the song is still whatever you make it. and to me it's about calling people to account. it's about how easily you can sink to other peoples' bullshit level, but you don't. and the whole part about an invitation is saying: hey motherfucker, i'm right here, if you have a problem then bring it. it may in fact be about themselves, or phil or who knows who else. but to me it's about yourself and everyone around you, standing for what you believe, and if anyone has a problem, then you tell them to bring it cause this is a motherfuckin' invitation
the only one you could ever need.

where in the hell are people getting "imitation"?? it could be about phil anselmo i guess but it wouldnt be a attack on pantera just anselmo considering vinnie paul and anyone else related to the band aside from rex have issues with phil cause he's a selfish ass. point being if it is about phil than its probley stating all he's ever gonna do is be hated for the way he acted. i dont even think it is about him though i think it might be about some one else randy blythe has a beef with
